I’m an architect, and I’ve been using the iPad Pro with Apple Pencil since the very first model was released. The apps I would recommend you try are: - Notability (for marking PDFs. Very simple and syncs with your iPhone and Mac) - Paper (simple sketchbook-like sketching app. Can sync with iPhone and allows for very quick, iterative sketching) - Concepts (very, very powerful vector drawing app. Has scale tools and an infinite canvas)
@30by404 жыл бұрын
Thanks...haven’t tried Notability yet will have to give that a spin. Curious if you export the vector line work from Concepts to use elsewhere?
@sayedhusainalmousawi36324 жыл бұрын
@@30by40 I haven't done that, but the way I use the app makes it almost impossible to export and use the lines for CAD work. But that also depends on the tool you're using and the approach you take. For instance, there is a line tool that I really never use. It creates perfect, CAD-like lines. But I use other tools (like pencils, pens, highlighters, and watercolor), and my approach is using the app as a replacement for a drafting table. Meaning that I mainly draw plans/sections to scale, and sketch some ideas on the side. To me, this works really well. You can also insert measurements on the drawing, and show/hide them as well. And since I draw numerous lines on top of each other, and draw some less-perfect lines, this makes it very messy if it gets exported to CAD. The app is really extensive and can accommodate multiple ways of work. I would recommend you try it using different approaches (sketches, measured drawings, drafting with the line tool) and see what works. It has great tools you won't find anywhere else. Examples are: - There are masking tools (like an eraser, but it does not erase the lines beneath them, it just hides them so you can always delete the mask) - There is a true eraser that literally cuts the line, so that if you have one line you can cut it into two and each one is a separate object (the app treats each continuous part as an object that you can manipulate. It's interesting) - A nudge tools allows you to manipulate lines by nudging them. Very nice for perfecting curved lines And much, much more. I can explain it all day but you've really got to test it. It's very deep. Cheers, Husain

For those who aren't apple based (small crowd, I know) Microsoft's Surface works really well also. I was back and forth between an iPad pro and the surface. For not much more I went with the surface. The main reason being is is that, unlike the iPad, I can run full programs on it and not just an app version. This was great for me at the time since I was also in the market for a computer. So I have a fully functional laptop (that handles SketchUp, cad, and Revit well) and a tablet.
@landshaperstudio4 жыл бұрын
I will say the main drawback to it though is that since you are running full versions of the programs, boot ups take a little longer for heavier ones like PS which I use to draw concept plans.
@Lilix-nm1xh4 жыл бұрын
But the pen of the surface wasn’t as great as the apple one. Beside from that it run well for those app for architect. Still for those who want to expand their knowledge with digital i would recommend IPad but for only architect and being able to do thing without dragging your laptop with you then surface to me.
@landshaperstudio4 жыл бұрын
@@Lilix-nm1xh I could agree. The pencil of the iPad definitely feels much better, and without looking it up, I was to say had a higher dpi response (maybe). But the great part about the surface was it doesn't have to feel like dragging your laptop around. Often I don't even have the key board attached. And it's been handy on the occasion where i needed access to heavier capabilities while in the field. The fluidity of the Apple OS is hard to get past though :) I think UI is something apple will rule in for quite some time.

Instead of acrobat I use Bluebeam ReVu. I like the most the option to Calibrate the scale of a PDF to take measurements, counts and keep it on the PC. I also like the mark ups options are very customizable. I use very often for for as built in remodeling projects. Also if you have it with the data option, you can take your laptop to the field, update your cloud and keep working with both.

Great presentation, I'm architect. Just curios how is the quality of a rendering or an image when you present to the client with a "matte scree protector". I was wondering if there other screen protectors out there that deliver the same sketchy texture but does not loose the clarity?

Perfect video effects. Not only the content, but also the lighting, the perspective of lens and the mood created 😊

Professional interior designer here! I really am considering getting one of these for field verification and sketching over photos taken on site. I don't need it to run Revit, but I am drooling over the sketching possibilities. 😳

This is fantastic! I'm trying to research ipad tools for architects and designers, and I haven't found many helpful resources online. This video is clear, organized, and informative. Just what I needed!

Your videos are very professional and well done! Best I found on the web so far. Thanks for your work and your help to the designers community! For iPad Pro, I like also SketchBook by Autodesk. I bought Procreate to give it a shot, but it seems pretty much the same, and it's free! :)

I'm a professional designer with many large scale projects under my belt - from elevation views of exhibits to minute 3-D modeled parts. The i-pad is a GREAT and must have tool. But it is only part of an inventory of tools! I love hand sketching and that's what attracted me to my current line of work. Learning digital drawing tech is a MUST - as a designer you have to learn and know it. Put it in your priorities as you need it but having a working understanding and aptitude is required of you in today's market. I think this is what is being communicated in this vid.
