As Dr. Ekberg said, do not starve yourself. Our bodies are mysteries inside conundrums. Fasting itself is beneficial, but if your body goes into starvation mode? You'll get sick, have body aches, headaches, restless sleep, all sort of not fun punishments. Reading the labels, removing the sugars and the "Ose's" (fructose, dextrose, maltose, every "ose" is a sugar, many are toxic to the liver). Also, you'll have to reduce carbohydrates as far down as you can. I LOVE Keto because I can eat bacon and eggs, The skin from baked chicken, butter is not a bad word, and once you get out of that old mindset that fat is bad and will cause weight? It gets so much easier to change to a low/zero carb lifestyle.

@@danholtbk7008 Other than for "fast" energy. Humans are omnivores and have evolved two separate systems of fueling the machine. Unfortunately, humans have been conditioned (to a much larger extent) in the United States to "Consume". That has led to overconsumption which has led to metabolic syndrome, which leads to diabetes. Those are all "fueled" by capitalism. Sell more cheap food, make more profit, if the consumer "consumes" too much? That's OK, we have drugs and supplies to sell them... To make more profit. Don't get me wrong, the individual makes the choice, it's just strongly motivated toward overconsumption. I personally think it's set up on purpose to drive a profit model and the government supports the "model" because it's profitable for them too. Some day in the future when they figure stuff out. There will be entire chapters in the history books about how corrupt individuals conspired and planned to make the majority population fat and sickly... So that like cattle, they would be easy to control...

I used plenty of potassium powder and salt in my gallon water jug to make sure my electrolytes were good and applied magnesium gel most days. That was the best I felt in my while life. I was also having the worst time with my metformin and glyposide, and quit that several months ago. Obviously, my blood glucose was frequently north of 200. Now, one month after the five day fast, I’ve found it easy to do OMAD with intermittent fasting. My blood glucose has stayed within 100-110, generally, and my blood ketone level ranges from 1.9 to 2.4. As a complete carb-addict I have fallen down many times over the years, ( usually with fruit), but a 16 day water only fast last August allowed me to drop 21 pounds that I kept off for the past 6 months... but I mostly have one or two meals per day, usually steak or ground beef with salt only. On this regimen I do not lose anything at all... just as you mention in your video I am one of those who screwed up my metabolism years ago and so probably my only way to lose is eating one meal every second day or a total water fast as I did last year and several times over my lifetime... I do feel fabulous on just water even for longer than 16 days. I have gone up to 30 days... on just water. I have not eaten processed foods for about 40 years now... I will be 77 this year. @@thetruth14444 I'm not sure if you have done this it was a fast for me....to some what I did was extreme...and by definition fasting is the absence of food or drink...mine was solid food...the word is subjective....I'm never going a month with 0 calories unless is a situation I can't control...however it was easy for me to do a month on liquid only...I suggest everyone needs to do 24 hours to give the digestive system a break so the body can actually repair itself...

Eating 16/8 helps me lose weight very slowly as well to maintain weight. However, I need to lose a lot of weight so I should be doing 20/4 or OMAD. I've been having a hard time transitioning to that next level but I feel eventually I will get there.

Maybe half hour or hour at a time. At about 17 hours, I usually go for a walk, start exercising, running errands or get into a project that keeps me distracted. After the 18 hr mark, I'm not actually hungry, but my emotional eating kicks in...stay busy!

Try 17 hours . My fasting style is 18:6 but I do 2 hours on top of it so technically I do 20:4 or 21: 3 . Leaving it at 18:6 makes it seem so achievable. It's all in the mind and how you trick it
@edgaracevedo96582 жыл бұрын
@@nikkitontelle I reviewed the last few weeks and I did not realize I was actually doing 17 hours and some days 18 hours. Usually I finish dinner at 630pm and I eat again the next day at 1130am. Some days I finished dinner at 530pm and next day 1130am lunch so that is 18 hours. I guess my next goal should be to move to 20 hours but I can start by extending it to 19 hours first or 18 1/2. My mistake was trying to do OMAD cold turkey and I kept failing. I can do this!

Last few days I've been craving slightly salted crisps with hummus so badly and have been struggling to fast longer than 18 hours a day this week... I think the link between carb consumption and cravings is an interesting one... I can eat a whole large bag (around 500 calories) and not only am I still hungry afterwards, I also find fasting the next day is harder. Going to try and push through and NOT have those crisps for next few days at least.

That is a difficult part. I went all in and got down to 0 carbs with a Keto/Carnivore method, then worked toward OMAD which worked out to a 20:4 fasting. I was able to maintain ketosis after about 3 to 5 weeks, and once that started I was able to work toward extending my fasts to 48 hours all the way up to 96 (I still cannot do 5-day). Our bodies crave the easy way. And if we've eaten high carb, high sugar diets for decades? Our bodies get accustomed to not needing to work to produce energy due to an overabundance of fuel. Now we start to change things 😱 and like that "Old Dog" that doesn't want to learn new tricks? It becomes a game of patience and time and more time. I started to work some of my old "foods" back into my diet after about 18 months (I lost 110 lbs, still have a tiny tummy and some loose skin)... And guess what? My body started _CRAVING_ the carbohydrates within a few weeks of just adding a few pieces of "normal" pizza or a bag of "Quality" chips. So you are truly not alone and don't give up. It does work and once you push through those cravings (you've got to cut them out 100%) they do go away. Your body will fight you. I got headaches, had trouble sleeping (restless), and even felt yucky but I soldiered through it.

I did 3 days keto and and my cravings for food specialty carbs stopped. Now I control the food not the other way around. I am doing low carb diet (not refined carbs) and intermittent fasting. I divide my plate in 3 parts: only one part is carbohydrate, the other 2 contains vegetables and protein. In 2.5 months I have lost 25 lbs. Another thing, I stopped snacking. I hope that helps.

Hard to believe that there’s still folks, including DR.s, who believe fasting and IF are of little benefit. The info, knowledge and willingness to help people live a healthy life by understanding the complex ways of how our bodies react to everything we encounter, is very much appreciated. I sure have benefited from all of your knowledge of taking care of your SELF, and then we can use that knowledge to help others if they wish.

I am watching your channel for the past 6 months and I find your videos very informative and encouraging. I have been in intermittent fasting "mode" 14/10, 12/12 for maybe a year, just because I felt that 3 full meals per day was too much, especially a full breakfast. Yesterday I concluded my first attempt of 48 hours fasting with no problem at all, no cravings no hunger... I really love your detailed explanations on how our body works and it is astonishing how wrong we were taught about nutrition. It seems that we forgot that nature has been improving and updating the human physiology for thousands of years in order to make us able to survive. Though, a question pops up, since everything is programmed in a such wise way... why almost anything that tastes good is not healthy, why our taste receptors are "more fond of" sweet and salty than sour and bitter (I suppose you are aware about Hippocrates theory of 4 flavors). Of course, up to a certain level, it is matter of habits starting from the very first age of our lives but the example of a baby's reaction when he tastes something sweet and then something sour makes me wonder why nature hasn't switched our taste response away from sweet and salty.....i mean, I can hardly think of someone who would choose a plate of broccoli with lemon over a basket of fries with cedar on...🤤

Thank You Oli Fors. Jag tror att det är mest genetiskt. I vissa fall kan det bero på näringsbrist, men då ser man också ofta andra tecken som oregelbunden hårväxt och tunt hår. 😄
