The parallels between the mythological aspects and the actual underlying themes of the case makes this series an eye-candy, and I wish you pointed out the representation of the cast as it covers all diaspora: age, gender, sexual orientation, making it seem as if everyone has a role in this town, irrespective of what and who they are. Also the accurate representation of mental health struggles a potential victim may face is accurately talked about, the trauma and the way mental health is spoken is also accurate! 10/10 would recommend this for anyone willing to explore this series

Some may predict the main twist. But, the screenplay and the world-building are so good that we don't want to miss the full experience. Also jammy, Aishwarya Rajesh does play a lot of roles in tamil, atleast 2-3 of her films releases every year and she is also working in other languages. The thing is, she has developed a kind of filmography with which she has shown that she can carry the weight of a film. So, she usually doesn't fall into commercial trap just for the sake of role in a big film. She waits for meaty roles.

i too completed this series just yesterday. Watched first two episodes a day before. thought of watching two more, ended up watching the rest in one go till 3 a.m. Very gripping! the way story unfolds, the characters get revealed - u explained it perfectly - like layers of onion! the crime was also very topical and it did trigger lot more repressed memories. most of the women have undergone some kind of sexual abuse in their childhood and mostly by their own family or neighbours. Only the level of abuse varies. Many of us bury it in our deepest memories. This movie did jolt those emotions! The way the makers made the village as a unique chr to the story was very impressive! Shriya Reddy was the most impressive! i don't know why I remembered Dhrishyam Inspector mom when i saw Shriya's portrayal. I found Regina more layered and interesting!

A who done it done right. This is the perfect masterpiece of who-dun-it genre with the basic structures exploring class divides, religious divides, preconceived notions, jumping the gun with apt elaboration. This is a perfect piece of art, the twists and turns are very organic in nature and the twists are the drivers of the narrative. Every twist is not a twist rather a closer inspection/observation of incidents. This series also grapples with a proverbial elephant inside Indian families. Plus this is also a film of toughening up and facing one's fears. The character of Aishwariya Rajesh goes through a psychological metamorphosis. The backdrop i.e. a mountain town of Tamil Nadu during a festival of a local goddess aka vanquisher of the evil aptly captures the general motif of the narrative. The fares, festivals, processions, rituals play a very big part in the narrative. Even the climax where the screenplay is shuffled between two incidents is just spectacular and fabulous. If you like Chekov's gun aka smart foreshadowings there will be plenty in the series. Script :- Excellent Screenplay :- Excellent Acting :- Excellent Colour Grading :- Apt and enhances the experience Direction :- Top Notch

On your question on why artist like Aishwarya Rajesh is not frequently casted in Tamil Cinemas is because there's still skin color stigma over there. The locals over there do want local talent to get casted more frequently but there's just these strong stereotypes when it comes to commercial movies where the actresses has to be light skinned. Apparently commercial values also derived by sex appeal a movie has and most commercial movies use it as one of marketing strategy. Personally, I can't say that's it's wrong or right because they got a business to run and whatever brings the most profit wins. Tldr: Whatever brings the most profit will be applied.

Can we expect a dark skinned female actor in Bollywood, Tollywood or anywhere. Stigma exists throughout India. Hollywood is far better.
@yuvan64992 жыл бұрын
@@user-v2qdfg-v53e On your comment, remember Kajol, rani mukherji are also dark skinned and they did very well in Bollywood and I'm sure there some in Tollywood as well and there are even discrimination against Black people in Hollywood so I'd say the stigma exist everywhere but there are exceptions like Kajol, Will smith and etc but unlike any other country, India has a obsession for light skinned. I mean Fair & Lovely is such a huge hit in India because of that reason and that product doesn't even work. Lol.

Very well summarised and opined by Jammy. I didn't even look at what's happening in which episode. Just binge watched it in one go. With the experience of watching so many layered thrillers over the last 15 yrs, I was sure that what's on your face is not true. But I just tagged along. I was skeptical and more interested about those Level 2 characters including the actual killer. I don't wanna put down spoilers here. But I have few more points which let me focus on why I thought XYZ was the killer. Probably another day.

I had lots of suspects right from the beginning. Each episode the mist clears a bit more & by the beginning of the last episode, I thought it was either that Business guy's dad or Guna. Turned out to be the second. Very engaging and well written script with each episode ending on a cliffhanger to leave the audience glued. I honestly didn't think too much when the old guy told Guna why he didn't attend the festival. He entered my suspects list because of that random asthma attack and that scene getting abruptly changed.

I had the same thoughts about who the culprit might be but when I rewatched it with my mother, I noticed several hints as to why Guna is the culprit.

I just wonder, tamil makers make a storyline by creating parallels to mythology and getting praised... What if a hindi maker would have done the same ?? There's a scene in which priests ask for girls ashes as prasad Or dancer arrest scene because police thinking it's a case of sacred killings... Not saying anything against any makers but just thinking how hypocrite are we in real life...
@TriedRefusedProductions2 жыл бұрын
I genuinely have a take on this that hindi cinema can't get away with it! Even an attempt to create a nuanced take on religion and practises is deciphered, decimated and dismissed as anti-'any religion'. Tamil and Malayalam cinema especially on OTT get away with having these nuanced takes because their audience accepts as creative expression. hindi cinema and creators on the other hand, if attempt to do the same, would get the vitriol of boycott campaigns and FIR's: its a fact!

@@TriedRefusedProductions bro to be frank. It's not that hindi cinema has lost all creative talent and doesn't have ideas. It's just that the ppl of one particular organization (U KNOW WHO) have so much power and control over b'wood, social media and social life in hindi-belt that they don't want anything against their beliefs. we can clearly see it in the kind of films that are getting undue attention in the hindi belt. The time they get out of power, b'wood would re-surge with all creativity and path breaking original ideas that challenge the status quo.... Love from TN❤❤

Aishwarya has the ability to overpower actors no matter how mass they are and it just doesn't suit the male chauvinistic commercial cinema ,she isn't much of a dancer as well , so she gets ignored and gets cast only for small town roles or she's mostly cast as a docile village girl because of her skin tone ,bitter truth !!!

Su'zh'al , the 'zh' part is completely unknown to a non Tamil and Malayali's. But I vaguely know that Marathi as well has such letter in their language. Rest of the India pronounce it as 'z' as in Zebra. But as per Tamil and Malayalam, this 'zh' part is pronounced as 'rrh' the 'r' part must roll while you pronounce. Suzhal is actually Su'rrh'al. I'm a Telugu btw. Sorry If my explanation is wrong.

I have to be mindful of social media nomenclature when marketing videos brother. It's so that it appeals to a wider audience. The term 'south indian movie' may have become dated and I hope the same happens for 'bollywood' but its early days!
