In 2011, Steven LaChance and his family moved into a house in Union, Missouri. Little did they know that the property was haunted, and would soon become a hotbed of strange, mysterious, and deeply disturbing paranormal activity - from poltergeist-like happenings to the appearance of creepy shadow figures to demonic screaming. Years later, when another family moved into the same house, the supernatural phenomena escalated, allegedly resulting in the terrifying demonic possession of at least one person...

Wow Laura, this one was extremely unsettling for sure. I wonder how people cope with hauntings like this. I live in a 173 year old house in mid-coast Maine; we've had a few things happen over the years but the spirits here are good ones. I could not live here otherwise. Love your channel.

Laura, I love how you can point out different views. I like that you are not taking peoples stories as facts and yet don’t fully dismiss these cases either. As you have said these can be true (well partly) but there is no one to keep these cowboys from embellishing. Thanks for your content.

I’m so glad you covered this with a critical eye. A lot of the cases you’ve done in the past tend to come across as disparaging of evidence contrary to the paranormal, even in cases where foul play was very apparent. I enjoyed learning about this one very much.

This is reminding me heavily of the Indiana Demon House. If you haven't done an episode on that, you should consider it. It's a very, very strange case. I'm skeptical of demon possessions, but so many people reported the same things that I can't help but think something extremely strange was happening in that house. Social workers, nurses, teachers, police even reported the same things. We're talking little kids walking up walls in front of half of the emergency room staff.

Zak Bagans bought that house and investigated it for an entire year before he decided to have it demolished. That house is what ruined his vision, he has to wear those glasses permanently because that house made him almost blind. To hear a NURSE say she saw the son walk up the wall is terrifying. I'm so glad they got out of that house, those kids were wonderful kids when not in the grip of demonic possession.

With the present one that is clearly made up of parts of other stories, and well said, by Laura, that it was basically a story, too many inconsistencies, and even more when one looks at what is missing from the story. You do not flee from your home, with your children, in terror, and then casually return the next day, and a whole lot more. There are some houses that have real stories behind them, and the above story simply mocks true events, brings them into disrepute, and a nice money earner for the man. I was brought up in a house that has a benign spirit, and we simply lived with him, mother used to see him dressed in old navy captains uniform, looking at her from the backroom bedroom. Unlike today things of this nature were just accepted as what they were, living alongside us. I am now talking just after the last war.

We used to have a 'crying boy'` print in our lounge as kids. A national newspaper ran a story in the 80's, linking the pictures with house fires. My mother said it was all a load of rubbish, and didn't believe a thing. Several years later we had a house fire, filling our home with smoke. Luckily it was dealt with quickly and caused mostly smoke damage. The next day, the picture was in the shed at the end of the garden and Mum wouldn't have it back in the house again.

Interestingly enough, the 'flannel' spirit is a common sighting across the US (and I think other places?) -- often referred to as the flannel man. Pretty much always described as wearing red flannel & blue jeans, sometimes with a hat. Usually also described as just standing there, staring at the witness. However, sometimes the flannel man realizes he's being watched, too, and expresses surprise before disappearing. Fun stuff.

Not sure this is the same person/entity/ghost/whatever. If we take as given "ghosts exist", then it stands to reason an enormous number of elderly gentlemen of the era of the early 1900s would be wearing red flannel shirts and blue jeans. It was pretty much the standard fashion for working-class men at the time, particularly in cooler climates. This may well just be coincidence.

Oh my gosh I'm from St Louis and I met my wife and lived with her in Gray Summit which is about five miles away from Union and that area is absolutely the most creepy area I have ever experienced. I had several paranormal experiences there that would scare the pants off any sceptic to the point I thought about writing a book about it. It's not just me either, I know several people that have there stories as well and after my own experiences I found there stories to be very believeable as well as terrifying. It must be a portal to the dead or something. My wife's best friends grandparents owned a home that as soon as you entered the front door ( I personally did this once ) it felt like something really dark was staring you down ! This is one of your creepier videos lately ( I'm a bit byast ) because this stuff is real I swear on anything! If you do more on this area I have a trove of really scary and very real information to share! If you read this and wanna learn about it just holla at yer boy.

This is Steven LaChance. First, the inconsistencies you think you have found are not there. One is a short telling and the other is an entire book which went into in depth detail. Certain things were changed in the legal edit of the book. One change was the landlady who was turned into a man by the publisher. John T. Crowe was changed to Cromwell. These sort of legal edits are common whenever a book is published. The clown was not discussed until later because when I wrote the short telling I was still dealing with the clown as well. Here is me coming clean. I wrote what happened in the book. Whether you choose to believe it or not is up to you. This is what happened. As far as paranormal investigators opinions on the case well that is theirs. They were never personally misled. As far as this being a money grab it is ridiculous. You do not make a fortune from this sort of book. Thank you for sharing the story. I think you were very effective in telling it. I came to the conclusion a long time ago it is not my place to convince or not convince what happened in the Union house. My job is to share it and then let people make up their own minds. Am I perfect? No of course not. I am just an average guy who went through something extraordinary which I still do not fully understand in my own mind. I spent years looking for answers which were never fully answered. The entire report from the church will be made public this spring. You can read for yourself what the church felt about it. As for me, I am living a good life and I left the paranormal behind over five years ago. I still have a lot questions myself which I am satisfied will never be answered. My children are now grown and doing very well and they have moved on as well. This may not be the answers you feel like the paranormal deserves but it is what it is. And the paranormal doesn’t deserve anything from me or my family. They took way more than they helped. If you have read the book you know this already. Thank you again and I hope this helps in your understanding. Many blessings to all.

Hello Steven, Thank you for taking the time to comment and address some of the issues raised in the video. As I state in my analysis, obviously there is no way for me to know what happened or did not happen within the house as I was not there. All I can do is point out some of the issues I identified which, through many years of paranormal research, are things I unfortunately see over and over again, and allow viewers to draw their own conclusions. Money-grabbing is but one motive in this regard. I do believe, which I state in video, that your narrative has many believable and sincere aspects, and truly think - regardless of the issues I identified - that you help to illuminate upon the paranormal just by sharing them. And so, thank you for this. Thank you also for your kind words about my handling of your case. Whatever differences of opinion we may have in respect of some details within your narrative, I appreciate your civility and will say that, for the most part, I do think you experienced something very real. I am not a non-believer of the paranormal: far from it, I am very enthusiastic about making sure it is well-represented and handled as it deserves to be. Thank you again, wishing you and your children all the very best. - Laura

Yes! This is my favorite thing about this channel. I like paranormal stuff, but half the time channels (and the people experiencing it) over dramatize the smallest things to try and 'prove' the paranormal is real. If it's actually happening, tell it like it happened and let the people take the evidence for what it's worth. Embellishments on something that is already hard to believe don't help sell the story, they only help to discount it.

If a house is haunted, many times it can make you mentally unstable, Depending on the spirits /demons inhabiting the home . I know exactly where Union Mo is, it isn't far from St Louis Missouri . He may have had different stories written just because of the stress he endured. I can only imagine the evil. Makes me want to go see this place

I live in Saint Louis which is sort of close to Union. I’ve never been that way, but this is creepy. I’ve always wanted to find the exorcist hospital since it was in Saint Louis. The boy in the original exorcist also lived around here. The hospital was torn down, but the house still exists. We also have the Lemp mansion. They say this area is haunted due to the destruction of Native American burial mounds which covered the city. Essentially, the city is built upon a mass graveyard. There are also sacred caves under the city which were used by the Lemps to store the beer they produced. There are a lot of interesting paranormal stories in history here.

I own this book. I had to read it after this story appeared on television. Some of this information was not imparted on the show of course. I have always found parts of this haunting particularly frightening. And I don't scare easily as my family lived through a demonic haunting when I was child. I've always wondered at the veracity of this story. Not that I think he's lying necessarily, I just always wonder that about everyones story. A retelling of an event never quite lives up to the reality of what happened.

Another wonderfully delivered story that, regardless of its' veracity and jolt inducing elements, is again just so easy on the ears and noggin! Without being too heavy, Laura describes some of the most terrifying hauntings out there, or should that be, in here, with you as I type?!!🧐😱👻 Scared myself there for a moment! Oh my goodness this sounds so cheesy when read through again, but so what! it's all terrifyingly good fun. Another excellent episode. I cannot wait to let other family members and buddies know about this channel. One must be quite discerning these days with recommendations though, because although there are some quite fair and legitimate pretenders to the metaphysical throne out there; just how many other channels, and musicians, and films and websites can you actually suggest, before your friends eyes' glaze over and you've lost them? Honestly though, close to high falutin praise aside, The Paranormal Scholar is entertainment and information presented in its' own unique style has fulfilled its' remit each time I've decided to listen. I took the time to write this review because while I cannot afford to support the channel monetarily, I can at least leave an honest review of one of my favourite channels that I've had the pleasure to listen to for over two years now. Best of wishes to everyone this Christmas 🎄 x

Nothing is more terrifying than seeing an apparition, especially in close proximity. It is a downright primal fear. What's so funny to me in a way, is that, after someone actually does see an entity, and knows they exist, listening to skeptics is like, "Okay, I get it. You've never seen anything like that, so naturally you don't realize that it actually exists. But, you're so naive". Because they definitely exist.

Love your channel ❤️. Appreciate you laying out "everything". I have seen more than one show about this case. What irritates me is the possibility that things are embellished as you mentioned. What happens then is it takes away credibility. And as you said, it does appear that the house was indeed haunted, it would be so much better to stick to the entire truth. Sad that ppl feel they need to add to it.

About time someone was honest, showed integrity. I am sick of people just going along with narratives. Well handled, very well handled. There are many, many questions, indeed, that arise out of the story, and I take what the man wrote as a story, taking parts from other events. No one, but no one, would have stayed as long as he did in that house. He treats the entire first events, leading up to his vacating, with his children, one day, as nothing much to write home about. I would like to know: 1). Where did he and his children spend the night, after leaving the property? 2). Why go back to the property the next day, and stay there? 3). What mental facility did the paranormal investigator go to, name? 4). Where is the footage, recordings, tapes, video even, of the events claimed to have gone on? 5). Where are the names, so we can check with them, of those who are supposed to have investigated the house? 6). Inconsistencies are excused, explained away by some who simply do that to everything in their lives, easier to do this than to engage in thinking things through. The inconsistencies do give the game away. When we have lived through something that is unnatural to our worldly mindset, it sticks, we have events imprinted, etched upon our memories, and when retelling events are consistent as we are viewing what is etched upon the plates of our mind, are not in control, but the event in control . This is why the likes of Rendlesham Forest is another obvious pack of lies, this time to cover something very serious that went on at that base.

Might even have an incident you’d be intirested in hearing about in regards to an encounter I had with a rake or a skinwalker that lasted for over an hour. I’d even came face to face with it and saw it clear as day. It was very intent on getting me that’s for sure since it chased me down for as long as it did.

And I actually also had an incident where we had to stay with a relative when we were young and my mother got attacked by a old woman and a child that were ghosts. She had the child bite marks up and down her back and scratch marks and even part of the house got rampaged. The marks she had on her body and the locations of them were physically impossible to do herself and even though I believe she has it in her to stage something like that this one was something that was clearly not that case.
