Just wanted to say a big thanks all the way from outback Australia . Ive been a hunter and fisherman and sheep farmer for 30 odd years and learned an enormous amount about butchery and “back to basic” processing and cooking of meats from your channel enjoying your dry pom humor along the way . Love your work and appreciate the effort you put into sharing and teaching your craft in the old school way .

Hey Scott, Have you ever done a video covering the "rules" for the timing of gutting, skinning, etc etc after death? I may have missed it if you have. If you haven't though, that would be really helpful.

I was driving to breakfast early one morning when a rabbit ran across the road in front of me. I luckily didn’t hit it with a tire, but I saw it spinning in the road behind me. I’m not one to waste meat so I turned around and retrieved it from the road. After breakfast I got back in the car to drive home, and when I looked in my rear view mirror the bunny was sitting up looking at me. He was a bit wobbly on the ride home, but he made a couple delicious meals!

Just a stunning transformation! Back in the day we used to ride our 50cc bikes back and find roadkill, We would either sell them to the local butcher or process and eat them. It simply revolved around what time they were found! I often; as a pillion, had three in my jacket!

Thanks Scott looks great.I usually pan fry my rabbit in bacon drippings and use it as a base for my gravy and dump that over rice topped with green onion.

Good stuff as always... I've been watching your channel long enough that I've been conditioned to hear at the end, "So if you've like what you've seen here today on the #SRP..." Anyway, it always amazes me how a great butcher can make something out of nothing. Three meals!! Awesome.

After watching your video and actually doing following your recipe in making rabbit stew really came out so delicious. My son enjoyed it and even my father and grandmother (who cook rabbit a lot) were impressed with how it came out. I was very pleased. I've truly lost it....Watching Gourmet Cooking of ROAD KILL Rabbit !!! This is truly going DEEP into the proverbial Rabbit Hole LoL . But must admit the Stew looked excellent , and the Wellington could be served in an upscale restaurant . The Confit , well , I'm not shure, a cultural thing perhaps ? Looking forward to my next walk in the woods with a shotgun in hand . Ontario Canada .

Great video,, rabbits used to be a regular on my table ,tho last mixi n other odd things seems to have obliterated our rabbits which usually come back after a year or two,, rather sad ,don't know what's going on ,certainly not hunting as nearly all lads have stopped ferrets n dogs,guns n no new stock of lads introduced into old ways ,, mabe the hemorrhage virus ,, who knows,, keep up the vids 👌👍

I’ve always wondered if some of the roadkill I see is edible. Wasn’t sure if rigour meant it was too late
@tiff21062 жыл бұрын
Rigor Mortis starts at as early as 1h after death (small animals, larger 6-8h) and last for up to 48h, usually max 24h. I‘d say it depends on the temperatures outside. With this, trust your nose, decomposition is not to miss! I’d be careful if the intestines are broken as the bacteria could have gotten into the meat.
