My hubby was a health and safety inspector with GM (25 years ago) when called to a wood shop similar to the one here. It just so happened that the young man ( who was a dear friend of ours as well) who just the night before delivered his baby daughter before he got killed there at the wood shop the next day. You can only imagine how horrific the scene was. It was not up to good OSHA standards therefore the accident happened as there were no rails and guards up for protection. He fell in front of the blade. I know that is terrible to share but safety in a place such as this is the number one concern. The guy here has his hand out to catch the wood pieces. If there was a little snag on the wood it could pull on his hand and he may lose it. I can hardly watch this again to see if there were guards but I can say I truly hope so as these souls live’s are precious.

@@woodsawmillskill Not sure what species of Mahogany this is, but unlikely to be a Philippine Cedar like Luan, which is often passed off as Mahogany, I could be wrong. If it's a central/south American Mahogany or African variety, it's notorious for causing allergic reactions, and other long lasting issues. I don't mind the obvious protection issues, if knows what he's doing. I did similar as a boat carpenter long ago, and I still have all parts. It's the sneaky things that get you.
