I've got a Valve Index, and many other people have these more expensive VR things, but we're not allowed to even try the Metaverse. The answer is all users are not created equal. Their specific products are just the future delivery system for their platform, and their lower price point is indicative of their willingness to eat a loss to proliferate and dominate the space. It is like economics of the modern console where they are losing money on the consoloe for most of the lifecycle knowing that they have the users trapped and will make it back. Facebook is dying, and Zuck can't drain it dry and run off to the next thing, so he might as well let it burn in the attempt. .

I'm convinced fb just publishes this research about video watch time so that they can count someone watching a vid for longer than 1.7 seconds now as a view and inflate their numbers. The number's also worse because they're just looking at viewership on the fb News Feed, which is designed terribly for a viewing experience anyway. Makes no sense that they'd do this survey on that platform instead of IG, where people expect to watch videos more often

I'll tell you why there's that 1 second attention span thing - Facebook and, especially, Instagram have added a lot of shit you don't want to see on your feed. I literally scroll down as fast as I can, only stopping to watch and interact with people I actually follow. Previously I'd scroll through my feed, then keep scrolling if I actually feel like interacting with more content - now that it is forced upon me I am that much more likely to not pay any attention at all, just scrolling through to find the content I actually want.

the fact that it is purely a statistic with no real context kinda shows that it shows nothing. like ok the average time before people click away is shorter so what? does that mean they have less attention? does that mean they more often click on things they didnt mean to? does that mean that the current video making trends make people click of faster? it's framed like our attention span is destroyed, which it doesnt necessarily mean. i can imagine that the trends to put a "big exciting hook" at the start of a video might just be putting a big turnoff at the start of the video so people dont want to watch the shitty loud flashy hooks

When someone tells you that raising the minimum wage would be detrimental to our economy know that they are actively spreading misinformation. Almost all of inflation is fabricated for the financial gain of a small minority of the population. Those same people increase the costs of items while being unwilling to raise the amount they pay their workers. Even though they've been able to continually cut labor costs and break record profits they're unwilling to lose even the smallest cut in their profit margin. When they control the necessary items we require to live how do you think they'll act? It's a sci-fi parody... but if we were on a spaceship they'd charge us for air.

I'm not expert but rent price lowering won't take inflation numbers down. The part of rent calculated into CPI(inflation) is done with a really long term moving avarege (Cpi Owners equivalent rent). Therefore it doesn't go up as fast as it should and it won't go down while real price is going down, thus, not letting its part in the calculation go down. Inflation is probably going down because it's compared year by year. November and December 2021 had around 7%, so next inflation data will be compared to the already 7% up. If I'm wrong feel free to correct me.
