The reason why there’s no red in the back seats is because of tradition past Civic Types Rs have only had the red seats in the front look at The older EK9 and EP3

Thats because they used to cost cut and use reguler civic seats in the type r. Its now a 40k car and not a budget ricer like back then so it would be nice to break the budget tradition

Type-R was also traditionally been naturally aspirated and now this one is turbo. Watch the next generation ditch the manual and be dual clutch. My point is don't make excuses for the company. I love Honda but this series has so many contradictions. Talk about saving weight and leaving a moon roof out, but then add all the other tech bells and whistles. Red seats in the back don't add extra weight.

Richard Favreau lol there are so many better cars on the market for 50k, buying a civic at 50k+ is never worth it. I could care less if it’s a Type R, it will be more than 20 years before this car is worth more than 50k if it ever is for how many they are making now 🤷‍♂️ Even 40k to me is a joke, but at least it’s more justifiable than 50k for a civic. On the used market this car is pretty damn compelling, but with dealer markups can’t see a good reason to over pay for a brand new Type R you will lose money regardless

Comfort mode there is no sound ...at least there is an off mode.. Sport mode yes, you can hear it. +r mode it's about 50% louder than sport, it does sound fake video game like at high rpm especially during rev hang, but it's not that bad. still completely livable.

@skifree0
@skifree0 4 жыл бұрын
Why do you even need an intake vtec cam.. You get a much bigger effect on changing turbo parameters rather than cam parameters during the intake stroke. And it's not like the turbo is overworked either, if you need more air, it's far easier to turn up the boost rather than additional mechanics on a multi-cam setup.

We will apologize for the exhaust sound. There is a strict restriction on the exhaust sound by law. (under 92db at 3500rpm) So many OEM in Japan will set the exhaust sound around 83-86db at 3500rmp to pass the inspection test (every 2 years), and keep it under 90db even if the glass wool wears out over time. That is the reason for the exhaust sound being so crappy.

Over 2 years dailying my 2018, some of my complaints are the ride quality is great on smooth roads, but I live in PA, and more often than not, our roads are definitely not smooth. Also, build quality. I've gotten a number of rattles in the interior, and the exterior paint is VERY prone to chipping. Another thing about the power delivery - you want to keep the revs up on this thing because otherwise, at low revs, there's a bit of delay before the turbo boost actually built to rocket the car forward. Will say this though - an aftermarket exhaust (which I have on mine) helps with the car's fairly terrible stock exhaust note.

Planet Earth when I drove it stock for 20,000 miles, I enjoyed/liked it. After I modified it and I’m at 27,000 miles, love it. Stock for stock, type R hands down is a hell of a car. But you rarely use 300+ whp as a daily, so it’s really up to your preference/needs when choosing the vehicle. Given my lifestyle, that is nothing special than being a regular person, I just wanted a daily capable of some fun pulls, use for occasional track days, awd, sun roof, heated front seats, reliable and the wrx was perfect for me. Plus there was no stupid mark up on price. Yes type r is track monster and capable daily, but I live in NYC, doubt it lll be capable of handling snow with all season tires. My wrx pulled through a driveway with an incline in 6+ inches of snow with all season tires when I was vacationing in lake placid in February.

If I could have it my way I'd be fine without a sunroof (for the exact reason Honda gave you), get rid of the amplified engine sound (I expect Hondas to have a subdued sound... like it's a ninja haha), I'd nix the fabric on the steering wheel, and the "nanny" systems would be axed.

Wish the Black 2017 CTR was driven as comparison, as I saw that it had mods. Would've loved to have heard the aftermarket intake, which in itself enhances the driving experience tenfold, as the pronounced blow off sound is intoxicating. No need for fake, digital audio sounds...🤦‍♂️ What's the point of bringing older models (especially one with mods) as comparison, when you only did an exterior comparison. Opportunity missed.

I would’ve liked to see a more subtle looking CTR like the the Euro spec Sportline, go Stateside for those of us that would like a more mature looking car with a smaller spoiler and not that massive wing and a darker interior with black or grayish front seats without compromising the performance. Although granted maybe the CTR look more naked without that massive rear spoiler. I would like to see the two stand side by side before making a decision to which I actually like and maybe someday buy

Still too over-styled for this mid-40 year old dad, even though it is probably the best front-driver on sale at this time. Hate the alcantara steering wheel; should have stayed with leather. But hey - race car; excuse to buy driving gloves. I do have to give Honda credit for ditching the cross-drilled front rotors, but I question the switch to 2-piece rotors. It appears that the hats (or bells) are anodized aluminum, which generally does not react well to road salt for those of us in the Rust Belt. The floating rotors are great for track work though.

28:12 I just don't get it with the Golf R prestige. People put this car on par with the CTR but from going out to autox/HPDE events, their performance hasn't impressed me at all. The Golf GTI TCR is a faster car than the Golf R but yet, that car could barely keep up with a Hyundai i30N on track, let alone a CTR. I just have to ask WHY people put the Golf R in the same performance league as a CTR when it really isn't.

I drove my friends Type R in January, and I was surprised how comfortable and quiet it was (I drive an IS350), even road noise was to a minimum. I could definitely live with a Type R as a daily, I don't think I could live with a Veloster N or Focus RS once the novelty wears off...

Heated seats and a sunroof? Nah Honda should continue leaving those type of gimmicks off the equipment list to keep cost down. AWD would just add A LOT of cost, weight and a loss of efficiency and Honda has obviously PROVEN that it can produce a FWD car that can easily outperform AWD performance cars.

The "R" has lost so much meaning in modern day. It used to be: No power steering No sunroof No sound deadening No cruise control No AC No radio No power windows No power seats No air bags No collision bars No sensors. They should've called it the "Type X" or "Type L" for luxury or something. "R" makes no sense anymore.
