Titan swaps are pretty common on 2nd gen Xterras and Frontiers. It gives you beef your front end components, so you're less likely to break a CV or tie rod.
@TheSmittysGarageКүн бұрын
@mr2gud2u actually, people are breaking CVs more after Titan swapping because they are using cheap QX axles. It's less common for people to break stock R180 axles in stock modified form. Factory OEM CVs are the strongest most cost effective option.

As a 19 Pro4X owner going on 4 years driving in all conditions, the difference between a Frontier and a Tacoma really just comes down to preference just like choosing between a Silverado or a F150. I’d go with the Nissan, but of course my opinion is a little biased. The power plant in mine, 19 and prior - the 4.0 was around for over 15 years and considered one of the most reliable engines on the road. The new 3.8 is proving to be great as well over the last couple of years. Glad to see the Frontier getting the attention it deserves as of late.

I wheel a Titan-swapped Xterra 3.5" Radflo lifted, fully armored and 34's Grabbers and locked. These vehicles are very good when kitted out but issue is wait times. You can get any part you want in less than a week with a Toyota or a Jeep but while you can get the same mods for the Nissans they're a lot few companies that make them and you can wait months for bumpers and sliders to be made. Chad and Steven from ADO have helped me with my rig as well.

It's nice to see Nissan Frontier showing what it can do. There has been too much obsession with Toyota lately. I was looking for Nissan videos and found that Chris Forsberg built a Titan and a couple of Frontiers. The Titan swap by Chris Forsberg explained that it gives the truck a wider wheel track (more stability), more wheel travel (better articulation), stronger suspension components, bigger brakes, and bigger tires for more ground clearance under the diff. The Titan swap can also include taking the V8 from the Titan and putting it into a Frontier for increased performance. A Titan swapped Frontier can have the capability and performance of a Ranger Raptor but at a fraction of the price. In Australia, a Nissan truck was the first to cross the Simpson Desert and is considered equal or superior in quality/ability to Toyota by some offroad enthusiasts.
@rhdjdmda6Күн бұрын
I like Nissan trucks. But Toyota has been the talk for a reason. Nissan keep dropping the ball over and over with their truck lineup.
@aerynlovell4754Күн бұрын
@@rhdjdmda6 I don't think Nissan has dropped the ball. They just haven't gone as high tech with their trucks as Toyota and the other manufacturers. But recently Toyota had massive recalls because when you push technology sometimes you make mistakes or have production issues. Nissan has been ridiculed for using old technology and not updating the look and technology in their trucks. I think it's better to experiment with technology in a sports car because it's a toy or a pleasure vehicle. A truck is used for work and needs to be reliable. So I want 10 year old technology in my truck because it's been torture tested, it's proven that it works, and when it breaks replacement parts are easy to buy from any auto supply store. If you take your 4X4 off-road then you will break something and the more high tech your truck the more difficult it will be to fix and you may have to wait for a replacement part to be shipped to you.
@TheSmittysGarageКүн бұрын
Chris Forseberg is leaching off the Titan swap idea from 20 years a go. It's nothing new. The components are also not beefier unless you swap to a M205. Also, Brennan from Driven Desire fathered the VK swap.
@aerynlovell4754Күн бұрын
@@TheSmittysGarage The Titan is a heavier truck than the Frontier, so obviously, the suspension components will be "beefier" or stronger to handle the off-road abuse from the heavier Titan. I don't know who pioneered the "Titan swap" or who is leeching off of who. But since Chris Forsberg has a relationship with Nissan through his racing team, he was able to modify a Frontier, and those changes were incorporated into the Forsberg Edition Frontier. He recently installed a mid-travel suspension on his race truck with a Deaver spring under kit. In 2022 he built a "concept Frontier" for SEMA with a complete Titan swap including the V8 and complete drivetrain into a Frontier with a carbon fiber widebody kit that has wheel openings big enough for 35-inch tires. The ability to put a V8 into a Frontier gives it equal or superior performance to a Ranger Raptor. His relationship with Nissan means that hopefully a future Frontier could be offered with a mid-travel offroad suspension and other performance parts.
@TheSmittysGarageКүн бұрын
@aerynlovell4754 won't happen but ok. How many Titan swaps have you done? I've worked on these trucks and sold parts for them for three years, I'm pretty familiar with the differences. I also did the first VK/6speed swap into an Xterra thanks to Driven Desire and C3 Performance.

It's good to finally see Nissan get some love on this channel. It always seemed as though TFL shit on Nissan in their reviews. I realize that was due to all the whiz bang and bling BS other manufacturers were adding to their product lines. However, all that did was price people out of the market and add complex systems that are extremely costly to repair. Whereas Nissan stayed tried and true with the KISS method of manufacturing their vehicles. Cost was cheaper, no BS turbo 4 cylinder engines, and quality some say similar to Toyota. I could go on. At least the Frontier is still available here. Sadly, the Titan is done as of this year and it might have done better had it had more positive a push to people who want a real truck, not a car disguised as a truck as many trucks are now...

Now that prices on mid-sized trucks are crazy a cheaper truck with a naturally aspirated engine is looking like a smart decision.

I would NOT give that up for a Frontier. That Tacoma worth its weight in gold. Honestly, I am thinking that in a few years I will trade in my F150 for a 2022 clean Tacoma to keep it forever.

I recently compared the new Taco and Frontier. The Taco felt modern and much more responsive than the Frontier. And even more so over the 3rd Gen Taco. The Frontier felt old and dated. The interior wouldn't feel modern by 2005 standards.

I trade it in my 2022 Nissan Frontier for a 2025 Nissan Frontier because of the minor improvements made it much better.

another benefit of the nissan is its just a plain ole V6. no hybrid or turbo. simple is good.

I'll just say that I'm still a big fan of the frontier! For the price of a fully loaded Tacoma TRD pro or a nison / ranger tremor that cost at 56-70k you can get a pro4x or a 4x4 at around 42-4000 and still have any $ 10,000 left to upgrade, and modify it as you see for and as you can afford it! I want to see more!! Hey Tommy @tfl y'all should get a frontier 4x4/ pro4x get it and. upgrade it and then compare it against a TRD pro/ rather tremor/ raptor, trail boss or a bison

cool tire size, didnt know 255/80/17r existed. could be viable for lifted grand cherokees someday.

What does the Titan swap do to the overall payload on the Frontier?
@is656617 сағат бұрын
Nothing. Your payload is not impacted one way or the other.

I was hoping Titan Swapped meant it had the V8 (somehow)

Bolts right up actually!
@daywalker4029Күн бұрын
That’s known as a VK swap and the Titan v8 also drops into the frontier with little to no mods.
@ALMX5DPКүн бұрын
@@daywalker4029 is that true for this newest generation? I know the older model was very simple though I just envision a bit more electronics in the new one especially related to the engine wiring harness and ECU.
@daywalker4029Күн бұрын
@@ALMX5DP Nissan did it in their 3rd gen frontier for SEMA a couple years ago. It’s still possible but more costly with the direct injection and added complexity to the wiring

I really wish Nissan still sold the Frontier with a manual transmission. That would seal the deal for us.
