I rarely comment on videos but this is the best video on green reading I've ever watched. A combination of lining up the putt outside the hole to not miss it low, and then moving my head until my eyes agreed on the start line saw me drain the most putts outside of 3 feet ever in a round. Thanks!

Great video! Lots to take in, but a couple quick takeaways; If your gonna miss, miss on the high side. Therefore, over read your reads (IE: assume more break). In a way, it kind reminds me of simple strategies like, aiming for the fat part of the green.

There’s always color variations and small debris on the greens, if you can find a landmark in those variations where your aim point is within 2-3 feet of your stance, it makes lining up your shot easier. I stand behind my ball and while I have my ball and the cup are in sight, I take my practice swings to visualize my speed, then pick out my aim point and my landmark closer to the ball. Then I address the ball and align to my landmark then swing with the same speed as my practice stroke. I will keep these lessons in mind, maybe my 1 putt % will go up a bit.

Hi Matt, I use a putting line cheat when dealing with slope. It’s quite simple try it out: [(distance (yards) x 2) - 1] x slope (1% = 1, 2% = 2, etc) = break in inches from the hole. Example, a 2 yard put with a 2% slope would break by 6 inches (15cm) [(2x2)-1 = 3x2=6]. Like your video a lot as I am also a SAFA.😂
@GolfSidekickАй бұрын
I don't know that one but here is one I know First find the zero break line - where the putt is dead striaght from high to low point around that hole. 3 oclock (and 9 o clock) from the zero break line - the amount of break up the zero break line from where your ball is calculated: Degrees of slope / 2 * distance in feet = inches of break up the zero break (fall line) 3 o clock for example could be 3° of slope divided by 2 = 1.5....multiplied by 10 feet = 15 inches up the zero line. 4 o clock is 15 inches * 90% (0.9) 5 o clock is 15 inches * 50% (0.5) 5:30 o clock is 15 inches * 25% (0.25) 6 o clock is straight Works as long as the green is a flat clock, tilted to make it not level.
@prisma6163Ай бұрын
@@GolfSidekick I think what you have described is almost exactly the same as mine, just put in a more complex way i.e. on your example as the clock changes from 3 (3% slope) o'clock closer to 6 (0% slope) o'clock the slope decreases and therefore the aim point in inches. If you take 3 o'clock as an example on my calc it would look like this: ((distance (3 yards) x 2)-1 = 5 x slope (3%) = 15 inches aim point - similar to your estimates. As the slope declines (90%, 50%, etc) the aimpoint would adjust accordingly. Using the 50% slope change my calc would be (3y * 2 -1 = 5 * 1.5 (% slope) = 7.5 inches of aim point. I think most golfers would benefit materially if they just reverted to such a simple technique as it would remove uncertainty from where to aim. The obvious issue is obviously reading slope appropriately - maybe that is where you could help in a follow up video i.e. use a electronic slope meter to gauge different slopes and learn your feel / feet accordingly. Let me know your thoughts. Cheers.🤔

A lot of people can see the break of a putt correctly, but try to roll the ball along that line. An easy trick is to place an imaginary cup on the highest spot of the break that u see (66% approx of the way as Matty says), see the break to that spot, then putt to that imaginary cup. Especially useful for gauging correct pace on longer big breaking putts on fast greens.

Hello there, playa! Thank you for all the content! I have shaved off around 5 to 10 strokes this year on my average round by using your targeting methods, course management, and staying 100% away from swing tip videos. Last year, my best round was 92. I shot 84 last week! My biggest flaw is off the tee. I can hit great tee shots with my 3 wood (230-250 yards total) with some here and there missing left and right. If it's really tight, I'll use my 5i or 6i. But let me tell you what... my driver is just broken and I don't know what to do. I have a coach I go to somewhat regularly, but they are not really able to fix my driving issue. I go from terrible pull hooks to crazy 120-yard slices. This is so frustrating because I genuinely feel as though I'm getting much better in all other aspects. I feel as though I am leaving a lot of strokes on the table, simple by not being able to hit my driver. PLEASE HELP A BROTHER OUT
