I wanted to get her a couple of cards and asked just to be sure that they wouldn't make her liable, and they said that I am the only guarantor on the debt and issuing another card in her name wouldn't change that, only if we applied for a rate increase with both of our names on the application or something like that. A friend of mine came into his marriage with student debt and even though he payed 90% of their expenses all throughout the marriage with the jobs he got because of that education, when it ended he took the student debt with him. A lot of people assume their relatives or friends who live in the United States are rich and having a good life. It's hard for them to grasp the concept that people can still be struggling with debts and other issues.

Wouldn't it make sense for them to move back to Central America where they have a paid for home and the majority of the kids live there? It's really easy to send money now a days and USD will be a lot more valuable over there. It's cheaper to fly to see them every 3-4 months than maintain this craziness

That was what I was thinking. Sell the house in America. Go live in central America. Live off social security and the profit from the home sale. Come to America every 6 months for medical checkups. So much less money will be used that way.
@monikabennett5 жыл бұрын
Gkbluestocking Sounds like they can't afford the medical facilities here, either.
@johndoe-ii1ko5 жыл бұрын
@@gkbluestocking they're medical facilities are just about the same. Would I get plastic surgery there? No. But if we're talking health and whatnot, they have comparable medical care. Hence why so many Americans travel to Mexico for otherwise expensive surgeries and prescriptions. I think it's more they're leeching off the American husband. The daughter probably promised she'd take care of them or something.
