I call this the "Corvette effect". When the C5 came out, but especially the C6, and it was smoking supercars for a quarter of the money and it was more reliable at the same time, all the status symbol fans were doing logical acrobatics to explain why its a horrible car. The only reason they did this, is because the Corvette is American. But for a minute imagine the Corvette was never American, and instead german. Nothing changes, not the price, not the performance, not the looks, just the national origin. If the Corvette was german, those same people would be ranting and raving and not be able to shut up about what an amazing car it is, and how its proof of "german engineering". Same with Cadillac.

I love the car, but Cadillac really screwed up the naming of these cars. The CTS-V is now the CT5-V, the Blackwing was the name of the twin turbo V8 project that is now dead, now it's the name of the performance package of the V performance package. It's all strange to me.

Every time I drive my CT5 Blackwing, I am reminded that this is the best sports sedan on the planet. Nothing comes close. It feels like a lightweight compared to even the last gen M5. It is the scalpel and the sledgehammer all in the same package. Insane what the GM engineers have accomplished!

I picked up a 4BW with six speed and a few options, last month. Twin turbo V6 and it’s lighter, so it’s a bit more of a backroad fun car. I think of it as a fast frigate and the 5Bw is a destroyer.

I got to visit the GM additive machining facility. They 3D print the Blackwing shifters from there because of the low numbers. They also 3D print plastic vent ducts for the Blackwing there.

I love these cars! I own 2 of them now and hope to buy 2 in 2025. The only real complain that I have about these is the size of the tank. Once you fill up, the range is never more than 200 miles if you drive it spiritedly, the range is going to be 140 miles. I want all of my cars, this is actually the worst before I bought my first black wing, it was the project 8 that had the worst range. The CT5 V BW, just really needs a 19+ gallon tank.

Agreed. The one fault being the 17.5 tank = always looking for the next station. At least where I live, I can access E0 93 which gives a little more power and a little more range.

I drove one of these (MY2023, ct5v blackwing 6MT) across the sequoias, 1100 miles. It was a fantastic tour of gas stations along the west coast, I believe we stopped for fuel 7 times averaging 13.2mpg 😂. Certain portions of the trip hovered around 11.7 mpg. One thing I noticed, California 91 caused a lot of pinging at mid rpm during fast throttle transients. Switching to Nevada 91 it felt a lot stronger and the pinging was gone!

Love seeing y'all at my local track. I always forget to take my truck out of park after signing in on that stupid steep entry road to the paddock and gun it and go nowhere. Embarrassing every time lol Also 12:45 ish there's just enough of a bump on the exit of corner 6 there that'll make just about any car oversteer there, including my NA miata, and I've seen plenty of folks loop it there - great video btw.

That screen looks 97,000% better than the hideous BMW iDrive interface. The curvature and edge-rounding blend it with the dash and help it look like it belongs in the car, versus appearing like a pasted-on afterthought. The graphics are also vastly less ugly.

ikrrr? bmw and mbux has such an awful and dated interface especially their "navigation". Cadillacs is so much smoother, dated, sharper, and overall is just an eye candy. Beats those German operating systems and definitely beats carplay. It's a true android automotive software.

Save the V8, V6, turbo 4! Not an EV convert yet(not until I have to be). I will go hybrid first. We’ll see if there will be a slow down in EV pressure with a new administration? I wouldn’t rule out an Ionic 5 N with the synthesized engine noises. I just love the noises an ICE engine makes. Thanks for keeping SMT entertaining!

I have the Luxury 2025 version. I love the 335 HP out of the twin turbo V6. This V8 would just get me into trouble. Also….mine is AWD whereas the Balckwing is only offered in RWD.

Although you are comparing this new Precision Pack Blackwing to the non-Precision Pack variant for obvious reasons, I would be really interested to see how it compares to the final generation CTS-V it evolved from. That model made 640 HP, and had similar bones. I drove one, and although it was very fast and comfortable, the ATS-V I drove on the same day was much more fun--at least on a technical track closer to the one your drove. I wonder how much the handling chops have improved since the introduction of the Blackwing label, and with this latest bit of Precision. How far have they come since 2015?

I was fortunate enough to grab a fully loaded 24 ct5v bw auto, off the showroom floor.... What an absolute beast when you want it & also smooth af for your wife, or kids, well maybe not kids...i took it a step further....sent it to Hennessey for the H1000 Exorsist package ..should be back mid Jan. 1000hp / 966 ft torque. I can't imagine what's coming back...h1000 bw smokes the awd Aventador in ¼ mile with a 30mph rolling start. From a dig the awd Aventador obviously is quicker off the line. This guy is completely incorrect. The bw is a supercar 1st. Luxury car 2nd. I'm glad i grabbed the 24 vs the 25...24 looks severely more aggressive especially with all the carbon fiber packages. He has a video driving the H1000 bw manual (which initially had an issue with easy starts like in heavy traffic) which has been fixed. This was never an issue with the autos. Hennessey offers a full 3yr/36k warranty. Upgrade is 50k to 55k depending on if they're offering a 5k discount...baddest mf'r on the road...& the exhaust...has to be heard in person...these vids do it no justice.. the traction control, launching control, magnetic suspension is flawless...shes the perfect beast..
