If you can swap the 2021 head to the 2020 block, why not swapping the 2020 pistons to the 2021 block?? What if the 2020 ECU could also be swapped to the 2021??
@ThicWhips3 жыл бұрын
Well, I think for starters all of these parts you are talking about are going to cost a lot right now because these cars are very new. But furthermore, the amount of work any of that would take I don’t think is really worth it. When you can just buy the one that has zero issues from the Jump and is tunable. Not to mention, the 2021s wound have voided warranties left and right if you began pulling engines apart. I don’t think the head swap is worth it in general but who knows
@jmccarsnmore10253 жыл бұрын
@@ThicWhips For sure bro. But since you mentioned the head swapping, I went I little bit farther with the part swapping 😂 In all honestly, getting new pistons and rings will probably be cheaper than getting a whole engine head, imo. I have the 2021 A91 Refraction Blue Edition. 23,000 miles on it. No oil consumption issues. Eventuri intake and Engine cover, FTP Charge Pipe, CG Downpipe and plenty of carbon fiber inside and out. Only thing left until tune is the catback. That will be soon. Spoke with someone inside Titan Motorsports and it would appear that they are getting very very close to cracking the 2021 ECU and told me to expect a big announcement soon. My ECU build date is 6/1/2020. I provided my CAL ID and from what I have been told by Speed Industry it can not be unlocked yet. Thanks for the ECU cf cover info.....been looking for that. One issue that I have identified is the abnormal inside wear of my front tires.....I know ....I know...and yes I have already taken it in to the best wheel and tire place in Columbus, Ohio. Great people do a great job and really know their stuff. After evaluation the wheels tires and alignment. They found no issues except marked inside wear of those front. They said no way to make any adjustments at this time until Toyota comes up with a solution. Took this to Toyota and of course they just threw up their hands......no surprise there. Really love this car but don't really want to replace tires so frequently because of this. So here's my take on this.....Yes the 2021 will get unlocked and be turnable...probably sooner than many think and yes the tuned 2021 will ultimately make more power than the 2020.....I am guessing at least 50 more whp......so can you wait? Well I can. I am a physician who watched all of his friends buy homes, cars, travel etc. while I was starving and up to $100,000 in debt....back then we called it deferred gratification.....it worked fine for me then considering where I am at these days and will work just as well with the 2021 Supra. I really do appreciate your balanced approach to things and look forward to sharing with you. Anyone else with the tire wear issues?

Same question goes for other things you briefly mentioned, like the 2021 has different compression and pistons? Just like that one girl that got the low oil light warning and proceeded to drive it because she said she had to get to the gym. Guess what? She blew her engine up, blames it on toyota, deletes the video where she said and showed herself driving it low on oil, and complained how long it took for Toyota to put a new engine in it. Then her simps (because she’s apparently famous due to OnlySimps) started trashing both Toyota and BMW... mostly BMW. Then some people reminded her how it blew up in the first place and that it was a sign that she wasn’t meant to have a car if she can’t take care of it. It is what it is. For me it’s between a used A90 Supra or a used G20 M340i in that nice blue color as my next car once I’m done with college. Those extra seats and doors may come in handy later on. Both are amazing cars, but I’m gonna want to have just one car for a good 2 years before I get another one. The G20 M340i seems like the more practical one, that’s what’s appealing a bit more to me 😅

No dip stick… that’s true. No BMW engine has a dipstick anymore.
@senseofstile3 жыл бұрын
@@anthonyschluter8531 That is a bad decision on their part. If something occurs with the engine, the first thing you do is look at the oil or also smell the oil. Also you can see if there is a possibility it could be overfilled. The really bad scenario is a shop might say they changed the oil but, didn't. You can't check the dipstick to verify. Or perhaps they made an honest mistake and "thought" they changed the oil. Again this creates a big problem. Without a dipstick, none of that troubleshooting can occur. Some people claim BMW are just disposable limited use autos. I guess without a dipstick, they are probably correct. Just lease one for a year. You shouldn't need a dipstick for that.

Toyota reversed engineered that B58 engine for all 2020 models. They bumped the engines HP for the 2021 model and Toyota didn’t do a tear down for this years models 🥲. In my opinion the 2020 models are the most reliable BMW engine on the market
@supranova7303 жыл бұрын
And maybe that is why they locked the 2021 ECU. But that doesn't explain why all of the 2021 ECUs were not locked.
@Tdking8303 жыл бұрын
@@supranova730 I honestly won’t be surprised if they did it for safety reasons maybe. That car has a lot of potential once flashed and tuned properly it’s crazy.

I could be completely wrong but I have a feeling that it is related to pressure from the epa. Trying to force emission standards and prevent tunes.
@supranova7303 жыл бұрын
That is the million dollar question. Why are some ECUs locked and some are not. There were even some 2020s with locked ECUs but they could be cracked. If the late 2020 models and all of the 2021 models had a locked ECU it would make sense. But randomly locking late 2020 models and late 2021 model ECUs make no sense.

If Toyota expected these cars to be modified, why would they lock the ECU down so much?
@justinwallace38483 жыл бұрын
It wasn’t Toyota rather BMW, most of the 2021 BMW’s have been impossible to crack, many people have used JB4 as that isn’t a DME flash
@supranova7303 жыл бұрын
Toyota tuned the Supra so they have access to the ECU. It is them locking it. I also wondered why some 2021 were locked. I heard some 2020 were locked but they could be cracked. Now, apparently, Toyota locked the 2021 with stronger encryption. I hypothesized that maybe Toyota got some test data back from some test mules early in the production of the 2021 and that made them think maybe the 2021 might have some reliability issues so it is best to lock the ECU. It is very interesting to why this actually happened.

whatever you say , whether "high performance" or "german engines" ,filling up oil every 1000 miles is not normal at all. Saying that means all german engines(specifically bmw's) or high performance cars drains oil in same level as the supra. Thinking of Track only BMW S1000RR even does not drain oil that fast, I can easily say that 1000 miles oil drain is not normal. Does anyone actually know why it drains oil that fast? Is it because wrong grade of oil? I'd assume 5w30 or 5w40 can be suitable for 3L turbo engine. Or is it because something to do within the enigne? something to do with oil filter? Is there an issue with the coolant system? I'd love to know the reason why it drains oil as I am looking to get Supra.
@dirklenaerts16283 жыл бұрын
Hello, now I am confused. You are talking about the date on the ecu to see if it’s tunable. Here in Europe we only get the 340hp version. Even now in 2021 and the next years. The 380 hp version will not come to Europe. So if I buy a 2021 340hp, is it possible it can’t be tuned? Or is it just the 380hp’s ecu that is blocked ?

What happened after your brake recall? Did the dealer reset your ECU and did you lose your tune? I love the car and I haven’t even moded it yet. Yes some of those forum discussions get freakin crazy. I just have to laugh at the ridiculousness to keep myself sane!
