Think I unconsciously observed that! Husband & I come from different backgrounds, but both from generations of native Texans, and settled here after trying disparate locations as medical workers. Texans are triggered all the time, but there is a culture of keep your mouth shut or “under your hat.” Never speak on others opinions or actions, politics, religion, money, personal business, or anything “impolite.” But they & we grumble to our selves & anyone close to us. And probably comment on KZbin.😉

We don't like people throwing trash on the ground, (Don't Mess With Texas) we don't like rude, dangerous drivers, (Drive Friendly The Texas Way) and we don't like thoughtless people (Do Unto Others, As You Would Have Others Do Unto You.) Although you can wear a felt hat in the summer, it's more widely practiced to use straw. However, sports caps are also used for hot seasons covered with a winter cap over it when it's cold. The cowboy style had offers a great deal of protection from the sun, but isn't very practical in the wind. The US Calvary produced a cowboy styled hat, with chin strap, to make them stay on better and to lay on the wearer's back instead of setting it down or holding it.
