Great video and lots to unpack. Will think for a few days, but my main thought is the “bigger” something gets, the more the rot sets in. I’ve seen it in so many of my hobbies, and I tend to just sidle towards the exit door. Facebook, where it is so easy to tap out a few minutes of thoughtless invective before swiping onto the next thing, is big and would only amplify that. I will leave with a quote from the remarkable Lady Catherine de Bourgh speaking on music … “if I had ever learnt, I should have been a great proficient.”

That quote is great. I think you're right about the rot seeing in as things get bigger - maybe that is why I am attracted to niche hobbies.
