Probably one of the few things the Jedi did right. As opposed to deceiving themselves that good and bad emotions could be surgically separated like conjoined twins (rather than being mutually and inextricably intertwined like light and shadow).

Excellent history lesson. Although Bane did not physically find anything but sand and dust in the tombs, it was an embarrassing lesson. A lesson which cost him position within the academy, opening his eyes to the weakness and corruption within the Brother of Darkness. This additional anger and hatred gave him more ambition than ever before, despite his failure. After this, it's as if the Dark Side looked upon Bane with favor. Giving him more power and insight. It fueled his continued search for knowledge, allowing him to learn the secrets of holocrons as well as find Revan's holocron. Without his failure on a ruined and desolate Korriban, Bane may never have gotten past the gatekeeper in Revan's holocron giving him the idea for the rule of two which would end weakness within the Sith, bringing them back to power.

This is why the truly ancient Sith were so powerful, and why the Jedi had to be just as powerful back then. After that moment, everything changed.

Great lesson. Bane had to gather holocrons,scrools,teachings. And he did it. It was light side of the Force that achieved this victory and allowed the Jedi to do this. Of course they took the opportunity. Bane had to find holocrons and scrools on the market or tombs. Similar to Sidious who found scrools mostly on the market. May the Force be with you too😊Have amazing day too😀

Until the "Rule of 2" Era however let's not forget that more times then the Jedi the Sith came EXTREMELY close to totally wiping out their rivals. Sideous being th most recent. But there WAS times when basically, ONLY 1 OR 2, Jedi was ALL that was left. Unless I've forgotten or misremembered something. Especially in fighting which apparently Sith was good at since the VERY start. An still even in Sideous's time a Sith was nothing to take lightly in a fight or battle. Since sounds like Addus basically gave the Rakkatans their own version of "Vietnam".

It makes great sense why compared to Ancient Sith, Modern Sith can’t measure up based around the lack of knowledge from said Ancient Sith and the Dark. Sidious being the most powerful modern Sith, but falls very short on the caliber to the Ancients. Maybe just qualifying the caliber of Sith during the Old Republic Era. Plus, the millennia of Sith not infighting has dwelled the level of pure power in the Dark. Modern Jedi also weakened as their foe had gone into hiding for so long thinking the Sith were extinct.

Considering that the Force wants balance, would it have mattered ? Would there not have been some sort of rebellion / uprising, with Sith having had enough if the Jedi had not weakened the Sith as much ? Either, fracturing enough from infighting to give rise to a new 'republic and jedi order' or maybe even completly forego Jedi and resulting in a combination of Jedi and Sith, more 'neutral' / balanced ?
@westington1
@westington1 Жыл бұрын
The force does seek balance, but that means removing dark-side users. I know other writers like the EU / Legends authors put forward different interpretations of the force and how it all works, but Lucas states the force in balance is the force without any dark-side users. It’s the dark-side that puts the force out of balance; balance in the force is light only, not balance between light and dark (in fact, there’s no such thing as the ‘light-side, the light side is just the force). Btw not digging you out - one of the best things about Star Wars is that people have expanded upon Lucas’s work to create more lore, and put forward different philosophical viewpoints, using the force itself to communicate their own views on life. So yes, Canon (meaning Lucas’s work), states clearly that the force wants to remove dark-side users to achieve balance, but there’s a lot more material out there - so much that you can have almost any interpretation you want. However, I would really recommend watching videos of Lucas explaining the force, the dark-side, and what he tried to communicate in his films. Well worth looking at my friend
@KonaFanatiker
@KonaFanatiker Жыл бұрын
@@westington1 Thank you for your explanation. Personally, I think balance is not great wording if the Light Side is suppsoed to be balance. But then again, the movies do not exactly focus on the Jedi (representing the lightside) to be astray and Light vs Dark is an opposite. Balance is easily interpreted as something in between then. So definitly more helpful to check on what Lucas wanted to convey and meant in that case.
@westington1
@westington1 Жыл бұрын
@@KonaFanatiker Yeah it’s all a bit messy really, and I think the way it’s written makes it easy to think the dark-side is a thing in itself, like an aspect of the force. They do explain balance in the films, but the dialogue can be a bit poor at times so it’s sort of easy to miss. The only thing though is that the ‘light-side’ is never mentioned in the Lucas films. The force is light, so there’s no side of it that way. So light side is tapping into the force and listening to its will, using it selflessly and allowing it to flow through you. The dark side isn’t an aspect of the force. Darkside users are just force users tapping into the power of the force for their own self-interest. Using it to gain power, and bending and corrupting the force to their will. Lucas says the dark-side is like a cancer that the force actively wants to remove. I do think it’s good and interesting to understand Lucas’s ideas on his creation, as the films make a bit more sense when you watch them with that understanding in mind. However, it’s grown beyond just one man now, and loads of others put forward their ideas and philosophies, and you cannot say anyone is wrong in doing that imo. That’s the great thing about Star Wars. It is both a simple tale of good vs evil, light vs dark, whilst at the same time being about the very nature of life and raises questions of morality etc. it’s just about life itself, so of course people will have differing views on the force

The will of the force would simply shift things back towards balance. The korriban victory most likely was nothing more than the will of the force reducing Sith potential to avoid a greater unbalance.
@Velisatra
@Velisatra 11 ай бұрын
You say that but the Jedi idea of balance was hundreds of thousands of Jedi and a mere 2 Sith with the goal of 0 and the total obliteration of Sith teachings and knowledge. That's not balance. Ironically Anakin did bring balance to the force by participating in wiping out hundreds of thousands of Jedi. Actual balance. Both sides are horribly flawed unlike the ancient Je'daii that were grey and actually balanced between light and dark before the split into Sith and Jedi.

@@VelisatraHundreds of thousands?? Are those real numbers or an exaggeration? And yeah, I always thought it was curious both orders were intent on obliterating each other. But I guess balance doesn’t come from one Jedi per one Sith, it’s broader than that - on the scale of planets or sectors. Like when the DS vaporized Alderaan and Ben sensed the Force disturbance. Maybe the Jedi were hoping to achieve balance by pushing the Dark Side into the Deep Core or on Nexus planets within the Rim, and keeping the galaxy at large Light.

@@ronjon7942 They're real. Lucas originally envisioned 100,000 Jedi Knights before Order 66 (not counting padawans or masters) then 50-100 survivors. Disney changed that to 10,000 for reasons beyond my comprehension. Either number is far from balance though.

If, after defeating the Sith at the end of Episode VI, the new Republic -- led presumably by Luke Skywalker -- had blown up Korriban, would that have greatly lessened the "power of the Dark Side" (as Vader and Sidious put it), or would the opposite have happened -- i.e. would the result or Korriban's destruction have been the equivalent of what happened in the 1984 film, Ghostbusters, immediately after the "ecto-containment unit" under the firehouse was shut off?
@krispalermo8133

I am a Legends fan, so I would go with " ecto-containment unit " shut down effect. Since ancient Sith lords can ghost possession the living, my money is reincarnation is a thing in Star Wars. Also in legends, a few bases that had Vader's imperial spy network had statues/shrines which held as barely self-aware darkside shade knowing it was a mental recording of Vader. From time to time it visited Leia and her children when they was brooding.

The Sith would have destroyed the Jedi and they would've been a blink in the galaxy? No, the Jedi did fight the Sith at their peak and defeated them. Then again, then again, then again. The Sith are doomed to lose, as despite the grief the Jedi order get for their philosophy being flawed, the Sith takes the cake. Sounds great on paper, but practically fails every time. It has a huge flaw.
