I will never forget the day Alice walked into my dad's jewelry store and asked if he could fix the clasp on his watch. After 5 days he came back to get it and asked my dad I'd he wanted to go golfing with him, to which he obviously said yes. After that he came back about a year and a half later with a signed poster for me and told me to keep my room clean. That was probably the coolest thing to happen in my youth.

I put another dollar in the respect for Alice Cooper with, "...we were capitalists!" and "We made the hippies mad, we made the tough guys mad, we made the gays mad; we made everybody mad, and went, whadda you gonna do about it?" That's real rebellion in the age of hippie, free-love bullshit.

The joke in Wayne's World 1 really did sum up Alice Cooper really well. Where Wayne and Garth go back stage to meet Alice Cooper and instead of being a typical, rock persona of drugs, sex, and horror, he's a grounded, level-headed, and smart person underneath the imagery. It's a joke and compliment.

Alice was my first concert...on the Raise Your Fist And Yell tour in early 88..with Kip on bass and Kane on guitar. I still have a Kane Roberts personalized pick he threw in my direction and I retrieved. My dad took me to the concert, got right up to the front, and formed a human barricade around me so I wouldnt get squashed. I only knew the words to "Eighteen" at the time, but Alice put the mic in front of my face so I could sing the chorus (more like the word Eighteen) when it came around. His show blew my mind...all of the beheadings, hangings, and gore you would expect. At the end of the show, the band released a bunch of big balloons into the crowd...when the crowd predictably popped them, confetti, glitter, and fake blood rained over the front rows (as if we werent already spattered from the blood-pumping headless corpses etc). Since my dad and I were from over an hour away from town and were in the big city, we had to grab groceries before we went home to the sticks. Once our eyes adjusted to the bright lights of the supermarket, we noticed we looked like we had been in an auto accident in a clown car with few survivors...and people stared at the man and child covered in blood and glitter who were talking to each other like both were half-deaf. A night I'll never forget...I was 11.

One day he was tending to the flowers on the property and heard a familiar voice behind him; he turned around and it was none other than the legend Alice himself. It's like the class clown jock who secretly writes _poetry,_ but he'll knock your lights out if you tell anyone.

I saw Alice live for the first time in 2022. And incidentally it was my younger sister’s first rock concert. In her words, “it set a standard”. I think my favorite moment was during He’s Back and some ‘instagram teens’ were taking photos and Jason came up and sliced the carotid on one of them. Even all the way in the back of the theater I could see the fake blood from her neck. Probably my favorite concert I’ve ever been to for the spectacle alone

You understandably hesitated in calling the Queen episode a Metal Mythos; well, the extent of what you covered proved that this could have been a Music Mythos! Thank you so much for this incredible work. Alice's Brutal Planet (and the accompanying live show) had a profound positive impact on my musical journey but, but had a terribly negative impact on my fashion sense, as did most of the industrial wave of the 2000's. I'm glad we are now past that dark period in time as a species. The fact that you shouted out Missing Persons, one of my absolute favorite New Wave bands, as a reference point for Alice's work in his blackout period made me seek out these albums faster than the speed of light and you are absolutely correct in stating that not everything is a loss. As an avid enjoyed of 80's non metal cheese I am delighted. Finally, I think Along Came A Spider might be unique in that I rarely ever listen to songs from it without letting the rest of the album play; the concept informs everything on the album and even if it's not all top shelf material, I think it works better if you let it all spin sequentially, letting the lyrical and musical callbacks and build-up strengthen the adequate arrangements. I can't think of many concept albums that live up to their concepts so perfectly. Again, thanks for this incredible work, I'm just a bit saddened by the abandon of your previous "best track/worst track" structure for album review; but I understand how constraining it can be.

Killer is absolutely an album of its time. I won't use all the dumb cliches of saying it was "ahead of its time" or whatever, but goddamn. Started watching this last night and couldn’t stop. What a story. Didn’t realise till I got near the end how long it was. Was gripped though. Have had Alice on my playlist all day now. Great work, great subject and great music. Thanks for making me aware of a load of stuff I missed over the years.

I became an Alice fan when I saw his quote about how he wouldn't deem to tell another person what to think as that would imply they can't figure it out for themselves and would be the height of hubris and vanity. That is the most based take ever and one that's completely in opposition to the usual Hollywood actor take of trying to tell us what we should think. PS: 20:15 Ooof, shot across the bow 😂

If you ever want a serious case of belly laughs, look up the video where Tom Morello follows Alex Lifeson for a guitar solo. It's hilarious. some star studded guitar jam thing, Lifeson does a really solid solo. Then steps back, and Morello steps forward. Meeps and moops and squeak-squeaks, followed by basic as hell guitar work.

the secret of Alice's success is that he has a sense of humor and doesn't take himself too seriously. For a big a rock star as he is he always seems very humble in interviews and down to earth. Dont think I've ever heard or read a bad thing about him.

I met Alice at Gameworks in Tempe Az. between 97 and 98. He came in in blue jeans and flannels wearing a hat. He blended right in with everybody. Never acted like a rockstar. He generally just wanted to make sure his son was having a good time. Most importantly he treated employees with respect. I don't know about how he acted at home or what his kids think of him. ON that day I didn't see a celebrity. I saw a damn nice guy doing the kind of stuff dads should do. Half the time you would go into gameworks you would see dads in the bar and kids doing shit alone. Alice was actually paying attention to his kid.

@@TheRageaholic Imagine if someone dared to turn James Randi into a fictionalized character who went around debunking frauds, scammers, fake performers who pretended to be otherworldly with their so-called talents. Heck, a comic book series on that story alone would be worth the read. Thank you for this. I think I asked about this years ago from you lol. Alice Cooper is really special to me, my dad introduced me to him when I was a kid back in like 1980 on a repeat of the Muppet Show, he said "this is who your uncle Steve and I listened to before I met your mom" (Steve was his best friend) and since then he's been the one thing (other than the STL Cardinals) we really bond over. Honestly I think the time my dad was the most proud was during karaoke and I did a perfect imitation of some of Alice's songs. One thing about Hey Stoopid is I love how he kind of reintroduces the Steven mythology in "Wind Up Toy". My favorite of all his albums is honestly "From the Inside", having spent a couple of stints in a physical rehab that was almost like a drug rehab center, it hits hard.

Venom probably B4 fate, but Dio is another two hour epic, at least. I'd love if he did a Cirith Ungol one, bc they were pioneers of power and doom metal in their own right, and, I'd argue, Tim Baker was and is a thrash vocalist, one of the first since they formed in '71. They survived for a decade bc, of all things, they were big in Europe; even inspiring Celtic Frost, whose name is a reference to Ungol's Frost and Fire album. It's also a *weird* band, bc they were contractually obligated to *post* their work to Rakin-Bas, as in 'The Hobbit' cartoon, for quality control. 🤣
