Legend has it, this song was the last one in a tour many years ago, Dave started to wave goodbye to the crowd, the crowd waved back and then it just stuck to the end of this one particular song.

I FINALLY got to see them live last year in San Antonio, and let’s just say I was FAR from disappointed. They are still-hands down-the best live act out there, and one of the best ever. Their shows are so full of energy, both from the band and their loyal “Devotees.” They may be in their early sixties now, but Dave was still all over the stage throughout the show, holding the audience in the palm of his hand the whole time. It was incredible. And yes, there’s LOTS of crowd participation at DM concerts-certain things that everyone automatically does during certain songs. The arm wave here was actually first started during their iconic Rose Bowl performance in 1988: Dave got it going that night, and it just took on a life of its own. I recommend watching that live performance as well, it’s really like watching the exact moment Depeche Mode “became” who they are.

Ich bin seit 1984 Fan der Band. 1990 wurde ein Traum wahr. Die Mauer fiel und beim ersten Konzert in Berlin als Dave dann auf die Bühne kam, hab ich vor Freude geweint. 1993 stand ich in der ersten Reihe bei der Devotional-Tour! Natürlich habe ich jede Tour mindestens einmal gesehen und natürlich kennt der Fan jede Gestik und in den Jahren gibt es unzählige Eigenleben bei den Songs von Depeche Mode. Das größte Problem was DM hat ist, dass sie es niemanden recht machen können, weil ihre Songauswahl bei der Setlist viel zu hoch ist. Luxusproblem. Über 50 Singles und sogar B-Seiten Songs die unglaublich beliebt bei den Fan sind! 2023 im Stadion (Munich) und 2024 in der Halle waren absolut grandiose Konzerte. Unglaublich, wie gut sie immer noch sind. Die Big 8 (Songs die DM auf jeder Tour spielen) sind natürlich gesetzt. Also bleiben DM noch ca. 15 Songs aus 15 Alben, wobei das neuste Album sogar 3-4 Songs einnimmt!!! Ich hätte gerne Home gesehen und auch My Favourite Stranger, aber man kann nicht alles haben. Aber zurück zu NLMDA. Ja! 101 im Rose Bowl hat Depeche Mode zu absoluten Superstars gemacht und ich sehe es auch so, dass dieser ikonische Moment bei NLMDA sie zu dem gemacht hat, was sie sind. Legenden!!! Die Fans sind eine Familie, die stetig wächst. Die MM- Tour war rundum grandios. Wer DM noch nie live erlebt hat, hat wirklich was verpasst. Sie sind besser denn je. Unfassbar, dass ich sie seit 40 Jahren begleiten darf. Ich weiß, sie werden nicht jünger, aber ich hoffe, sie nochmals live zu sehen!

@@attegranattehstswish I could say I’d gotten to see them that many times over the years! One thing making it more complicated is the fact that the closest they ever come to where I live in central Arkansas is Dallas (TX), about a 5-hour drive from here. So there’s that to consider. I ended up going twice as far though, to San Antonio: when they first announced tour dates, it was a very short list and that was the closest- I knew they’d be adding lots more dates at some point, but frankly, I was too afraid something would go wrong to prevent it yet again. They came back through Texas and played Dallas several months later, but that late in the tour. but I’m still glad I went early on, despite the extra distance. I’d REALLY love to see them in Europe, especially Berlin.

Depeche Mode always play this song on there tours it all started on there 101 tour a sight to see is live from The Rose Bowl is Pasadena California when Dave gets the whole stadium of 80,000 fans to do the wave... Another live performance that is awesome is " I Feel You " from the Devotional Tour that song is off DM's Songs Of Faith And Devotion album which when released got alot of respect from the Alternative rock genre DM' kind of change there sound a bit by sounding a bit more rocky. Since they stared as a true synth band
