@Ellie5621 I mean technically his way did work; it just didn't have the longevity that their partnership could of had if he chose another way. It's like someone saying they regret somethings in their life but ultimately are satisfied and comfortable with how their live has turned out so far.

@CASII472 жыл бұрын
@Ellie5621 He said he regrets everything with his wife and leaving Penny Hardaway. He thinks about what could of been with Penny if he didn't leave, what would still be if he did right by his wife and not speaking more to his sister and Kobe before he passed. He never said he regretted anything about Kobe except reaching out to him more after that split. He's said on numerous occasions that the sit down he did for the NBA with Kobe was the first conversation face-to-face they had had since he left LA and the only time he saw Kobe after that was Kobe's last game. When he spoke about doing it his way, he was only talking about his playing career; nothing else included.
@CASII472 жыл бұрын
@Ellie5621 @Ellie5621 lol Because that's how he answered it. Nobody has ever said Shaq is a cohesive individual. He's all over the place most of the time. I can just see he wasn't contradicting himself, even though it can appear that way sometimes. I see what you see though. Maybe they should have commented to help him clarify and distinguish both points clearer at the end; I have just heard him speak on it enough in other settings to understand what he was saying overall.

Penny was a bum from 97-98 onward. 15 ppg for 99 Magic and got spanked by AI. Penny without Shaq went from 51% 21 and 7 to 44% 21 and 5.... Then 15 and 5 on 44% ... Lackluster outside of 95 and 96. Let alot to be desired outside of those two seasons.

Penny Hardaway is just worth that....a Penny. Dude is wack!!
@alecsanderhamilton9224 Жыл бұрын
@@acemany1126 somewhat romanticized above reality. Him and Grant Hill..they were darlings of the 90's golden era benefitting greatly from the consistency and long tenures of Magic, Bird, Jordan, Isiah and Olajuwon and the many other stars of the late 80's and early 90's NBA that created the worldwide leader in Sports era.... And Penny and Hill were believed to be alongside GP, Kemp, SHAQ, Mourning, Mutombo, Coleman, Larry Johnson, Strickland and Webber and Sprewell the best of the early 2000's generation to come post Jordan and Barkley and Malone and Ewing etc. By 98, Duncan with Robinson's help was in the second round as a rookie. By 99 he was champion. Before any of those other guys. By 99 Kobe was better than Penny. By 2000 he was better than Hill. AI was better than Penny and Hill by 2001. Possibly 2000. Definitely better than Penny by 1999. Carter was better than Hill by 01. Maybe 2000. TMAC better than Hill or Penny by 01. Sprewell was a ECFinalist and NBA finalist in 99 and 00. 04 he had the TWolves in the WCFinals with KG. He was a better early 2000's star than Penny or Hill. Nowitzki, Rasheed, Ben Wallace, Wade, LeBron came and all surpassed Penny and Hill by 01, 02, 03. Penny and Hills prime literally died in their first 7 seasons. Penny by 98 in his 5th season. Hill by his 7th season same year Jordan was beginning certification of the crown 👑 the NBA was tailoring 🪡 for him since 1984... He sealed it approved by 93 his 9th season. Hill was at a greater teeter by 01. His 7th season and he'd miss the playoffs twice. He had missed the second round of the playoffs for 6 seasons. He was now let go by his original franchise and beginning his career with his second team by year 7. They were duds. They deflated under massive expectations. I remember in 99 Magic vs Lakers and I wasn't ready to cede to Kobe from Penny. Penny still had some light there that people wanted to believe in. Kobe's 33 second half points basically ended that. Hill and Penny were supposed to be obstacles for Kobe. Like the Magic and Bird Kobe had to wrestle control from. They weren't even in the ring. Kobe comfortably was in the ring with a shadow legend. Jordan was retired by 99.. he left an empty throne for anybody to take. Nobody could take it. Nobody had earned it from Jordan on the court in the most traditional way. The NBA crafted his legacy very well. He literally is a King 👑 that left unscathed. Undecapitated by a young gun. Penny and Hill were Eastern Conference young guns from 95-98. They didn't touch MJ.. Shaq left before he could properly unseat Jordan for good. Then it was Shaq and Kobe after a plan delay in 99 that took it from Duncan and Robinson who took it from nobody. They literally avoided their BULLY the Jazz in 1999 and swept a what are you doing here? 99 Blazers in the WCF. At least if 99 Spurs picked off Malone and Stockton and Ewing in 99 but NO! They picked off Rasheed and Brian Grant and Sabonis and Stoudamire and Sprewell and Houston and Camby and LJ... But nobody who actually carried a mantle in the 90's NBA. Who was a first Teamer of those players mentioned? Sprewell in 94? They got Shaq in 99 second round but damn they got em in the second round when he was 31-19 and only 3-1 winner over Pippen, Barkley, and Olajuwon but I mean what is SHAQ's major points in the 90's that we don't discard as a lil faulty?

@@alecsanderhamilton9224A lot of truth in what you are saying but I think repeated injuries changed the course of Grant Hill and Penny Hardaway career as well. Did the same to Kevin Johnson of the Phoenix Suns too. Injuries and team circumstances affects momentum and trajectory of careers in Sport. Jordan as great as he was, was nothing without Pippen and Rodman for the 2nd 3-peat, the right coach for him. Kobe the same. Without Shaq, relatable guys like Rick Fox and those other sharp shooter but especially without Phil Jackson and the triangle offense which effectively utilized his skill set they would not have won and be elevated as much as they are. Lebron never had a Phil Jackson as coach. He Never had a stacked team like Chicago. Or Lakers. He won despite that. Even in Miami. He didn’t have prime Wade like Shaq did. He had almost crippled Wade and them knees. And Bosh is like AD now full of talent but always get injured at the wrong time. But, AD is too inconsistent and injury prone to be a true superstar talent. He can rebound for sure but only when healthy enough to play. And he is not giving you 30 a game or more off all rebound. And don’t tell me LBJ had Kyrie and Love as they were inconsistent too and/or injured at the wrong times(playoff time) even 1 game or shooting off or Golden State would not have won 3 of the 4 championships against Cleveland. Bron dragged them to the finals but he needed a little more help from them to win against the stacked GS especially the 2 with KD.

As a woman who has felt the pain of betrayal and divorce from a man who has NEVER admitted anything till this day. This is just so so refreshing and pure. It doesn’t take a way the woman’s pain and those kids pain however, just to admit and “man Up” in this way would possibly ease the pain somewhat. Humans aren’t perfect but to admit the wrong and take responsibility for the hurt inflicted through us upon others will raise you and give you redemption! Amen to that! Much respect Shaq! I can definitely sympathize with Shaq about the father thing. My father has lived in a different state almost my whole life. Only time he was around was when I was a small kid and we never got along. My Uncle however took care of us. Paid for our school clothes, books, etc. I'm 29 now and the only relationship my father and I have is on the phone. We speak maybe 2 times every other week. I'm now an uncle and help take care of my nephew. Ever since he was born i've lost almost all my respect for my father. I can never understand a man who misses holidays, birthdays, etc but just sends a check instead. However when my uncle calls, I pick up that phone. Cause that man was always there when I needed him and still is. I pickup even if I know he's is unhappy with me or wants to nag me.

You are so right. And they’re trying to scandalize their parents and family’s name for how they were raised. Ungrateful brats!! I think of the Jacksons and the late Joe Jackson. That man saw something in his kids that would get them out of Gary, Indiana and render them wealth for generations to come. I cannot speak to all the allegations of abuse, but his pushing them to be great musicians and artists has left them ALL wealthy beyond their wildest dreams. If they ever miss a meal it’d be because they just didn’t WANT to eat; not because they couldn’t. If they ever sleep in a car overnight, it’d be because they just wanted to; definitely not because they HAD to. There should’ve been nothing but sheer honor and respect for both of their parents and soul-searching forgiveness for anything they truly felt he just didn’t do right…not a scandalizing of his name. In that regard, they’ve disrespected “Mother” just as badly. Tsk tsk tsk
