Oh yeah, by how the Premier League is arranged, the level and money there is in the league, England is gonna keep pumping out stars. The more popular and well funded football is at a country, the better players turn out. Look at Uruguay, you don't even need much population, it's mostly about popularity of the sport and/or funding. South america relies a lot on pure popularity, while Europe relies on a mix of both, England has the best funding in the world and very good popularity.

Foden is playing poor because Trippier is not a threat on the overlap, so the right sided defenders are happy to sit back and then surround Foden when he gets the ball which causes him majority of the time to cut inside or pass back into midfield. The guy has quality, but the support is not there for him. No one is making runs and drawing defenders off him.

The issue is the left hand side of the pitch.we have no width from lb to lw. We either need to go to 3 at the back and use trip's as a left cb and then you use Gordon as a lw. Or you find a lb who will run past foden on the lw which trip's won't do personally I'd give gomez a go at that as he played it for liverpool and got forward. Also, seems every armchair expert can see that Bellingham should be moved next to Rice, Foden central, Gordon left. That way Kane has 2 runners each side of him, and Foden is in his best position. This is not the first time Kane went missing in group stages. He didn't score a single goal last world cup's group stages. scored the second goal against Senegal (R16) and a penalty against France. Need Trent on for his beautiful deliveries, the issue is he doesn't have runners. The issue of the team is lack of cohesion between width and stretching the play. Trent at RB is better as he will roam forward, giving Saka more to play with. Anthony Gordon absolutely needs to be starting on left wing and he needs an overlapping LB. Bellingham as an 8, Rice as a 6, Palmer as the 10. That's your team.

Ok, I’m not a football technician, but I am aware that there is a very expensive and skilful bunch of guys out there, who generally play very well each week with their regular teammates, but their regular mates are all other international players representing other teams, so they are surely playing from different instructions which obviously don’t get the best out of their individual skills.

19:20. Totally agree with this. You have to watch how Bellingham got his goals to know if that's going to work in the England team. Madrid's forwards float around. They create overloads and leave the 9 position vacated, so Bellingham could pop up in those places. That's not what is happening for England. The best true 10 on the team is Foden or Palmer. They should be central. Gordon on the left. Saka on the right.

Play Saka as a very attacking LB, with Walker forming 3 CB set up when Saka get advanced up the pitch, play Palmer RM, Gordon LM, Mainoo and Rice as a double pivot in CM, although I think Rice is not playing well. Bellingham and Foden as Two 10s behind Kane. As a Villa fan I would like to see Watkins given a game from 60 mins. Tell Kane run around like you are only playing for 60 mins. Play aggressive bold brand of football and score more than the oppos.

I'm going to be honest I don't think Southgate is telling Foden to pass it more to Pickford than Kane. The team doesn't pass any progressive passes it's all sideways or back, how the fuck does an attacking midfielder have 3x more passes to the GK than the striker.

Kane should be dropped for an attacker that wants to run behind and press - Ollie Watkins. We need a LW on the left wing - Anthony Gordon. We need Foden to play as a 10. We need Wharton to sit and Bellingham to play as an 8 (maybe even Bellingham needs to be looked at and dropped for Mainoo). Saka is okay on the right. The defence can stay as it is until/unless Shaw is fit to play. Whatever happens, the team will still not be balanced - we don't have a left-footed LB who plays there for his team; that's on Southgate. Play players in the positions that they play week in, week out for their teams. None of this will happen for one reason...Southgate; the most useless, cowardly manager England has had in a long time.
