I'd delete my divisions in Italy. The troops holding both the alps and the maginot, id make them solid infantry 20 withs with shovels. With all the extra man power and equpiment id make 24, 14/4's which should be able to push the germans in the pocket.

I think my strategy would have been to pull out all my troops in Italy to hold against the Germans, leaving just enough troops to hold the line in the Alps; then I would pray for a miracle. Update: It didn't work, if only the French Commune hadn't risen up.

Probably better to try and concentrate your Air Force in Italy and take Italy out ASAP. You’d undoubtedly lose a lot of territory doing that, however.

my ideal strategy is similar to yours but id pull out of italy exept for a few divisions on last stand in the ports. then take all the italian troops (the offensive army) and concentrate them on the plains between Orleans and Vichy at around 16 min in the video. then slam all those troops up into champagne and cut of the germans around paris and link up with the british. meanwhile wherever the germans attack that isint on my offensive army I withdraw. Then once my offensive goals have been acquired ill move towards the swiss border with my offensive army and any mobile divisions I can scrounge up from around the war.

This is a perfect video. 12:20 The AI prioritises weak allies first, and allies who have more manpower in the field than their AI nation does are immediately dropped to the bottom of the priority list ignoring all other considerations. If you have the most manpower in the field (or maybe just the army, not sure) out of your whole faction, then allies will only come to help your borders if they have literally nothing else to do (this includes excessive garrisoning of all their core territory, btw).

At the Maginot line you only need one army to hold against almost 120 Divisions so I would free up the maginot line try to encircle the north and then push to Italy and Austria then concentrate all the forces to push in the north and hold in the alps

What I would have done is to dismantle the maginot at the start of the game and hold a smaller frontline. Since you have air superiority I would then focus on only producing CAS. My reasoning is that if you have green air when you have BiPlanes that means the enemy isnt putting up any fighters. With CAS and more troops (would have made the reinforcements 7 2's and put them on the front after they got equipped), I would probably stall them enough to get some entrenchment in a few tiles. Once the front is stable, I start working on Either Light or Medium tanks (depends on what the economy can afford). After that just try and get some encirclements to retake the nation and then take it step by step from there.

I was playing as Germany in Ironman; I took Poland, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, and the Czechs by myself which cost me a lot in man power. Declared war on Norway and then they join the Soviets along with twelve or more Asian warlords who were communist & Republican Spain. I withdrew from Norway (abandoning that campaign). With only Three armies, one defending occupied France and the other two pushing into Russia (I some how had the early advantage.). Made short progress into Russia before the full Soviet army showed up and the Asian warlords. I somehow inflicted 6 million casualties on the Soviets with just 48 divisions and my manpower draining (down to about 30k). I just built forts where the front line was and held onto it. Eventually my manpower and industry started to beef up again and now I have over 200 divisions, 200k in the airforce, and 150k in the Navy. Great Britain came in clutch by taking over Republican Spain and it freed up another army. Seven different armies on the Eastern front and 12 divisions defending from naval invasions. I managed after two years to capitulate the Soviets and am now well on my way to taking over all of Asia. Currently in the year of 1945.

I would’ve gone on a grand campaign in Italy, opening a front against the more weakly defended Austro Hungarian territory. This would, ideally set up a good position to fight a war of attrition against the Germans, eventually building up the logistics to push on the Austro-German border as a feint, distracting from the actual goal of reclaiming France, and riding into the German industrial heartland. Notes: Expand war support to give bonuses for reclaiming French territory. Create a 20 width “militia” unit with an engineer company for the main force (slowly replace the old templates with this new one). Refocus industrial efforts to be able to support a motorized, and armoured army for leading the eventual grand campaign. Also, one of the main reasons I’d attack the Italians, and Austrians would be to deprive the core territory bonuses from the Germans while I am weaker.

I would've kept the 20 width infantry template atleast until the front is more stable since 7/2s have worse defense and org and probably abandon Italy apart from the alps, not sure if I could still hold but worth a try. Btw when you changed to 7/2s you basically lost all your troop skill level so they had like -20% combat ability, anyway still a good video.
