This movie captures the epitome of motherhood so well. Throughout the entire movie we see the robot slowly breaking down, giving so much of herself to complete her task of raising a gossling. The only thing that keeps her going at the end when she is on the verge of shutting down permanently is when the gossling nuzzles up to her neck and tells her he loves her, giving her renewed strength and purpose, making all her efforts and self-sacrifice worth it. It so accurately dipicts the struggle moms face in raising children, while also masterfully showing how love and meaning more than make up for it in the end. My wife was a mess throughout the entire last half of the movie. Such a beautiful film and one that we desperately needed in these times.

The Wild Robot, in my opinion, is the best work of Dreamworks studio today. Here is a wall of text about why I think so: In advance-sorry for my English, it is not my first language.I don't know why l'm writing this, because it will drown in other comments anyway, but I thought I should express these thoughts. I saw some discussions on the topic of who thinks which Dreamworks movie is the best and why is that so. And I wondered - where exactly would I put The Wild Robot in my personal tier list? And I came to the conclusion, that I would put it in the first place - together with the Prince of Egypt. Now I will explain why I decided so. All good, high-quality animated works are diverse in their content and are never about just one thing: they contain elements of comedy, and some kind of action, and sometimes drama, and so on. Nevertheless, there is always ONE basic feature at their core, which usually defines the genre of a particular work, For example, the main feature, the core of the whole Shrek story is (in my opinion) comedy. Yes, there is enough adventure, yes, there are dramatic moments (especially in part 4). But still, the very idea of turning the stories of fairy-tale characters upside down, the whole rethinking classic Disney narratives thing (it's no secret that Dreamworks and Disney have been... "connected" since the founding of the DW) is still comedic, entertaining, rather than anything else. And glorious entertainment it is! In How to Train Your Dragon, the key genre is adventure and action. Yes, there is a lot of good humor, and deep messages, and there was even a place for romance, but it is still a memorable ADVENTURE story due to the extraordinary world of people and dragons built by the author. It was the thrill of seeing these epic creatures that guided the feelings of most viewers who got acquainted with the first film years ago, and this feeling did not go anywhere throughout the history of Hiccup and Toothless. The adventure called the audience to the screen, not the expectation of new jokes (even though they were great too). Kung Fu Panda is a kind of a crossbreed between Shrek and HTTYD. Comedy plays a fundamental part in every film in this series, but still - these are kung fu films, not stand-up compilation. And yet, the change of locations did not attract viewers as much as the story of the formation of the Dragon Warrior named Po. Rather, it's not about a practical adventure, but a spiritual adventure ⁃ Po's transformation from the humble beginning of the first film into a Dragon Warrior and a kung fu teacher was a story of inner growth in the first place. So it's an adventure, but of a completely different kind. And now about the Prince of Egypt and The Wild Robot. The key genre of these animations cannot be precisely defined. There is a good humor (although there is not a lot of that in the Prince of Egypt), there is drama, there is adventure, and action. But still the movies are not really about that. These films are about human connection with the fundamental and absolute concepts of our world. The Prince of Egypt tells the reader one of the most famous stories among all mankind, which plays a key role in the three existing Abrahamic religions. This is a serious and truly Divine topic, as well-known as it is sometimes incomprehen sible to people due to the sublimity of the chosen narratives and the plot as a whole. And Dreamworks did the incredible thing ⁃ they took this story about truly Divine matters and taught it to US at level accessible to most, preserving the connection of this story with the word of God. This is not just a work of art - it is a real feat of conveying certain Divine truths to people in such a way that the story sounds human, without losing its Divinity. Something beyond our experience and understanding has been brought down to us in all its otherworldly beauty. And what about the Wild Robot? The Wild Robot does the same thing, but in a different way - it does not bring down to our level stories, which are greater than ourselves, but digs up in us what has always been a part of us, but was buried deep inside. If the truths of the Prince of Egypt are truly Divine, then the truths of the Wild Robot are truly Human. The nature of motherhood (and parenthood in general), the sense of belonging, nature vs nurture, the essence and content of humanity, the essence of love - all these topics are as fundamental as possible for humanity as a whole. None of this is alien to us, nothing is strange, but everything is relevant - and that's why this piece of art touches the hearts of the audience. Because it's about every person in general. About humans and what it really means to be one. That's why the value of this cartoon is SO high in my eyes - because it goes beyond simple entertainment and pastime, even beyond art in general. This work is an outpouring, an emanation of the human spirit and human nature, first on the pages of the book, and then on the screens. Such things do not happen very often in this world. That's why I rate the story of Roz so highly - at the very first place. At least in my heart. Thank you for your patience ❤️

One of the most beautiful things about this movie is how it shows that Bright Bill's " disadvantages " were actually always his most greatest advantage. This movie broke me in ways that i didn't think were possible but that's how you know the story was good.

I remember crying when I first saw this in theaters...and watching it again (through your guy's reaction), brought those emotions back. Lupita N'Yongo (who voices Roz) deserves an Oscar for her performance in this film and I'm seriously hyped for the sequel. Also, fun fact: This movie was adapted from a book series (there's two other books and I believe Dreamworks is hopefully adapting the second book for the upcoming sequel).

This movie has NO BUSINESS being this good. I discovered it yesterday, I hadn't seen or heard anything about it prior, but holy shit. This came out of nowhere and absolutely smashed it. There arent many animated films to get nominated for best picture. And i dont think this will be, but it damn well deserves to be.

There are so many parts that make me cry. But the scenes where Bright Bill is learning to fly to the point he leaves with the flock, I'm a mess.

Me and my girlfriend recently watched this movie in theaters and we both cried at several points. It kind of also made us both realise how much we want to be parents someday when we can afford it/handle it. Also as an artist myself the animation is stellar in this film, I can't say anything bad about it.

I adore this movie and cried through it 3 times. I took my mom and then my friend and nephew. I did notice and appreciate it more. I'm so sad it didn't do better because it was the best movie of the year and one of my favorite animated films ever. It's based on 3 books and they are supposed to make a sequel. I can't wait. Thank you for reacting to it and your insightful comments. I hope more people see it

I went to see this movie with my friends after school, we decided to take a break & enjoy one Friday together as schoolwork was too heavy that week. I wasn't able to talk with my best friend due to the projects we had, which only allowed me to chat with her for a very brief moment at the end of every day. When I saw the movie, I got a weird feeling - seeing Brightbill interact with Roz & be so attached to her as a baby reminded me of how I used to talk all day non-stop with her (I probably annoyed her) but then, when Roz starts taking care of him & eventually becoming his mother... it reminded me of how caring my best friend is, how sweet & gentle she's to everyone she knows, but most importantly, how good she's treated me - asking me how my day went, wanting to do activities together, sharing art with me & making sure I was alright. I know 'The Wild Robot' is a movie that develops the concept of motherhood all throughout the movie, but to me, it allowed me to reconnect with one of the most important persons in my life, a woman who's been there since day one & has done so much for me. I couldn't have asked for not only a greater best friend, but a family. This movie has not only become my favorite movie, but it made me remember that, there's a person where I've found shelter in. If you still haven't done so, go watch 'The Wild Robot' & enjoy the film with your family, whether it's your mother, father, brother, sister, your son, your daughter, your best friend, your partner, anyone. Make sure they know you love them all. If my best friend happens to read this, THANK YOU BRENDA, wherever you might be right now. You are the GREATEST artist of the whole Universe. & thank you guys for checking the movie out! :)

I read the book in my middle school. Even though I knew what would happen in the book, it still blew my expectations. The animation really helped to bring so much emotions out of every scene. Yes parenthood is a main theme, but there is also themes about community, being a outsider, and how anyone can be part of a family. I almost cried once, and Roz is my favorite fictional robot. She has a character arc throughout the movie that I haven't seen in other fictional robots. ❤❤❤

The migration scene got me so bad bc it broke a bunch of expectations at once.. he flew away without saying anything, and i thought thats the end of the scene.. NOPE Roz runs to see him; okay, music builds up and the sky is empty.. NOPE the geese are still there!! Awe but she wont be able to see him and say goodbye, NOPE Longneck turns around for the goodbye.. .. oh and ofc that bloody music😭😭💖🤖🪿

Can we talk about the scene where Roz goes to discover what she actually is, and when she discusses with her other robot counter part, you can just SEE the development she has gone through compared the bot she just woke up, that I say is PEAK character development and story design.
