My motivation in paying more is quality, not a brand name. So I only buy luxury brand if I believe the quality warrants it. With that comes the expectation that I will need to invest more in the maintenance of that product so that it will last and look its best, and also the expectation that it will last for a long time with that care. Quality over all has gone down for products and is increasingly replaced by hype. That being said, I will pay for the experience of a quality perfume, makeup, or meal...I guess you are right Dacob 😅

I agree. 100 💯. My friend drives a nice car $150,000 car and she thinks the car won’t get scratches and stains on it. She didn’t think it will get dents on it. When she so call found out it does, it costed her a fortune to fix and she would have to park a million miles from the store, so people won’t touch her car, 😂. She has done this several times when we hung out and I think now she only drives her car to work. Onto luxury handbags, I use all my bags. I’m like if I don’t use it, why am I gonna buy it? I don’t like stuff sitting in my closet. I own a Louis Vuitton Alma and that has been my everyday bag for the past 5 years or so. It has gotten handle color changes and plus some more. I don’t care. I still love it and I’ve put that money I spent to good use. In my honest opinion, if you are gonna let the luxury item just look good in your closet…don’t buy it… you should be putting that luxury item to use. I get compliments all the time using my Alma bag. They even say it looks so vintage because I use it so heavily. Thank you so much for sharing this video! It’s gonna be such an eye opener to so many people. ❤️

I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said. People seem to believe that expensive should = indestructible, and it makes me scratch my head. Especially when I see posts or videos of people saying "I've had my bag for 6 months and it's showing wear/scratches/etc." when you dig a little deeper you find out that the person uses the bag every day, throws it on the floor, packs it to the gills, and you think: "girl, what did you think was going to happen?" If you use your things then they are going to show it, even LV canvas. I also agree that sometimes this belief that bags should remain "pristine" is because the person doesn't have a real disposable income and so they justify a price they really can't afford (sorry if it sounds snobby or classist) by saying "I'll have it forever".

I couldnt agree more. I no longer keep any luxury items that i do not use. If an item doesnt make me happy when i wear it and all i do is worry about not damaging it, it has to go! People over items every single time. Life is too short to worry so much about things!

In an ideal luxury world, quality control should actually be in the workshop when the item is being made. The artisan/workshop manager normally controls during the making and before it leaves for quality control dept.

Spot on. Also, it just sounds dumb to me, if I’m being brutally honest, when someone doesn’t expect normal wear and tear. Leather comes in a wide range of qualities, to be sure. Yet, all leather ages and scratches or dents with use. That’s a fact. KZbinrs often don’t differentiate from a quality issue like poor stitching from a wear issue like hardware scratches.

Gold is a soft metal to start with and the higher caratage -18K and up is softer than the lower grades ( like 10K or 14K). 18K scratches more easily and is a normal thing. Any local jeweler can buff those scratches away in 5 minuets. Scratches are not defects. Now, if the bracelets are falling apart , like some Cartier bangles do, of if stones are coming off - then it's a quality issues.

I think luxury orginiated in small artisan workshops of the designers original fashion house and they had may 5 boutiques! Now you have hundreds of locations and more and more factories, I baby everything so my pieces last again it depends on the material Tweed/Silk bag vs Canvas leather trim is to different things. It’s shocks me how people beat up things for example like pool slides I don’t use those like some cheap adidas slide.

Hi Dacob!! To me, Quality Control is how you yourself treat your handbags. I see people running into walls with their designer handbags when they have had too much to drink!! It's all about what "we" do, not what they have done to create such a perfectl piece of art!!

Its a lot about how we treat these items but its also about which raw materials they use to make them and if they cheap out on raw materials as well as if they up production by forcing one worker to make the amount of work that usually two workers would do… and the points can go on and on… I just listed two… 💖💖💖

Brilliant video ❤️ I got a black + white mini flap bag from the previous Metiers d’ Art collection, witch I absolutely adore, it has an abstract design inspired by the marble paving of the Chenonceau castle, and it’s manufactured by Atelier Verneuil. Although I’m extremely careful, after just a month of crossbody use, there was color transfer from a black trench coat to a white edge. I didn’t mind so much that, but what I do mind is that, even though I swiped the mark VERY GENTLY with the MICROFIBER CLOTH, the leather there was ruined as if it was made from thin paper...!!! I still love it VERY much, but I’m a bit disappointed I must say 😔

Disagree with you a bit…. Some people buy luxury not just for the name but better quality and excellent Aftersale service….Chanel used to have one of the best Aftersale service but in Europe not anywhere else so much… I think Chanel in France still have much better Aftersale service in comparison to the rest of Europe or other countries…. To me I am paying premium price for expectation of that aftersale service and most importantly best quality….I think quality goods speak for themselves without necessary brand name protruding on every piece of clothing etc…. I think with the existence of social media there is definitely big shift in the idea of the luxury brand… it’s more now about outdoing a person next to you particularly on social media and who spends more and shops more etc…so luxury brands have to keep up with demands almost of mass production size due to ability of ordering goods from various parts of the world etc….and it is only natural that most brands just go after profits and hoping that this trend of high demand for their good continues and therefore quality becomes secondary for them…
