I’m not pissed. Relics are cool if done right. These are not done right. You simply had someone take a wire wire wheel to them and called it a day. Fender tends to make things look REALISTICALLY worn, which is why they are somewhat sought after. As in pre-worn jeans, the authenticity of the wear is crucial. When I build from scratch, I go at my guitars with a wire brush then do all kinds of layers. I go at the belt area with a bunch of keys. That Novo look is probably more a product of the wood than the technique. A wire brush doesn’t do much against alder but swamp ash can be dramatic in pronouncing the grain.

So I sticked a few lead plates into the tremolo compartment to balance it. Now the guitar is balanced but it weights 3,5 kg. Before it was more like 3,2 as far as I can remember. Thatś a pitty. This is great! First thing: Modern Guitars WILL NOT RELIC unless you purchase one that a has a Nitro finish, or B comes pre-relicd (because it has a thin finish) . SO if you buy a modern guitar since the 1980's unless you know it has a thin Nitro finish, it will never look age in this way... Thats why 30 year old Ibanez, or Charvels, or Kramers do not look relicd. What Solar should release next is the same Finish ... only very very lightly relicd. so we can do the rest!

I'm not pissed, I'm disappointed. I don't like artificial wear. It's not genuine. Each paint chip, scratch, etc. tells a story. This... they're posing, acting like they carry all of the experience of being used but it's all for show. It's a fun experiment sure, but buying a brand new guitar that looks beat up for $1,600 doesn't sit well with me. I couldn't justify it. I'm not a fan of them, but I know some are and that's okay. Complete the poser look by buying a modern relic'd guitar. On the upshot, these are likely to play and feel better than other relic'd models out there, so there's that. This just seems a little weird coming from a relatively new company. How long has Solar guitars even been in business? Like 6-7 years at most? You’d have to had bought one of their first ever produced guitars, toured non-stop, thrown it around, and played all the time 24/7 and there’s still no way you could have legitimately had that kind of wear on it naturally lol
