I'm sorry but it's not that simple because if I eat carbs with fat (like bread and butter) the fat blocks the insulin and the spike doesn't occur. It's not that easy. Intermittent fasting works for some people and doesn't for others, just like calories out and calories in. The video is certainly interesting, but the theory of weight loss cannot be simplified like this.

Not only does he know what he is talking about down to the little details, he connects the dots and adds the missing parts that are needed in order for one to understand the big picture. In addition, his empathetic and well prepared delivery of such complicated information makes for a much easier assimilation of the knowledge. Outstanding!

I've been counting calories on and off since 1973. Each time I dieted I lost weight, only to put it back on and at a higher level. I did this most years. By the end of last year I was prediabetic, with a heart condition, and on 6 medications, weighing in at 254lbs. I had always tried to do low fat, high fibre and exchanging saturated fat with PUFA margarine. I was ill from water on the lung. Then I read Robert Lustig's Metabloical, Jason Fung's Complete Guide to Fasting and Gary Taubes The Case for KETO. Since January I am down 44lbs to 15 stone, I have stopped 4 medications, and my A1C is back to normal. Kill the carbs before the carbs kill you.

Over a yr & half I started keto lost slowly, then did intermittent fasting with it one meal a day. Hit a plateau of 4 mos without loss. Changed to carnivore, OMAD lost 6lbs. Was able to sustain this without starving or feeling bad & hit anther plateau. Now I am not feeling well, my stomach has hunger pains now worse than ever. I have taken Omeprazole 40 mg most of adult life. Type 2 diabetic, obese, & need to lose for knee surgery. Had steroid shot 3 wks ago which spiked sugar for 2 wks. My lowest blood sugar ever was 88. Even with fasting it stays around 120. No insulin. Antacids are all sweet , don’t want to use. How to stop stomach pain & weakness. Help please.

@@jtedandlindasimpson7044 You don't mention if you had a dietician to guide you or not. Also, have you visited a doctor for your stomach? From personal experience I can tell you that no diet is perfect for everyone because we are not copies of one another. I had to lose 6 kilos and I had blood sugar and cholesterol over normal. My theroid was behind them. I also had serious stomach problems and I had gastroscopy. I needed therapy. Mastich capsules help but don't solve the problem. I had a dietician who gave me different diets but pointed out I had to release stress. A balaced diet helped me in the end. And movement. What I found out myself was that the morning coffee with some coconut milk helped my stomach, after breakfast of course, while plain coffee caused acidity.Don't eat heavy meals late in the evening, as well.

Dr Eckberg. You hit the nail on the head. I am 58 now. But I remember until the age of 12 I was eating EVERY DAY my breakfast SOLELY with 7 grain bread and MAINLY with brown sugar, sometimes jam. NEVER meat and almost never cheese. I was VERY active that time. Driving every day many kilometres with my bike constantly at full speed. In school my teacher always complained why I was constantly hopping with my feet. And I was the lightest and strongest of my class. But when growing older I observed brainfog was slowly but gradually setting in until a point I observed that I was about 48 years old but I lost lots of my abilities and brainpower. I also lost my job back than. If it was not for realizing this in time I would certainly going downhill much more. After changing lifestyle I was stabilizing for few years. But thanks for the knowledge from you and Dr Berg I am really recovering now from my depression, overweight and brainfog. Thank you Dr Eckberg.

Sten, I owe you so much! I'm almost 59. I've battled with my weight all my life. I've always had an active lifestyle with plenty of excersize and tried following the SAD diet. M I blood pressure qas creeping up. I always felt I was borderline type 2, and avoided a lot of sweets and processed food because of the way I felt after I ate it. I never ate breakfast because it made me feel like a flat tire for the rest of the morning. I think these habits helped me get a good start. I started watching your videos towards the end of May. By the beginning of September I have lost 42 pounds and I feel great! I am doing this with my doctor's supervision. (he is doing keto too so I didn't get any objections from him) My blood work taken in June was amazingly good. Fasting glucose 78. A1C 5.5. C Peptide .65. It was a little rough at first becoming fat adaptive, but that was short lived. The biggest drawback I've seen so far is I no longer own a pair of pants that fit. Thank you again!

I am a Melanesian afro islander and I have realised the western diet has been detrimental to my health. I am now back to island food fruit vegetables yams taro lots of greens , less white rice less sugar no milk. Thank you so much for your wisdom. I am still alive . I have gone from a size 87kg to 74 kgs over 4 months and have less asthma attacks and don't feel bloated or flushed. The fasting was key. I started taking out the snacks, I took out sugar, I swapped pasta white rice with salad yam or lots greens. I then went from 3 meals to 2x breakfast and dinner. During the day I have water. I now walk around the block 3x times aweek and on Sundays my daughter rides her bike and I walk back and forth around a court.... Thank you so much . Your wisdom and knowledge are amasing. It's amazing how you provide so much information in an understandable way. I've tried a lot of "heathy diet" advise and it's interesting how the body adapts. I cut out a bad habit and my weight drops but remains on the same level no matter how much extra exercise I do. I drop another bad habit and the same thing happens. When you remove the body's enemies, it tends to try to function correctly again. I've lost about 23 kg (~50lbs) this way, the majority of which were from changing eating habits.

When I told them that it also depends on metabolism, hormones, and that 1000cal of carbs are not the same as 1000 cal of proteins, they all laughed at me and said I was dumb and I should just exercise more and eat less ( even if I was already eating 1000cal per day and no carbs ). It is. Comprehensive and almost lovingly articulated. No need to search youtube anymore about this subject.

Dr. Ekberg, thanks for explaining everything so explicitly. I have stubborn visceral fat. I do exercise but not on a regular basis. My body really responds well when I work out on a consistent basis. I want to thank you for all the knowledge that you provided us with.

Appreciate these videos so much! I have reprioritized how I spend spare time! Everytime I watch one of your videos I get inspired. I can relate to most of what you share. Love getting pointed in the right direction. I'm a 73 year old female. I fell into this from being hit with an extremely stress filled life the past 20 years. My once health life fell into stress pit. I am now motivated to take your advise and change my life! Thank you!!!!

Dear Dr. Ekberg. Thanks as always for your extremely helpful videos! Your approach to look at the body in a holistic way is so necessary. And with your style of teaching and explaining all the topics it's quit easy and also fun to try and reach this goal. And the motivation for that comes along the way as well. 🙂 I'm on Keto now for 3 years and IF for almost 3 years and it all works just fine and I feel great. But just recently I bought a bodyfat scale and discovered that my subcutaneous and visceral fat is still a bit to high. So this video came just in time! I try to adopt all your instructions in this video from now on as good as I can to further improve my health. Thank you! 🤗

Thank you Dr. Ekberg! I followed you for 4 months now . I lost 30 pounds total. Changing my lifestyle was the key that includes, fasting 16-18 hrs and occasional 24-36 hrs fasting. Selective eating of organic foods. Plus meditation breathing techniques. To improve parasympathetic responses. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Can’t wait for my labs coming up in June 2023.

Exercise pulls sugar out of the bloodstream. If you exercise in the morning, there’s little carbs available then where does the energy come from? Does it mean the body uses glycogen or protein to keep you going?!?

This is by far my most favorite and the most informative health related channel on KZbin. I've been taking Dr. Ekberg's information and putting it to use. So far I've lost fifty-two pounds and my blood pressure went from pre-hypertension to well below average. People ask me if I'm doing Keto or what diet I'm on and I tell them that it's not a diet. I'm just eating healthy things in moderation and I stop eating at eight at night and don't eat again until noon the following day. Nice to see that bike riding was suggested as I recently purchased a bike and ride ten miles everyday and twenty miles on Sunday. I get my heart rate up to about 115-120 and keep it there for about an hour which is how long it takes me to do ten miles. The difference that this lifestyle change has made is unbelievable. I've still got another twenty-five pounds to go. I just hope that I don't disappear but if I do don't look for me. ;) Thank you Dr. Ekberg and thank you for delivering your message so calmly. Just watching your videos calms the mind.

The stress - cortisol levels hit home. I did very well w IF, walking daily and seldom OMAD during COVID. As SOON as I returned to work (in office) 🤦🏽‍♀️ all went downhill! Is there a support group to join - it’s not hard to get back on track but difficult to maintain due to emotional stability 😞
