We took the new Z06 with corsa extreme midpipe and exhaust for a weekend getaway. This morning we get up and ready to come home and there is about 20 Harley Davidson riders getting ready to leave as well. We are parked about 5 cars away from there crew of bikes but there is no cars between us so we can see them. It was about 8:30, very quiet outside. A couple of these riders where looking at the vette when we went to start it but there was a bunch that werent. And that exhaust scared the crap out of a handful of them.....We all got a good laugh out of it.....Was me and the wife's first time out in the vette, pretty darn cool experience as we ran into other vette owners on the highway and caravan-ed a couple different times. Lots of people taking pics of our car and saying nice things. seem to really love the vette.....Was an absolute blast

I think it depends on what you do with your car. Ya they are great for no brake dust, and for moderate racing are good. BUT, they often don't work as well when first cold and operate better once warmed up. Whenever a wheel is removed from your car, whether by you or a shop, you BETTER put that cover on them, because they are surprisingly fragile, and if you hit the wheel against one or drop a wrench and get a little chip or crack, you're out a thousand dollar rotor! Lastly, they may not necessarily be the best for high speed road racing even though that's what most people think. Their reduced fade is debatable, as a good steel rotor and pad will resist fade just as well. They have been for decades. And these rotors will wear out with high speed racing, and they are a hell of a lot more $$ to replace than steel. So while they do have some nice benefits and look cool, there are arguments either way as to whether you really should spend the money for them. I'm not being a hater, just presenting both sides. I'd have to think hard before I spent the money on them.

I have a highly tuned VW Golf R. And I had upgraded the discs to slotted and put EBC redstuff ceramic STREET pads in. The break dust is a lot less and the bite is amazing. When I get the money here in the next 6mo to a yr I will be getting the GS with either the Z07 pkg or just the breaks. its a smart move as they help breaking, lifetime discs, low dust, and performance enhancement via weight savings. WIN WIN WIN!! I just wished I could get the blue interior with Blue exterior. :(

I have the Carbons. Just hit 500 miles and got the oil changed so I haven't used them much. I did bump them once on the way back from the oil change and was very surprised at the stopping power. Looking forward to hitting them once or twice and see what they really do. I do agree, they look absolutely awesome. I added the storage shelf and the seat belt holders, nice tip. Thank you Sir. I have the door openers too but not sure I want to put them on the white car.

Drove the factory pads less than 2k miles and got so sick of the dust.. Put a set of Hawk ceramics front and rear on one evening and the dust problem ended. Great braking power at high speeds and perfect response at all lower speeds. Best upgrade other than ditching the factory tires.. Life is better when you pick and choose for yourself.

That seat belt slot is only supposed to be used for small people if they are under 4ft. 10 inches. It's in the manual. But that's OK, I love your videos.

I like the carbon ceramic brakes for all the reasons you said.The only drawback I see - they come with sponge wraps for the edges when the tires are changed because the edges can be chipped like a ceramic plate by a careless tech at a tire shop. That's a little scary. Know and trust people who change your tires.(I have a 2016 ZO6-with ZO7 package in Longbeach Red that you were kind enough to put on a video

I should get my car re-aligned for a better tire life as I will never track it, I did my C6 GS and front tire life doubled, how are your rotors wearing with the Hawk pads, my pads are still stock (yes dust is horrific) and at 4,800 mi there is a slight wear ridge noticeable with my fingernail on the rotor and I never break hard, I like the little shelf divider for behind the touch screen, keep up the good work !

I've got the carbon ceramic brakes and they are awesome. One thing I did notice though, right after a car wash, they are SLIPPERY. Have to be extra careful the first few miles. Strange, I know, but something I did notice for sure.

Dave did you do the 50 time break in? -You go 60mph slam on your breaks and then back up to 60mph and slam on the breaks and you do this 50 Times in a row. It’s tiring and the smell from the breaks and rotors are bad but this blends the two together and helps with this issue and squeaking.

As a matter of fact, I did NOT! Just got it a few weeks ago and now I'm just over the first 500 miles of engine break in time. Guess now it's time to break in the brakes. Thank you for the tip. Sounds like a fun little project for me this weekend.

I have a Corsa Xtreme cat back Camaro 2SS and it is simply the best sounding exhaust out there. I am gearing up to upgrade to either a C6 Grand Sport or a 14/15 C7 and either one of them will also get the Corsa Xtreme. Buddy put one on his 08 C6 and it sounds tasty as well. Minus is a bit nicer since his is just axle back. But much better than before. Liking your videos and subscribed and looking forward to watching more of them. Best of luck, and hopefully in the next 6 months I will get back in a Vette. Had a C4 but sold it when we had our first child.

got the Z07 package on my 2016 and i love the carbon brakes, get a ceramic coating or some other hydrophobic coating along with these brakes and the only cleaning i ever have to do is pressure wash off any dust. They work pretty well on the track too =P

I read that the seatbelt guide was only meant for shorter people. That it wasn’t designed for average sized people. Also the shelf looks like it would be hard to plug in the usb charging cable and it looks like items would be hard to remove with larger hands.

Yes sir, its just a pain but these stays come off really easy so if there is a smaller person in the seat it can be adjusted quickly. I just wish the guide was designed a little different.

My 2016 Z06 has the standard brakes. 15,000 miles and they are great. Haven't heard much good about the Ceramics, mostly not good for track days. But some say they are great. Tires are a different matter. Mine came with the Cup tires and not the Super Sports as listed on the build sticker. The outside of all 4 are bald. Can't keep the rear end straight under any heavy acceleration. Getting new tires next summer. Won't be the Cups, probably the Sport ZR from Michelin. Think I will get some of those seat belt helpers, lots of them on Ebay and Amazon. OU football pulled off a squeaker today. Always a good day when your team wins. I wonder if the new ZR1 codes will be on the price sheets at the end of November. Some say the C8 will be the mid-engine. I hope GM gets a mid-engine, but keeps the front engine for the Corvette, that way us old guys won't get priced out of the game. Have a great day and keep those videos coming. (Sorry about going on and on but there is no one here for me to talk cars with, oh, a Demon followed me about 2 miles the other day but turned off before we could get side by side.)

I'm jealous. I had to replace my metal/brembo front pads and rotors at 2,700 miles and only about 4 hours of track time. I always wondered what the difference in pad/rotor life on the CCBs vs regular Brembos. On a side note, I've only noticed a touch of green fade once and I'm pretty sure that was because I didn't bed the pads properly first.

Glenn K yeah you are suppose to accelerate 0 to 60 and slam on the brakes several times to properly set the brakes for track use.

Thanks for the vid.. I just got my first C-7 (2016 Z-51 coupe). I also bought the seat belt piece (drove Mama crazy) and the divider behind infotainment... smart and well made... I will be changing to ceramics.. put them on my C-6's. Look forward to your videos.. My front wheels chatter/skip on low speed turns, especially parking... is this also the alignment issue?

I love my ceramic breaks. However, before coming to a complete stop during a turn, it makes a humming sound. Car has 4k miles and the worn out breaks indicator turned on.

I had those seatbelt sleeve retainers, they suck, I took mine back off because my seatbelts kept getting jammed up and I would rather have them free.

I had a 350Z and the wheels kept getting dirty very quickly I thought it was a recall item, Nissan said nope, went to a auto parts store they said the same thing your saying chang pads to ceramic, and that work.

most of the problem with the brakes is the pads you're using, there is a trade off with the low dust break pads. Most people that track the car with CC switch to iron rotors. Did the dealer you have do the alignment have the tool to set caster on the rear? (most don't) Seems from the forums that's the biggest issue causing handling problems.

Watched them do it and yes wanted to film them doing it but they have a no camera policy in their shop area. You can ask 100 guys who track their cars if they would want metal or Carbon ceramic and you will get half saying metal other half swear by ceramic. Most forums you walk away more confused than before you started reading. Just my opinion I say go ceramic for all the benefits you get from not only just normal driving but that occasional track day.

I have been told by guys up in Wyoming and Kansas that see allot wind and dirt storms that they have had no issues. They give you foam protectors that you put on before you take the wheel off so if you hit the rotor it won't hurt anything.

The break fatigue is real on metal breaks in my experiences as well. Carbon ceramic get better the hotter they get.

Chuck, I'm shopping for a c7 grand sport 3lt with red interior. What is your review on the Dashboard reflection in the windshield on the diver side? I'm reading reviews online and the sales guy also mentioned that coloured 3lt packages have lots of complaints about the dashboard reflection, especially if it's sunny. Please advise.

My front windshield is tinted to 35% so I don't have any issues. I had tint done when I first got the car so I don't really know about the glare issue. I haven't heard anyone say anything about it at the corvette events I go to. That is an interesting question. I will ask around.

Hawks are what I used. cuts down about 70 of that dust and what it does produce is very fine wipes away easy unlike OEM.

Hey Chuck, great info. You had a vlog on replacing the pads to (Hawk) ceramic if we have non-ceramic brakes from the factory. Much less expensive than going with the $7500 factory option. What are your thoughts on both? My main concern is eliminating as much brake dust as possible. Thanks!!

The Hawks pads on the metal rotors are a good work around but if you want zero break dust the carbon ceramics leave nearly none at all. I have friends who have them and they going a drive with me and when we are done I look at theirs and its like they haven't went anywhere.

I had the seat belt clips and the storage shelf in my box of Vette goodies waiting to install while my GS was being built. High quality items from a company that "gets it."
