Nice. Starting with a clean slate. My wife and I have always done very similar to all our moves, everything gets painted, all the carpet comes out, all the cabinets thoroughly cleaned inside and out. It gives you a great feeling of, this is our house and our dirt. 😉😊 Our last home on the coast of NC had those popcorn ceilings, my gosh that was a horrible job but worth every aching shoulder muscle. Congratulations on your new move. 🙂

Oh Corrie, I hope that you gave in to the flower buying urge and got yourself some colourful columbines. I grew up with them Grannies Bonnets and had to smile when I saw you looking at those flowers longingly. I’m sure that if you get yourself a few packets of seeds, you could easily scatter plant them as opposed to digging holes for established plants. As my mum used to say, “it’s got two chances”. Keep the gas for emergency heat! At least, in WV that's what we do, because sometimes we get ice storms that cause power outages. It's nice to have backup and supplementary propane heat. House looks like it will be really nice once you are finished!

Just a suggestion, for flowers, maybe contact the NC agriculture people to ask about getting plugs of perennial plants for your area / yard. I am just across the mountain in E TN and purchased bare roots and plugs from the TN ag. I got native food and medicinal plants; wild ginger, columbine, goldenseal, hepatica, red trillium, and partridge berry. I'm excited to plant the spreading ground cover berry on a short but steep hillside and the red trillium under the pines next to the astilbe I purchased from Longfield Gardens - both shade loving plants. The columbine and tequila and lime day lillies will go just outside the shade of the tree shaded area. I love flowers and interesting plants but feel that it's best to plant in a permaculture manner in this day and age. I'm sure your area's native plants aren't much different than ours.

I put all my cabinet hardware in a zip lock baggy of ammonia over night, All the old dirt grease peeled off then washed them, no scrubbing. After they dried I spray painted them gray painted old cabinets white.

I’m so happy for you all!! New house!! Both new babies!!! So exciting!…… I just have one wise offering….. This 62 year old Louisiana hurricane survivor thinks you should have kept the propane….i pray you do not regret it…. Propane was our life line after hurricane Laura……we lived on our patio for 3 weeks…we had HOT COFFEE every morning …..cooked in the outdoor kitchen instead of sandwiches and finger foods.😊

They have outside propane cooker and their parent have a wood stove they would be fine . My cousins children died having gas in their house and she is in a wheelchair chair almost completely paralyzed. They couldn’t smell the gas and the detector didn’t work . Here where we live we can get by without any of that in the house . Just explaining not being sassy ❤I’m southerner and close to their area

Hi y'all. I absolutely love the house. Love the colors also love the counter tops Matt has been working on (via your parents channel). I'm so glad y'all were able to get the house. Praise the Lord for His amazing gift and timing. I'm so glad that now you and Katie will be right nextdoor to each other and Ira and his cousin will get to be playmates. That's how my mom's side of the family is. They are in Arkansas in the Ozarks. My cousins all live on the same road.(My family farm). They all garden, and share their bounty with each other. My Mom and Dad used to always put in popcorn ceilings -- Mom said it hid a multitude of flaws -- of course when I took over their house I immediately got rid of them. I know this is after the fact but you can use a crockpot overnight to clean the pulls. Soapy water, on high, overnight and then some steel wool and there you go. Never fails.
