Starters and alternators are not maintenance items but rather repair items. I don't consider it a junk product either. I own a 2012 Honda Accord Coupe with a V6 and the timing belt service is the only thing I've really spent money on bc the car never ever has had a problem, uses no oil and leaks nothing. As an author in Alabama, I mail 85% of my books to 1,249 retailers, but also drive my new 2022 MDX ACURA and it is just like Scotty says, a terrific vehicle in every way. I can set my adaptive cruise and it drives through heavy rain when the Gulf Stream weather lets mother nature do its thing. You can get 25 cases with just the third row down and still room for four adults. As far as buying those E.V's NO way, as you can not take those long trips for autograph signing on the beaches of Gulf Shores, or long trips to say Huntsville, etc., as most states still do not have enough of level 2 charging stations and who wants to sit for many hours charging or even get a hotel room while you charge. I do like the new E.V. Acura MDX coming and maybe in five years we can buy one and not have driver anxiety from worry about running out of battery power. This is a winner in every way and my wife and I love the tech too. You will not be sorry if you trade up to the Acura MDX, and unlike those German brands you will not be sitting for repairs, etc., at the dealership! Scotty can tell you about those German brands too. Honda engines and transmissions last for ever and believe me, I can not find any Acura owner that says anything bad about their vehicle!

In regards to the poor fuel mileage. I just recently took a family trip in a fully packed 2022 Acura MDX Advanced. My wife, our four kids and I had the car filled to the roof with luggage. We traveled from San Mateo to Glendale about 364 miles from house to hotel. I put it in ECO mode on Highway 5 and had plenty of range left to make it more than 50 miles past Glendale per the Acura range computer. That’s easily over 400 miles range freeway driving on a full tank running supreme fuel. I did the same trip in my 2016 Honda Pilot EX-L. Easily over 400 miles range too.

I know the 90s/ early 2000 Camrys made in the USA said origin of Transmission: Japan; origin of Engine: USA. When the cars got to be about 17 years old the engine oil seals started to leak but the transmissions did not. That was my experience. Local mileage about 16-17. 10-speed compensates for the size and gives it good acceleration. At the same time, it starts decelerating as soon as you take foot off the pedal, (starts down shifting). Takes a little getting used to. The Walk-away back closing is kinda cool when taking stuff out from the back. Cargo space only second to Pilot. Cargo board flippable, also can be raised to level the floor (and not just deep as in the video). Brake hold feature is excellent for stop and go traffic. Allows to take foot off accelerator when you come to a complete stop. HUD accommodates when using directions. Unlike in other cars, Accident avoidance does not slow down the car (except when it is in dynamic cruise control) with flash and beep. I like that as I know it will not suddenly decelerate on its own because of some shadows. no Made in Japan. MDX only made in Ohio.

90% of Engine wear occurs on COLD startup not warm startup. However I still agree it's not worth it to use Auto stop/start. It does cause additional stress, and obviously a lot more wear on the starter.
@gankhiskhan5140
@gankhiskhan5140 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah the warm startup is fine. The auto stop idle only turns on when the engine is warm. In the winter.. my RDX on my commute doesn't have any moment of autostop But.. these starters in these cars are not what they used to be. Let's talk about the actual starter itself. Average is what 80,000 starts? Assuming 365 driving days a 10 starts a day? 3650 starts a year? 22 years to hit 80,000. Even if we doubled it to 7300 a year. 11 years? To replace a starter? A few hundred dollars? Not really that bad.

I owned a 2012 MDX and started doing DIY maintenance in 2017 due to the high costs at the dealer. Since then, I've been handling all types of oil/fluid changes, brake system replacements, and more. The amazing thing is that I took it for alignment last year, and for a 10-year-old vehicle, the alignment reading was 0/0/0. It was my first time getting an alignment (shame on me), but I was pleasantly surprised by how well it performed. Overall, this car has never given me any major issues, and almost all bulbs are still original. Compared to other cars I've owned, this one is the best.

My previous Highlander had a built in thigh extender but I guess they decided to leave it off to save a few $$. Killed the deal for me. I watched this video for about the millionth time today and I must say the new MDX is awesome. We own a 2023 Advance and absolutely love it. We did not want the Type-S as the low-profile tires go flat easily especially on the bad roads in our area and we don't care for seat massaging also the normal MDX is more reliable (reliability is what drove us to choose the MDX over a GLE or GLS as those were the other SUVs we rly liked). MDX is super comfortable while being reliable, sporty, luxurious, having good space, and very refined. That's why I love it. Super awesome car for long road trips and it's equally great at being a car we can transport extended family in (with the 3rd row) when the need be. It's not a X5M or a Cayenne from a performance standpoint but still handles very well for what it is but it handles really nicely especially for the size and it has good power especially for what it is. Gas mileage isn't great though but I would much rather have Acura's stellar reliability any day of the week.

I had a 2004 Honda Accord V6 Coupe 6 speed with Navi that actually was declared salvage by my insurance due to a hurricane but a month later after getting bluebook value for it they offered to sell it back to me for like half the price. I should have bought it back. It had like only 140k miles on it which is nothing for those and it was in really good shape for the time I had it. I thought it was pretty luxury with leather seats, navi, auto climate control, heated seats, keyless, and voice control for back in '04. Fast forward to when I bought a 2012 Acura TL with Tech Package. Thing started falling apart quicker. The center console retractor broke up, upholstery not holding up as well, headliner started to sag, makes a weird whirring noise after it hit 100k miles, the navi, audio, and other controls aren't as intuitive, fog light went out (never did on my Accord), the proximity key sometimes doesn't work when trying to push start. Quality was not up to snub but also a lot more things that could break/go wrong. Still a great engine though and love that Vtec on both. Felt that the Honda 3.0 provided the right balance of economy and power vs. 3.5 on Acura. I used to be able to get 28 mpg mixed on the Honda....Acura I'm lucky if I get 22 mpg mixed.

Hey Scotty, I enjoy your channel very much,, I absolutely love the fact that Honda still uses a timing belt on their V6, I sell used cars and I constantly have to deal with crankshaft camshaft correlation codes but you never get this with a Honda V6, it's about $1000 to replace the timing belt every 5 years which averages about $16 a month, well worth the small added cost to have worry free driving.

I have the 23 Mdx type s and I get 23-25 mpg. You have to know how to drive and let it cruise and sip gas. Mines has a turbo that helps.

Beautiful car. I wish Acura products were sold here in the UK. I would take one any day over an equivalent Euro junk product.

Not even close to Lexus … cabin and road noise alone puts the Lexus at the top even better than German cars . Lexus RX sales is double Acura and in 2022 Lexus IS at 80K RX sales and Acura MDX at 28K. The resale value of Lexus beyond any doubt the best care resale value globally. I had MDX 2009 , 2013 and currently 2016. The only reason I got MDX because of third row … now family getting smaller as kids go to college my next one is a Lexus peace of mind …
