I totally dumped keto. I wasn’t losing weight. I was still inflamed. I still had high blood pressure that I needed medication for, and the list goes on. I switched to carnivore last May. My BP is 111/68 without medication, no inflammation, no allergies, and I’m under 200 for the first time in about 30 years. I mainly eat high fat and meat, but I concentrate on fat. I am a new woman at basically 60.

im not old or fat but I have experimented with different diets long term and after 6 months of Keto, i started losing patches of facial hair. I didnt notice any great fat results and was aiming to have visible abs. Tried it again 7 years later and noticed more visible scalp as if I was losing some hair. I think the best eating habits are to fast and eat only natural food. noting processed, no sugar, no oils. Only 1 ingredient natural food and perhaps calorie count when trying to lose weight. Eat less every other day. Go for long walks and strength train. digesting all that KETO fat gets boring and heavy. Going strict carnivore is also boring. it's not sustainable unless you really have to do it for health reasons. eating shouldn't have to be such a chore. I also got lab results with elevated liver enzymes after eating all that keto stuff like bunch of eggs.

Hard relate to this. Almost feels like this video is about me. In my case I never wanted to be a KZbinr let alone a Keto one because I started in 2011 and there was no Keto then. I was a heavy metal cooking channel that I did for fun to share my food and music. Fast forward I realized it was too much work in 2015 and just made single camera videos when I had time. I tried the Keto diet and was so impressed by turning cauliflower into pizza that I had to upload that and share it. Next thing you know I'm getting 10x the views and comments that I ever did. I tried vegan, vlogs and tons of things but the audience kept wanting Keto and so I followed that because for me I just want my content to reach more people and I was living the Keto lifestyle as best I could. But I love food, I'm a foodie and I did Keto for weight loss so at some point I realized it wasn't sustainable for me. Keto as a trend as well started to decline in 2019 or so. While there were more people doing Keto than ever before not all of them were looking for new recipes or to try different foods. For many once they had their initial set of basic recipes and foods that was good enough. Plus tons more Keto products in the market so the need to cook and make everything from scratch was gone. I didn't want to disappoint my audience (which I'd already done by quitting Keto) so I continue to make Keto recipes and try and find a balance. Finally last year I realized I just needed to follow a new path but you are right, it's hard when you've got a massive subscriber base that is pretty dead. I meet so many people who tell me they used to watch my videos when they were Keto and once they stopped Keto they stopped watching. That's the other side of it. The audience themselves don't all sustain the diet and once they are off it they aren't watching Keto channels anymore. With nearly 700k subs maybe I should have started a new channel but I never had KETO in my name. All I can think and the approach I can take is give 100% this year to whatever I'm doing and maybe it all works out eventually. 700k subs is a lot but it's only a fraction of 7 million right? So know knows. I think cooking videos have also evolved and that old format isn't as popular as the new wave of cooking channels. Anyway that's a bit about my experience. I think you two are doing a fantastic job. More power to you!
@technicallyketo

Hey Sahil! You are not alone in your experience on KZbin, so many people feel the same way because of the way the algorithms work, if you don't pick a niche, youtube will pick one for you because you will hit an audience and keep doubling down. But sometimes even just being keto, in general, is not specific enough these days... Even within our content (being keto) we find that we have to be careful what we make videos about, and we try new things and get put in our place really quick. That's why we started this second channel. The active viewers on our main channel weren't clicking as often on our "talking" videos compared to our cooking videos, so we decided to separate them so the videos don't impact each other. Even with choices of recipes we try, we have to pick the right recipes or our audience won't click. We are always trying to figure it out, it's confusing. In our experience, subscribers do not matter at all anymore. Active viewers matter. If we don't make every single video for a specific person to click on, they won't click. If they don't click on several videos in a row, youtube will stop showing our videos to them at all on their homepage (which is where 75% of views come from) -Emily

I gotta be honest, I actually thought about your channel while watching this video. I loved your channel, but I did, and do, eat keto. So the cooking you switched to... I mean, I still liked your style and your music, but I didn't want to watch the actual content anymore. It actually made me sad to see you move away from keto. It's always a jarring experience when someone you like and respect rejects a thing that is important to you. It forces some level of re-evaluation of what you're doing. I definitely did that when you changed your content, which is really a crazy response to someone who makes videos that wouldn't recognize you on the street lol. I'm glad you're still around though, I hope you've rebuilt the channel and your music is getting heard.

Ladies I'm glad y'all are just being yourselves. I actually started keto during the pandemic as a way to take control of my life and diet and your channel has been a huge influence to helping me lose and maintain over 100 pounds of weight. It sucks other creators jump off the boat but at this point I'm creating my own recipes more often than finding what others are doing on their platforms. Y'all and other creators gave me the tools to be successful in my ketogenic lifestyle.

Congratulations!!! Same, there are only a few keto channels I follow anymore. You get in your groove and know what works for you. Being militant about keto is what got me to goal-ish territory (lost 85), but the time came for me to go on autopilot and do my thing. I’m into the like-minded channels that have fun with it. The twins are just like hanging out with friends that have the same interests. 🙂

Serious Keto, Steve, also has his share of haters. All You Tube creators have the "crazies". Some people are just so shallow. I follow keto channels because I feel I belong. I don't have anyone close to me to share my gratitude to the diet for my new found good health. Or anyone interested in the science behind the bad effects of eating bad oils, sugar, and processed carbs. So I share this part of me with keto creators. And I greatly appreciate being on the same boat with you two crazy girls. Thanks for sharing with us and putting yourselves out there. Always know there are at least 10 times more people liking you than being jerks. We just don't always have something to say.💜

It’s because they are either jealous or they are hiding behind the computer screen where they feel empowered. Most of them, if they were face to face wouldn’t even think about saying 90% of what they say “anonymously “ over their computer to people they have never met etc. I guess they feel good about themselves when they tear somebody else down. Addressing the haters gives them more power just block them.

The holidays (this year) was the death 💀 of my 2year keto journey. I basically quit from the middle of October (starting a 3 week fall in the Midwest vacation) to now. Once the non-keto foods were reintroduced over that time - I literally lost control of my carb cravings & just went with it. Results? Gained 19 pounds 😢 & the carb cravings were wicked 🧙‍♀️. So, I’m back to keto. It’s just what works for me. Glad you are still here! 😊 🎉Happy New Year!

I did the same thing. But I got back on it two weeks ago, and the thrill is back. I dropped six pounds already, and it feels so good. I'm sold, and I'm not going back. I'm really a sugar/starch addict, and I have to accept it. I finally found a way to get bread now that I discovered the eincorn flour mixed with no-carb fillers from Victoria's keto kitchen. I will be staying on keto, but it's easy for me because my husband is going along with me.

I am a gardener on keto! So is my sister. That would be so fun! By the way, when I was in lockdown during the covid thing I only ordered groceries from Walmart that were keto. When so many people complained about gaining weight I was getting healthier! If I have food I should not eat here at home then I will eat it so I wouldn't buy any. I went from 195 to 150 with Keto! Yay! Then I gained back a lot and am currently at 180. I have learned so much about healthy keto foods from you two. But with my body I am finding I need more fiber and vegetables for my gut. So I am doing a little keto and modify it with foods for my gut. Meat, veggies, and fat at responsible amounts really suits me best. We are all in the fickle stage now and then. Just keep healthy and do what works best for your body. ❤ Thanks for helping me along the way ❤

Thanx for all ya do, girls, i very much admire and enjoy u both.

I absolutely love your talking head videos I know you’ve said this content doesn’t do as well as your food and recipe content but this is my favorite content. What’s worked for you, what hasn’t your own struggles and successes. I love you ladies! I am back on keto after jumping way off the wagon over the holidays. I never once thought of myself as NOT keto even then, just a keto-cheater. But after weeks of said cheating my joints ache, my bones (or titanium-both legs, it’s a thing) ache and I feel pretty much physically miserable plus my usual adorable demeanor (LOL) is on vacation. You two have convinced me all along I AM keto and can STAY keto, even if I DO cheat for a hot minute! I hate that y’all have to wade through ugly comments and it annoys me so much that you even get ugly comments as adorbs as y’all are but I get it, some people are just ugly, and angry, and feeling miserable so they take it out on y’all with unkind words. Well, I’m tickled y’all aren’t going anywhere and are in this for as long as you can stand it! You really are such an inspiration to me and obviously a hundred thousand others!! You are innovative and funny and cute as you can be and creative and just feels like y’all are the girls next door I want to make a keto cheesecake for every couple months and just have a fun little get-together with! But it’s awesome bc I get to hang out with you weekly or more and don’t have to share the cheesecake! HA! Love you girls!!

Just from experience in my own journey having been super restrictive keto and now lower carb, I would probably say some other reasons why a lot of influencers have quit keto is due to an unhealthy mental relationship with food---meaning it's easy at first because keto brings fast results so motivation is high...but progress slows so now we struggle emotionally and mentally and get into a restrict-binge-restrict-binge cycle without really healing on the mental level and fostering a good relationship with food. The other less common reason is they have reached goal weight and want to build muscle by incorporating more carbs with a balanced lifestyle approach. But from the ones I follow that have given up, it's due to mental struggles and not having the healthy food relationship. The other 10% is truly about building lean muscle after reaching their goal.

You’re so right! I’m in the same spot you are, I estimate that I have maybe 30-40 net per day, but I don’t count squat since I lost the vast majority of what I wanted to lose. I weigh myself every couple months and if it’s up a bit, I know what to do to correct it. I love how in control I feel in this lifestyle!

@@meh_lady yes...i lost the majority of my weight with strict keto but then my progress slowed way down...plateaued for two years regardless of what I tried cutting out or tweaking so at that point since I was not getting any more results (with 50 pounds left to lose) I started viewing the healthy foods (I.e. broccoli/veggies) as bad. It was at that point I decided to take a break and just do lower carb to maintain my loss. 2 years maintenance so far and I'm only within 5 pounds of where I was when I stopped keto. My max carb intake per day though is no more than 100g total and I focus primarily on protein and fiber intake. My relationship with food is healed and I no longer view certain foods as "bad or good" but now look at food as fuel and how it can serve my body. It's a long journey but I have the rest of my life to lose my last 50. For now I'm just maintaining. When I'm ready I know what steps and basics to get back too....its literally that simple. Too many make it so complicated which is another downfall.
