Type-R was also traditionally been naturally aspirated and now this one is turbo. Watch the next generation ditch the manual and be dual clutch. My point is don't make excuses for the company. I love Honda but this series has so many contradictions. Talk about saving weight and leaving a moon roof out, but then add all the other tech bells and whistles. Red seats in the back don't add extra weight.

Richard Favreau lol there are so many better cars on the market for 50k, buying a civic at 50k+ is never worth it. I could care less if it’s a Type R, it will be more than 20 years before this car is worth more than 50k if it ever is for how many they are making now 🤷♂️ Even 40k to me is a joke, but at least it’s more justifiable than 50k for a civic. On the used market this car is pretty damn compelling, but with dealer markups can’t see a good reason to over pay for a brand new Type R you will lose money regardless

We will apologize for the exhaust sound. There is a strict restriction on the exhaust sound by law. That is the reason for the exhaust sound being so crappy.

Over 2 years dailying my 2018, some of my complaints are the ride quality is great on smooth roads, but I live in PA, and more often than not, our roads are definitely not smooth. Also, build quality. I've gotten a number of rattles in the interior, and the exterior paint is VERY prone to chipping. Another thing about the power delivery - you want to keep the revs up on this thing because otherwise, at low revs, there's a bit of delay before the turbo boost actually built to rocket the car forward. Will say this though - an aftermarket exhaust (which I have on mine) helps with the car's fairly terrible stock exhaust note.

But you rarely use 300+ whp as a daily, so it’s really up to your preference/needs when choosing the vehicle. Given my lifestyle, that is nothing special than being a regular person, I just wanted a daily capable of some fun pulls, use for occasional track days, awd, sun roof, heated front seats, reliable and the wrx was perfect for me. Plus there was no stupid mark up on price. Yes type r is track monster and capable daily, but I live in NYC, doubt it lll be capable of handling snow with all season tires. My wrx pulled through a driveway with an incline in 6+ inches of snow with all season tires when I was vacationing in lake placid in February.

But hey - race car; excuse to buy driving gloves. I do have to give Honda credit for ditching the cross-drilled front rotors, but I question the switch to 2-piece rotors. I love this generation of Honda Civic. It has been around for half a decade and still considered to be top of the compact car class. i also love how even my old fashioned K20 still averages 34 MPG. Even the startup noise sounds cool lol. Very happy with my car.

28:12 I just don't get it with the Golf R prestige. People put this car on par with the CTR but from going out to autox/HPDE events, their performance hasn't impressed me at all. The Golf GTI TCR is a faster car than the Golf R but yet, that car could barely keep up with a Hyundai i30N on track, let alone a CTR. I just have to ask WHY people put the Golf R in the same performance league as a CTR when it really isn't.
@howlbridges36774 жыл бұрын
Also totally different experience driving a Golf R and Type R. I test drove both before buying my Type R. Golf R is okay but doesnt feel that special or fun. The Type R actually has personality. I love this thing.
@entertained...4 жыл бұрын
that interior bruh...ha ha, i agree with you; sure the golf r is great in a straight line and can be tuned aggressively too, but stock? no thanks; CTR all day every day.

Go drive the Veloster N or a Focus RS and you'll see how Honda could make this car sound even better.
@asifalimirza4 жыл бұрын
@@theredline You are right there. I've never driven a Veloster N or a Focus RS, but both cars (from what I understand) sacrifice comfort, and I've heard from owners that at highway speeds they can be annoyingly loud. I drove my friends Type R in January, and I was surprised how comfortable and quiet it was (I drive an IS350), even road noise was to a minimum. I could definitely live with a Type R as a daily, I don't think I could live with a Veloster N or Focus RS once the novelty wears off...

Heated seats and a sunroof? Nah Honda should continue leaving those type of gimmicks off the equipment list to keep cost down. AWD would just add A LOT of cost, weight and a loss of efficiency and Honda has obviously PROVEN that it can produce a FWD car that can easily outperform AWD performance cars.
@MichaelFlare4 жыл бұрын
The "R" has lost so much meaning in modern day. It used to be: No power steering No sunroof No sound deadening No cruise control No AC No radio No power windows No power seats No air bags No collision bars No sensors. They should've called it the "Type X" or "Type L" for luxury or something. "R" makes no sense anymore.
@theredline4 жыл бұрын
Michael Flare We live in the year 2020... Nobody will buy a car without the modern tech and convenience people demand and expect. It makes driving the car more pleasant and forgiving. A lot of performance cars show you can have both tech and a raw performance feel.
@danielsongomes83674 жыл бұрын
I added a K&N filter to my Type R and it really does boost up the sound of the engine and the blow off valve. Don't need much to make the car sound louder. If you want it even louder, just add an intake.

I just wish the Honda Civic type R had a normal duel exhaust or quad like the WRX and sound a little bit more aggressive to match the looks. Plus I think the duel or quad exhaust will settle down the looks of the type R. Because rn it looks a tad bit to much. But still a great car and I bet it perform well on the track.

I dont understand why the type R's sound so horrible, tons of 4 bangers coming out with some nice sounds. BMW/MINI for example the 3 series sound great. When you hear cars like the Veloster N, BRZ with aftermarket, makes me think Honda is just focusing on efficiency.
