There are dozens of medical assistance groups in Star Citizen among other orgs dedicated to servicing players in the verse. As a game in alpha, it’s not a particularly easy thing to commit to, but these orgs are making it work. Join me in this interview of the CEO and COO of MEDRUNNER as we discuss their journey in creating their medical organization and associated content, how they want to differentiate themself, and what could be the future for groups like these.

Medrunner are the reason why I look into the future with a positive outlook. I never used Med-beacons, mainly because all responders so far were pirates or gankers. ... With Medrunner Services I actually feel somewhat safe in the verse when I get incap.

Yea, I didn't use my med-beacons as well, because the only time I need it is like if I'm in a cave or in a bunker or a bunker-similar situation like 890j, I don't want my rescuer came in and get taken out as well, but with an org like this, I don't have to worry about that.

You guys are great, I was very surprised having a 5-6 man team arrive and pull me out the bunker, Exfil in an Ursa and brought in a Medical Pisces to my station. 👍 10/10 love the services

Every time Fuel Rats or Medrunner is brought up you shouldn't forget Signal Cartel from Eve Online. Performing similar Fuel Rat style rescues for pilots lost in wormhole space.

MedRunner very definitely re-energized my enthusiasm for Star Citizen (old-timey backer here). I went from having waning interest throughout the 3.17.x cycle to wanting to play daily. Being in MedRunner checks off lots of boxes for me: helping others, being part of a team, etc. I was very surprised to discover that most team members are less than a month old in-game. But in my experience, folks are respectful, friendly, and willing to teach/learn.

I hope they add jump seats to the Apollo Medivac, instead of the "reception" space of the clinic. Like... makes no sense to being able to have 6 patients but no way to sit unless you're in a medical bed.

@@yummyzerg it hasn't been made yet I doubt it would not have 3 or 4 jump seats. If not, then they're designing the game around a clinic parking in order to heal for balance reasons. That would be silly to me, and throws medivac out the window. We'll see how it turns out.

@@vorpalrobot I mean, even if they are healed up, they still need a place to seat. If I have to QT somewhere to rescue someone, once they're rescued and healed I still need to bring them to safe space.

@@pxkqd true. I'm not really defending CIGs design. It seems like they're modeling it after an ambulance but the ambulance almost fully heals you... At the moment there's no reason to stabilize somebody and transport them. If you were injured in a car accident you would probably need an ambulance to get to the hospital, but once somebody lays down in a medical bed they can take literally any ship and any amount of time to get there. The medical system needs another layer of urgency I think. I also think the Apollo needs more jump seats but CIG are really trying to balance the game around that. I bet they add some though, their ship concepts and reworks have definitely improved over the years (MSR aside)

Glad to see theses guys on the podcast. The Fuel Rats always struck me as one of the best things about ED and it's community, (I certainly used them myself once and saved an exploration trip going to crap). I hope Medrunner get the same level of fame /respect in the SC community.... They seem to be off to a good start.

This is a great conversation that simultaneously encourages and discourages me when it comes to my Med Org. I'm a nothing, nobody Org and I was inspired to create something similar to MedRunner, but now I feel like I'll always be in their shadow. More power to Medrunner by all means but I can't get 1 org mate while these dudes have 1000+ members. Again they deserve what they are creating. The amount of work that goes in behind the scene and out of game is crazy.

I always dreamed about that sort of pararescue/parajumper (Yeah I'more interested in USAF things than the Cyberpunk ones) sort of gameplay since the first Cutlass came out. Unfortunatly since then I had less time/comitment in the game to take part in such an org (+ plus a poor spoken english I admit :p ). But nice to see that someone did it though, continue having fun with that gameplay :D

Does Medrunner have need of support, such as MR personal transport, supply caches, component transfers? ORG question: What percentage of your org has a medical background? The Med Pisces should have equipment standard like basket on a cable. Maybe when they get ropes, repelling.

Hopefully they share some info with the other Medical Orgs, for example, positive rescues and whether or not it's a trap, and list the players against the ones not playing nice. Of course once reputation there will be much less of a need to share the info.

The Vanguard Hoplite might be a good ship for Medrunner Services. 6 jump seats. Also, I'm fairly certain that you will be able to wear light armor in pilot seats and turrets, but not heavy armor. Medium is questionable but I'm leaning towards not.

Medrunners is much like the org I was trying to put together. M.O.R.G. Rescue is graveyard shift in North America. We'll be doing towing services and repair when those loops come online as well.

Its what finally convinced me to buy the game tbh. I had no idea the medical gameplay was even a thing and as an actual paramedic im interested in it as a mix of how ridiculous (and thus fun) it is to have serious player based EMS in a videogame as well as how close to real life services it adheres.

I highly recommend looking into EVE SCOUT/Signal Cartel for a great representation of a long term player service community that's been around for a long time doing S&R and wormhole mapping in EVE Online

Wow Amazing, i randomly watch a video about them and its amazing :D i also want to do a Medic gameplay but i dont find many needing for me, i start out with a Cutless red and try to get into the medic stuff (iam a male nurse in rl and iam really interested in this gameplay style)

Could this be done easy with an in-game quest system. It could be used for hauling, rescue bounty hunting. It would be great for new ppl to join a group to learn the game as well. Then put a timer if no real person is well to help. Has a AI team so up.

I would be happy to be part of this org as a part time Pilot, medic, and help fund it as I do mining, salvage, current NPC bounty, So may be I could send part of my income to help MedRunner, as I feel this help is important, but I wouldnt want to be just doing this also though if playing I can drop what im doing to help out if you need it

Medrunner has no mandatory commitment, if you just wanna log on and mine or bounty hut on your own time it’s no issue! You can even be in other orgs so long as they aren’t medical-focused. It’s a very schedule-friendly group; I say this as someone who is generally pretty packed and can’t dedicate a lot of time to SC

I have my own medical org and we do this exact same thing show up in rovers and exfil serious injuries to the pisces then back to the carrack for treatment.

Have you encountered MedRunner in the field yet? I've heard they are ruthless and violently enforce exclusive access to medical contracts on a server, even to the point of killing others attempting to provide medical services in response to medical beacons. I've not personally encountered this myself, but I've heard from others I know that have.

Tbh, I've had negative interactions with them in-game...they're really pushy on people using their website to get rescues, and if you refuse to use it then they won't help you even if they're on the server and they aren't even occupied with things. They started trash talking me when I said that I don't have dual monitors to be able to easily pull up a website, and even if I did...running a different process on my PC when playing SC is so slow, even trying to do a Google search when having SC running takes forever like the dial up internet days...I know it's like this for a lot of people too, so it's really a shame for Medrunners to tarnish their reputation by being so aggressive

They're not required to help you... If they want to use the website as their source for requests that's their prerogative. Do you not have a smartphone? You know you can use your phone to access their website, right? Just from reading your post I can see why they were frustrated with you. Everything you wrote is a "you" problem, not their problem. They're offering a service for free, they're not required to work around your needs. Get a better computer, or alt-tab to go to the website, or go to the website through your phone.

@@johnkim5718 #1. I simply had put a rescue beacon out, I wasn't asking for anyone's help in particular...just server-wide. I didn't even announce I needed help, I purely only put out a beacon. #2. After the beacon was up, the person spamming Medrunner promotions said he saw my beacon and that I needed to go on the website to ask for help. I said I never asked for Medrunner help, but if he was free to help me I would pay credits. He said no and demanded again for me to go on the website. He literally kept forcing on me unsolicited instructions, and spent so much time doing this over five minutes when he literally could have gotten me by the time his rant was over. #3. My phone is slow for web browsing, it's a phone I've had for 6 years now...and yes, it's not anyone else's fault for that, but I never begged for Medrunners to help me in the first place and it was simply super rude and aggressive for that guy to have demanded me to use the website and refuse to help when I literally had only sent a beacon. Don't be a douche

There’s only a few orgs who will rescue you regardless of your CS, org status or affiliation, and will be less political about their methods of rescue. Medrunners is not one of them

I died after killing a guard by mistake in a bunker and they answered that "They don't help pirate scum like me" and cancelled my ticket.. the fuel rats would have never done this. I recommend you go with another medical org guys.
