@acutecloudd7970 Exactly. Everywhere has a sort of unspoken "thin blue line"/"no snitching"-type culture to some degree. Because you work together, you're more likely to stick together. Unless it's something seriously egregious (or your coworker(s) is just an asshole), they'll likely turn a blind eye to whatever it is you're technically not supposed to be doing, likely because they don't care enough to throw you under the bus and doing so isn't worth the immediate hassle and subsequent awkwardness.

Body cams don't run during a full shift usually, because you'd need an absurd amount of video storage to store constant video. Some have features where they passive record and discard the footage, and then, once activated, they are able to save a little bit before they are activated (usually like 30 seconds to a couple minutes) But otherwise, yeah I totally agree, once a cop activates their body cam, there should be regulations where the camera is not allowed to stop recording until the officer has completely finished the interaction.

@atomixfang I think it can be reformed but it will be a massive undertaking. Mostly an undertaking with cultural shifts. Both political sides (as a generality) are on such polar opposites that it prevents any progress from being made. Some groups want the entire structure abolished, some groups excuse the behavior by covering their eyes or pointing to the obvious false corruption cases. Only a few actually discuss real solutions while fully acknowledging the problems. As it goes in massive societies with a laundry list of problems. None of them get solved realistically.
