When I was 17 there was a kid who lived across the road from me, he was 12 years old. He was the youngest of 10 kids, he was dyslectic and had the worst stutter ever! His school didn't know what to do with him so they ignored him, when he went home his family ignored him. The day when I found out he couldn't read or write I waited at the end of the street for him after school and brought him to my family's home. His stutter was so bad it would sometimes take ten minutes to say one word. Over the next five years I taught him the a,b,c's then how to read and write and then maths. When he was reading his stutter used to upset him so much but I never finished his sentences for him (he hated that the most). On his 17th Birthday I took him lap dancing on a Tuesday night when the place would be empty and all the girls fawned over him which gave him loads of confidence. After that I never saw him again, I moved to the other side of the country. That was over 20 years ago. A couple of years ago I was talking to my mother and she said, do you remember Alan? I said the kid that couldn't talk? She said she bumped into him and got talking. I asked how was he doing? My mother told me that he owns his own business he's married with 3 children and that he named his first born son after me. So Alan, my man. Where ever you are, I told you you could do it ;)

That's because you don't know if something you did was kind to someone because it evokes feelings to the receiver, but the giver doesn't feel anything. Sometimes, the simplest things are the kindest things in life, but in the same way, sometimes the actions that take so much effort would never mean anything to anyone.

Exactly what I was thinking. I am trying to spread as much kindness as I can in my life, and I hope there is at least one person whom I helped, for whom I made a difference. If there is, then I know I've done something right in life, and that it has a purpose. But I don't know how I've affected the lives of other people, so I can't really tell what the "kindest" thing was... :)

When I was about nine I was shopping with my mom and my sister. My mom told me to get a shopping cart and when I got one, I saw an old man with arm crutches trying to get a cart as well. I didn't think about what I was doing, but I knew it was right to give that man the cart I had. He said thank you, I got a different one and went back to my mom. We took a few steps into the door, and the old man came up to my mother and said, "is she your daughter?" While pointing to me. My mom said yes, and he said, "she just gave me a cart, and I wanted to compliment how kind she is." That moment still makes me smile.

One time I was driving out of target and I saw a homeless man with boxes covering his body. Like he was laying on the floor trying to get comfortable using boxes as a blanket. I immediately pictured myself warm in bed with all of the blankets I “have to” have and then my heart broke. I turned around, went right back into target and bought this guy a comforter. I was nervous to get his attention but finally called him over. To my surprise, he was in his 20’s like me. When I handed him the blanket, his face was a little bit in shock, like surprised someone would do this for him; while I was surprised someone hadn’t already. I will never forget this moment because I realized that it’s not always the exact thing you do for someone, but just to show you care is enough ❤️ I wish I could go back and tell him it’s going to be okay, but I hope my actions showed that enough.

I think we have good and bad inside of us since we are babies. Think that a baby is selfish and already developes that "dark" side when it comes to his relationship with his mother but also feels love for her. The thing is that we all need to learn how to canalyze those shadows as we grow up and having gone trough the first years in a healthy way in orden to become good human beings that can feel sympathy and therefore be kind to each other

I genuinely do a lot of nice things for people just out of the kindness of my heart but one time (about 3 months after I met my best friend) he called me at 11:45 at night begging me to help him do an essay that he forgot about. It was due at 12:00 midnight and he didn’t know how to write it himself because English wasn’t his best subject. And without thinking I jumped out of my bed and typed as fast as I could working with him to finish it. We finished right on time. And he told me that night that I was such a blessing in his life that no one had ever gone out of their way to help him like I did. And that’s when we became best friends. Before highschool I never had any real friends that genuinely liked me. So I swore when I found some that I’d be the best friend possible. So I make it a point to go out of my way to help people that mean the most to me.

There’s a professor in my university that’s in a wheelchair, so I would help him get his stuff and himself to his next classroom and open the door for him. And one day was raining and I held an umbrella for him so he could get to his car that was far. (He amazingly drives) Every time I see him struggling to get to his classroom I go and help him. It’s really sad that people walk past him when he clearly struggles to go to the classrooms with his laptop and papers on his lap. Also, (damn I’m talking too much) one day he was saying that on an earthquake there’s no exit emergency on his office building so he wouldn’t be able to leave and that broke my heart. I cried and cried and cried. If an earthquake happens and I’m in his classroom I would never leave knowing he’s not able to escape. In a earthquake practice day I was in his classroom and I got him to the “safe area”. Wasn’t going to leave him behind.

Walked back and forth through my neighborhood alone, and very angry since no one in my family cared to help, to search for a cat with a broken leg to take her to the vet and fully pay for her surgery. I found her, she got her surgery, and she ended up going to a shelter. ❤️

Here's a wholesome story: The year before, my sister and I were recovering from our parents' nasty divorce. Both my sister and I had low self-worth and severe depression. (This is a good time to mention that my sister has Asperger's and made life unimaginably hard). To help her feel better, I invited her to join the school's Cross Country team. She was never really into sports, but I just thought it was a good opportunity to help surround her with motivation. I REALLY care about her, she's such an amazing individual and all I wanted to do was watch her train and succeed. The second-to-last race of the season, I caught a nasty stomach bug so I had to watch my sister run a rare afterschool race. However, our team and I became worried when my sister never came out of the forest section. I was sent into the forest and a few minutes in, I found her walking on her own crying. She claims that she was too slow and she lost the rest of the runners- she became scared and didn't want to get further lost so she stopped running and tried to head back. We must have taken a wrong turn because we ended up continuing forward until we came out of the forest with the goal under a mile away. I encouraged her to run and finish, but she was embarrassed and kept proclaiming she was a failure. Because I had my inspection shoes on, and I couldn't risk getting them damaged, I decided to take them off and volunteered to run with her to the end (this was an extremely short-sighted decision). By running with her, she gained enough motivation to continue to the end. We both ran, and ran, and ran some more. Here in Florida, the grasses are absolutely COVERED in spikey seeds which are similar to running on cacti. I ended up slowing down and tumbling near the end because of the pain, I looked down to see my socks torn and my feet covered with blood and needles. Luckily, I peeked my head up at the final moment to see my sister powering through, sprinting the last 100m as she broke the finish line with the crowds poured into the track to congratulate her, the entire stadium erupting in cheer. On the ground, I started crying and a few people had helped me up. They asked why I was crying- if it was the pain in my feet or..? I remember saying something along the lines of: "No, I'm just really proud of my sister." If it wasn't amazing enough to see my sister finish the race, she ended up placing 4th in the final race of the season, earning an award. In the end, I can't say enough how proud I am for her overcoming her fears and showing herself what she's capable of. I lost track of what I was going to originally type, but I hope you enjoyed the story.

I buy my friend breakfast everyday that I can because her mom doesn’t feed her I also volunteer 2 hours a week to help cats with Leukemia because feline leukemia is contagious and a lot of cat owners even at the shelter are scared to get close to them because they could get their cats infected. I had to think for a while that these were kind things that I did because it just makes me happy to do it I guess... thanks for making this video so much

i invited my bf to stay at my house one night before we began dating, because his parents kicked him out and he was gonna sleep on the streets. i also helped him deal with his depression and i stopped him from killing himself multiple times. i also helped my friend with their depression and i remember one day getting a call in the middle of my class, and my friend kept listing ways to die. so i talked to them on the phone for like 30 minutes until they hung up. so i took a bus and went over to their house, but there was no one there. so i called them and sent messages but no reply. until like 2 days later they messaged me telling that they were fine. that was scary as frek, but thinking about it now, i feel honoured to be the person they chose to call in a time like this

I was in my room in my landlord's house and I heard something downstairs. I went to check out what was happening and my landlord was flat on the floor breathing heavily. He was an elder and a war veteran. I think he was having an episode of panic because of his memories there. I helped him get of the floor, brought him a glass of water and made sure that he was okay. He thanked me for being there at the right time.

One recent thing for me was I was at the store actually leaving, I'm sitting in my car and it starts raining down SUPER heavy out of NO WHERE and I saw this woman in a motorized cart type thing trying to put her groceries away and was getting soaked so I grabbed my tiny umbrella (it was too small for the two of us) and I held it over her the entire time while I stood in the rain and helped put her groceries in her trunk and closed it...I did this all the way until she closed the door of her car and waved goodbye, she was such a sweet older lady😊I was freezing cold when I got back in my car, but I didn't mind much at all😅

Not me but my dad. When I was probably around 9 years old, we were walking into a McDonald's close to our house. On our way to the door, a man ran up to us and asked for some money. He quickly said he was a veteran and my dad, who was also a veteran, invited him into the McDonald's. My dad bought him everything he asked for from the menu and he spent the next 20 minutes listening to the man tell his story. I never saw the guy again, but that always stuck with me. You never know how a simple act of kindness can change your complete view of the world.

So I went to coles for groceries with my mum (I was 8-10ish) there was a lady in a wheelchair struggling to reach the milk. So without hesitation, I climb on the shelves to reach the produce (I was/still am a midget) and the lady said thankyou and turned around to my mum and said “good job with this one”. Mum bought me a chocolate milk and told me how proud she was of me. To this day that made me really happy. I have another one where a friend confided in me and talked about her depression and how she had suicidal thoughts. We talked for hours (it was a sleepover) and she ended up crying and thanking me for letting her confide in me because she’s never done this before. We made a pact where if we ever wanted to kill/hurt ourselves we would text each other (because I had depression too so Yeet). A few weeks later I got a text from her saying she wanted to hurt herself. I talked her out of it. I also fed the poor and returned a wallet I found in the bathroom (I was 8ish) to the woman who lost it.

I gave up 2 years of my life to care for my grandmother with Parkinson's disease. I was around 20 years old. I wasnt paid for it, and she needed 247 care. I had no experience and after agreeing to do it for the month my dad was going to complete rehab, he passed away a few months later and caring for her fell on my shoulders until her death. I will never feel like I did enough for her, and I cant think of her long enough before I very emotional. I miss you, grandma. and I love you.

Sometime last year, I was in line at a convenience store to buy some food. An elderly lady had asked me if I could spare a dime, and I gave her one. When I left the store, she was standing there asking me for one more favor. I obliged and she said she needed help stepping off the curb because she was afraid she was going to fall over. She explained that she recently left the hospital and had something similar to tremors. She gripped my arm for support and in a couple seconds she made it. She said she was afraid of asking people for help because she wouldn't know how they would react to her situation. I replied that I found most people friendly and willing to help. She didn't think so. I hope that after our ephemeral encounter, she's reached out to others for help. I've found the one thing that people most want in life is to help others in some shape or form and to feel they have made a difference, small or big, and experience compassion.

I stayed on the phone almost every night till the early morning for a year with my friend bc she had really depressive thoughts late at night. So I would tell jokes, say stupid things and sing to her until she fell asleep smiling. I know it isn't much but she told me 2 years ago that I saved her life. Kindness and good deeds are something I strive to do daily. Holding a door, smiling, being there when someone needs to vent, donate to charity, volunteer at a retirement center, paying for meals or groceries or gas, helping lost pets find their homes, babysitting, raising funds for a kids who had cancer, helping a family at christmas, and I could go on. I don't mention these things to brag or because I think I'm an amazing person. I do because some of these things are so simple and could change someones day or even their lives. If someone ask you this question you should have a hard time answering because you try to make the world a better place through kindness and have so many kind things to pick from. Knowing you have helped someone, even a little, is so rewarding and leads to other acts of kindness. It's amazing

My sister and I are very close and two years ago we went to Canada together, where we spent 10 days exploring Toronto and after that time, she was gonna live with a host family for 6 more weeks while I would return home. And my sister is very shy so she was very devastated when it was almost time for me to leave. And I felt bad to leave her because I knew she felt bad. So one evening I went with her to meet the host family and then I had the idea to ask the host mum if she knew anyone in the neighbourhood that had a dog, because she love love loooves dogs and I knew that „having“ a dog during the time she‘s on her own would help her be more confident and feel good. And turns out there was an elderly couple living across the street with a little dog called Maddie. So when I was home, my sister got introduced to the couple and Maddie and ended up spending almost every evening there, taking the dog for a walk and developping a great relationship with the couple during these six weeks. And in the end she was able to have a great experience. And I was so happy that even when she was an ocean away, I was able to help her out with having a great time ❤️

I think the kindest thing I’ve ever done for someone is that I sent all of the girls on my soccer team a text message. But, it wasn’t any other text message. I know that at least one of the girls on my team was struggling with herself. She was always silly and happy, but I knew that she was struggling. She thinks that she is ugly, which is absolutely false. She also thinks that she’s dumb, because math isn’t her best subject, but she’s not dumb! It makes me so mad, because she’s actually so smart. I didn’t know if others were going through this too, and to the day I have no idea, but I sent them all a text. I basically said that I don’t know what they’re going through, and I may never know, but I wanted them to know that they were perfect, beautiful, and smart. I wanted them to know that they were loved, that I loved them and cared deeply about them, and that I loved them no matter what. Only a few of them responded, but I feel like a really touched them. That makes me very proud of myself to this day.

I have...a couple good ones that I can't choose from. I had this art teacher who really judged her students based on how hard they tried rather than how good their work was. By skills, I was the worst student in her class by far, but I tried harder than anyone else. I just physically couldn't do it thanks to my having autism- my hand-eye coordination and handwriting are messed up quite a lot. Despite that, she was continually patient and helpful with me, because I always listened and worked hard while most of the students just didn't want to do the work. She was kind and lenient, she bought supplies with her own money, brought in treats when the class did well (and sometimes when they didn't) but everyone seemed to hate her anyways just because she was tough on students who refused to try. At the end of my time in the school (and third year in her class), I gave gifts to all my teachers, as was a running tradition of mine (for Christmas and the end of the year I'd get my teachers gift cards and a thank-you cars). I don't remember how much money I gave her, but it was the most I'd given to a teacher. I wrote her a letter thanking her for everything, for all the time and effort and patience she'd given me, for personally inviting me to take her most advanced class even though I couldn't keep up no matter how hard I tried. I gave it to her on the way out the door, not on my last day but close to it. The next day, when I saw her, I remember she cried. She told me she'd shown that letter to her family, and they'd told her to thank me as well. It seemed like it meant a lot to her. I also remember, during that class, some of our projects were pretty big. They lasted sometimes a month or even longer, especially for me who needed extra time because I couldn't actually keep up. There was one project that we did for mother's day, drawing flowers in a vase on a huge piece of paper. For a solid month, every school day, I worked my arse off on that project. I redrew lines dozens of times, colored and shaded and blended like I never knew I even could. There were days when I couldn't work my hand right after that class was over because I worked so hard on that project. All that, just so I could give it to my mom. There was another one like that, just as big and difficult, that I also gave to her, just because I loved her and I wanted her to have it, and on both, I wanted them to be as perfect as I could make them (which wasn't very), all for her. Lastly, my granddad. He is blind and a stubborn person, who won't be swayed on anything. There was a massive problem with his leg, but he wanted to go travelling anyway, even when told that he could lose his leg. I busted out my best acting skills and cried like a three-year-old, begging him to consider his own safety until he relented and stayed in the hospital like he needed to. He recovered completely and was able to still make the second part of his trip.

I work for child services and got a call from a distraught parent. I just stayed on the phone and listened to him and gave him the numbers he needed. But he just started crying and thanking me because he couldn't get a straight answer from anyone. 😞 Broke my heart.

I try to be the best friend i can be, so i listen a lot. I know this is probably the kindest thing i did because i recently got a call in the middle of the night from an ex of mine (we used to be best friends before we got together, she dumped me in a not so kind way), we haven't talked to met in 2 years, until that random call, she said she's having one of her bad episodes, she tried so hard to deal with it but she just couldn't, and right before she hurts herself she remembered her promise to call me if she finds herself in that situation, so she did, 2 hours and many tears later she said the reason she called me was because i was the kindest person to her, even when she wasn't kind towards me, she said she couldn't stand the thought of any other human and i was the only one on her mind, she was scared i'd reject her or even laugh at her pain, but she knew i would never do that. So 2 years later, i put my depressed lil self aside to make sure she's alright.

I was a witness to a car running over a teenager on a bike, i was the only one to call for an ambulance and i was the only one to stay the entire time to make sure he went to the hospital okay. Never learned his name, i stayed on the other side of the street, but i’ll never forget him.

my couple are - I'm a stage actress, and the theater I perform in is 860 seats with 7 exits. It's one big room, so it's generally easy to find your way out, but this elderly home came to see our show. And I wandered back into the auditorium to put my mic away and there was this old lady wandering around, so I linked arms with her and helped her outside to where her bus was waiting. Apparently she'd gotten separated from the group and they couldn't find her. - I've struggled with depression and self harm since I was eleven, and when I was thirteen (the height of my struggle with self harm), I went to a Halloween store to pick out a costume, and the woman who gave me my dressing room had these thick scars all over her arms. I have really bad social anxiety, but I walked up to her and said, "I saw your scars, and I just wanted to let you know that you're not alone." And she teared up and said, "Can I have a hug?" And I hugged her. It's probably the only thing keeping me from believing that there is no good in me. - When I was a sophomore in high school, there was this eighth grader auditioning for the show I was in. And she got on stage and started shaking and just ran out, and I chased her and helped her through a panic attack and got her back on stage to finish her audition. She ended up quitting the show due to stage fright, but she stayed on crew. Later on she said I was the reason she stuck through theater. - Similarly, in sophomore year, I had this girl in my class that I didn't know too well. She came in looking upset and I went to her. Turns out her boyfriend had just dumped her and she was on the verge of a panic attack. I managed to talk her down, helping her cope with my own coping mechanisms, like breathing exercises and distracting stuff. And I hugged her. We ended up getting really close and we were hanging out with my best friend, the guy she liked, and she held my hand and said, "I wouldn't be here without you. You make me feel safe."

Some old lady was pushing a cart of old papers and cardboard, and it trip over. I was nearby and help her pick up the cardboards that's littered across the road, I'm not sure when the next car will pass by, so I help her as quickly as possible. My friend was also impatiently waiting for me, but I still help her place everything back properly before meeting my friend. What I get in return is her stareing at me like I cause her cart to fall. To me the kindest thing I've ever done would be to save a life. I was in 5th grade and this girl who never really had friends was told to sit next to me in class. She still played with toys and had a childish nature. We talked and I got to know her. After awhile I learned that she suffered from depression. There were many times where she tried to kill herself. It was when I learned that, that I became aware that I was her lifeline. I was her only friend. Wasn't longer after that my problems got too big for me and I got depression. She helped me get through it. We were both suffering but we still carried each other through it. The day I got out of that dark place she followed behind me. We're friends to this very day.

The nicest thing I’ve ever done I was at McDonald’s and over heard a man tell his daughter he didn’t have enough to buy their meal, so I bought it for them. I know it was the nicest thing because not too long ago someone did the same for me and my daughter. I had no idea how to respond but when I got to my car I cried my eyes out because of his nice gesture.

i used to talk to this guy in high school who was in my math class, at some point it was brought up that his birthday is on halloween. that halloween i ended up making cupcakes and decided to bring 1 to school for him, remembering it was his birthday. he was grateful, in a shy way. a while after i found out that he was going to kill himself that day. he had struggled with depression for a long time and had made up his mind that his birthday was the day to end his life. my cupcake isn't the only reason he decided not to, but if it played even the smallest part in him not going through with it, i am so happy. i think about that a lot and it still blows my mind. i try to do small, kind things as much as possible for people despite my struggles with anxiety.
