Being somewhat fair- These guys don't think much of the fact that Rimiru's been hanging with Dwargon for a while and doing trade with them. So in some MINOR understanding especially with the huge amount they've been asking for it's understandable that they'd be unsure if they were forged or not. The issue is the sheer amount of high subterfuge aligned with it. Had they just asked and went "Wait" with 'natural' suspicion then it's likely that Rimiru'd have mentioned his connections.

A key point that was not included in the episode has to do with Dwarven Coins being in pristine condition, never circulated. the season condensed and removed a lot of information. They really need more seasons of Slime Diaries to help fill in gaps. Maybe add another side show 'Board Room Meetings in Tempest' as well.

In reality, people are often too lazy or scared to hire new contractors, and return to scumbags who have proven they can at least do the work. The reason Rimuru was able to tell them to screw off is because he had reporters (who actually report news) in the room that could damage the Eastern merchants. I like this show fine, but the sheer OP plot armor the main cast has is ridiculous.

I liked the LN version more. Rimuru threw their own words back at them better. "Just as you demand to be paid in only one way, we too have the right to choose how we do business. And it's no longer with you." He also drilled them about how they gave zero trust to him and his country with any other form of agreement. "Just as you can't trust us, we won't trust you." It's my favorite scene in the LNs.

Now the merchants lost the chance to directly work with Tempest, but thanks to Gard mediating, they can set the price to whatever they want because they’re in debt to him. Yes you are correct. However it wouldn't do well for Rimuru publicly if he allowed that. Rimuru would also have problems potentially forming alliances with other countries even if he was in the right. The best option was to tell the merchants go screw themselves and won't do business in the future. As a ruler, benevolence is important but you also need to know the time and place to be ruthless.

Yes and no. Rimuru tells them that they will not do business with them, but he also told Gard to speak to them discreetly. With them trading through Gard's company with Tempest, they are still able to tap into the huge new market that's about to open, but now owe a huge favor to Gard. Their profits will be smaller since they have to work through a middle man, and that middle man (Gard) can set the prices they want to maximize profit for himself and Tempest. That's the price you have to pay in order to do business in Tempest after blatantly insulting their leader with doubts about his ability.

They failed at military action, so they tried economic. Luckily, iirc in the ln they found out this conspiracy early, and were able to figure out how to make it backfire.

The merchants have nothing to complain about. It was their prejudice against his country that allowed this to happen to themselves. Trust in business goes 2 ways for both the client and the person providing them with the essentials. If trust on either side is broken and there's no point continuing such business relations. People seem to misunderstand something. Just because rimeru is kind doesn't mean he won't get back at you if you do something that upsets him. And thanks to that, they all lost the business opportunity of a lifetime. Tempest will only continue to grow and get better from here on out.

The merchants refused to accept those coins and wanted to be paid in dwargon coins, which are the locally traded currency. Think of it like how the US Dollar is used in a lot of international trade even if the US isn't a part of said trade. Like when Canada trades with Mexico, they don't use their own currency, they use the us dollar

@@idkalan00 One thing to add is the merchants originally agreed to be paid with Rimiru's coin, but then corrupt men spread rumours that Rimiru's money was no good which is why they demanded the dwarven money. The corrupt people were counting on Rimiri not being able to pay and either looking like cheats, or the corrupt people swooping in with predatory loans to allow Rimiru to pay it off. Either way they won. Rimiru utterly undid their plans by being able to pay.

They can, but merchants also can request payment in international value if they bring something from other countries. And it's true. Imagine sold something with their currency like Zimbabwe currency plus it's unstable and pretty new, just to find out how low that to intenational currency like USD or EUR. So Rimuru's move was smart to not let them ruin his reputation and even got profit from them.

During business transactions there are certain things you can’t say/do other wise you can risk losing trust immediately(using the racial term monster). Because deal was very big. He got 2500 gold coins from gazel and elmeshia to pay it. Rimuru has lot of money but not in form of acceptable currencies.

@@skebaba918 stellar coins are usually keeped as reserve currency. So most of time they just stay in treasurey. And exchanging that much currency isn't done in casual way like rimuru did with gazel or elmeshia. Basically there's not much information about rimuru and tempest and how close his relationship is with other countries. So they didn't think he has enough dwargon gold coins which they weren't totally wrong. If relationship between gazel amd rimuru wasn't that close it would have been hard for him to get coins. So those guy weren't stupid just comman sense doesn't aply for rimuru.
