Yep, me thinks he protests too much !!’ Dave the baggers🤣. We’ve just been watching and I guessed your route only because I’ve plotted nearly the same one but adding Caw Fell because we ‘are’ baggers 🤣 We are looking for a good weekend early next year ! ?! I knew it would be a decent distance. Well done mate, keep up the great work

Hi again Dave, i've just watched your new video and have to say i was blown away this time! i mean i felt like i was ,i even had to turn the volume down on my computer!Oh my lord that was blowing a hooley ! Lovely seeing the rainbow though , i guess that''s the reward. I don't know about you being a bagger, but maybe a bragger!What a small world though seeing your friend up there , i cant believe that!I'm glad it wasn't the hound of the Baskervlle coming out of that mist though!I must say in life there are people that their glass is half full or half empty , well i would say you are a completely full glass person ! even in the wind and rain you could see the positive like well the sun is trying to come through! there's resilient and then there's super Teflon coated , i think you are the latter! I did feel for you putting your tent away in that wind.I was watching a video last night about a Canadian chap who hiked and canoed across the Artic solo in the summer and he was in tent in a storm and was worried the pegs might not hold ! There were also thousands of mosquito's and black fly so he had to have a net covering his face on his hat , It was fascinating seeing the different landscape and vast rivers and animals like bears and wolf etc .But although it was brilliant i wasn't as good as your video of course !! Well Dave thanks again for providing some thing interesting to watch on these cold dark evenings. Take care and hope your feeling better soon so you can get back to your beloved mountains .Kind regards again Jane

Thanks Jane 🙏🏻There have been plenty of times over the past couple of years in my personal life when I’ve felt far from being resilient. I keep plodding on tho. There’s no alternative really. Glad you enjoyed the video. It’s always a pleasure to read your comments - take care - Dave
@janehunter62852 жыл бұрын
@@TheSoloSummiteer Thanks for your reply Dave especially when your not feeling so good , just wanted to say i know exactly what you are saying its just i am a bit further along in the process, than you , and yes you are right sometimes it feels too hard to keep going but as you say what is the alternative , but just keep on plodding along and keeping one foot in front of the other ,but i really was referring to you being resilient in the way what ever the weather you navigate through and don't just turn around and give in , expect when its really necessary of course.Its strange how when you have been through big things in life , you end up finding that it is really the smallest things that can mean something or just cheer you up that maybe wouldn't have meant so much before ,and its those things that keep us going i think . Today i heard a bird singing outside of the window and i haven't heard one for ages it really was singing its heart out and it stopped me in my work ,it was just so lovely and that was the best part of my day! but as say it really is the smallest of things. we have to hold on to but although we might not feel resilient it grows over time without us realising ,but yes its not an easy road that's for sure. I'm so sorry i really have got carried away!.Anyway you are an inspiration to a lot of people so ,don't forget that, and hopefully you will be back soon enjoying those gorgeous hills and mountains .

Super video, Dave. I knew where you were from the first scene! A favourite trio of Wasdale hills is Middle, Seatallen and Buckbarrow and one I often do if the more popular Wasdale hills are likely to be busy. Rarely see many people up these 3. I think the view of Wastwater, the Scafells and the Screes from Middle Fell is one of the best in the area and camping overlooking the lake is amazing, especially when the light from the sunset hits the Screes. I've never added Haycock to them though but have seen that high level contour you used, so that's food for thought, thanks for the idea. And it's amazing how many Wainwrights you just 'stumble' across, given you're not a bagger! 🤣 Seriously though, it's not a bad plan, to get the tricky ones done and leave the easier ones if the knees give in and bagging at least makes you visit new areas and new routes.
@TheSoloSummiteer2 жыл бұрын
Big thanks Irene. Nice to hear from someone who’s familiar with the area. I thought the views I got of the Scafells were amazing. I loved it. Glad you enjoyed it too 🙏🏻. Take care - Dave

@@TheSoloSummiteer It so nice to see familiar ground! If memory serves, the sun only gets far enough north to hit the Screes at sunset for just a few months of the year but on a clear day, it's just jaw-dropping. Look forward to the next video.

I can't help it lol, but you should of been born in West Bromwich, you'd most certainly would of been a baggies fan, you're definitely a bagger though 😉 A.W. would be proud of you coming out of the closest so to speak 👏 🤣. You mentioned your shorts and they looked cool, I did look in your description but no details buddy. Could you also put a link or description of where you got your water bottle holder from that you use that attaches to your pack strap if possible? thanks in advance. Good old Andy B meeting you at the top 😆. Nice surprise and good to have company. Cracking pictures of the 2 tents at night, the weather in the morning didn't seem like September, more like November with the wind and rain. Once the rain had cleared it looked beautiful in the morning, even a rainbow 🌈 too 😍. I know this is a video from September, still great entertainment though as usual, as I mentioned, get better soon Dave (in mind, body, and soul)👍 Enjoy the rest of your weekend and see you on your next adventure ✌️ 🤟 🤙

Nice one as always Dave and what a nice surprise bumping into Andy like that...Thank god he wasnt wearing his paper round jacket that Colombia gave him :) Can you Police the clothing choices of Andy and Scott please as part of the 3 Amigos you are the one that i personally would elect as the leader of the style council. Your Xmid stood up well there against Andys Terra Nova but not sure if the video gave a true measure of how BOTH the tents coped. I haven't got an original inner for my Xmid , i just use a Chinese one and my xmid is bright Orange which i do really like but the past few months i have preferred using my Hex Peak for quite a few reasons...one is that it is roomier and more of a perfect shape and the inner has more room , i use a wide Xtherm and the inner can easily cope with a 65litre pack on the floor space aswell as the matt. I think i prefer it because its a much cheaper piece of kit but it really stands up well in the wind and when i am using my expensive tents i tend to be mindful of thier cost and am kid of worried about man handling them too and doing things like cooking inside them but with the Hex Peak i treat it a bit rougher because it wouldn't cost a great deal to replace but it really does stand its ground and i couldn't recommend it enough plus its green so blends in well....i would love to see a test with an Hex Peak V Xmid in high winds ...IMO i would say the Hex Peak would win. Also when the Hex Peak inner is correctly deployed its much roomier than the Chinese inner and doesn't flap against my head .
@TheSoloSummiteer2 жыл бұрын
Haha. Quality Olan 😆. There’s little hope of saving them men when it come to hiking attire 😁. My tent is the MLD Duomid. It was absolutely fine in those winds but was on a nice flat pitch which really helps. In my experience it’s good up to about 30mph winds. Most people don’t use them for summit camping like I do, though. Chinese inner is ok. Got the MLD inner too but it’s full mesh so a bit draughty for winter. ATB pal 👍
@Olan...2 жыл бұрын
@@TheSoloSummiteer :) Oooops sorry Dave i always forget the names of my tents and the rest of my gear.Thats what i meant....my MLD Duomid is bright orange so if i go out on the weekend its a bit much , would have prefered the same colour as yours but it wasnt available without a long wait and i found mine brand new on ebay. I do love it but like i said the much cheaper Hex Peak actually performs even better although you need to spend a good hour seam sealing it....Keep em coming Dave....i hope you get back on your feet soon, Minus 10 is on its way to the Peak district this week :)
