BTW, for those of you wondering about the Dark Power Labs caddy and SSD enclosures. I own both EVF and LCD versions and that SSD enclosure/system behaves in the same way. And yes I got his recommended Sabrent m.2 SSD. I often only get a minute of record time before it stop recording. The only reliable solution for long format 4K recording is the Samsung T5. That said the 1080 out of the FP scales incredibly well to 4K output. It looks more film like due to the "grain" and that 12 bit fidelity seems to add color resolution (best as I can articulate) to make up for that sharpness. The result makes it look like a 4K remaster of an analog film.

Interesting! I did not know that about the DPL mod. Interesting. I really need to try and upscale 1080. O realized last year that if you use the right “sharp” Lens it actually is pretty sharp and clean. That’s what I get for using vintage lenses for the first 2 years of using the fp lol

I've seen this guy of AsagiMadara attempting this setup a few weeks ago, but yes he came to conclusion that heat issue and bad buffering makes this a solution only useable for very short shooting durations. In folowing videos the guy stated to have found a shortly bigger alternative, but allowing to shoot 30 minutes continuously (with the addition of a heatsink on the body of it). In case the reference can be useful for you to test it also, it is the Logitech LMD-SPDH100UC SSD. I am not able to put a hand on it for now because european SSD market is unfortunately a bit lacking of these kind of mini SSD stuff and I probably will end up to order it from Japan with a long-time delivery, but I would be very intersted to see how well it could perform. It seems to be the closest thing to the kind of minimalism I wish I could achieve for a Sigma FP rig, but with a longer time of recording.

I live in the Philippines where it currently reaches about 50 degrees celsius (122 degrees fahrenheit). 29.9 fps UHD 12 bit lasts about 1 minute to 1:30. 24 fps is around 2 minutes to 2:30 minutes. Why destroy camera functionality with this device? On the market for $200 you can buy 4 TB compact disks that fp writes to non-stop. There are plenty of compact mountings and cheap flat cables for them... The disk is in the way..., write 12-bit raw to the card while maintaining moisture protection... I don’t support it, this is degradation for the camera, it is already compact and the disk in most cases is a huge benefit, not a hindrance!
