In today's surprise video release, we are taking you along for a day of thrifting in a nearby town! We decided to do something different and travel a couple of hours to see what kind of gems Sioux City, Iowa has lying around. Well... little did we know, not much lol! But we came away with a chair project and some great looking hardware that was cheap as can be. You probably made a good choice as far as a reseller but I'm really into vintage and antiques so my house is full of that sorta stuff. Not everyone's cup of tea, but those chairs just felt unique and really cool to me.

Chalk paint the fabric. It can be done - water it down and wax when dry.

For hardcore vintage furniture folks, those floral chairs could be the statement pieces they are waiting for. Your goal is to flip pieces, so I totally get why you might pass on them...they might sit a bit longer waiting on a new owner. In my family, we name all of our cars...are you going to name the truck? I don't know if anyone has suggested this, but when you are redoing wood pieces, if the holes don't match up for the hardware, drill into them. Stick a dowel with glue in it. When it's dry, cut it off flush and you can drill new holes.

I just told my husband I don’t feel so bad now we drove two hours for a free couch that was a no go so we hit a garage sale a took home three nice pieces for$180. But the restore in that town was closed because of the riots 😢. So I was feeling let down but I feel better now. Thank you for your content it’s great stuff!! In case you don't know...your brass drawer pulls and knobs you can make them shine. Rub ketchup on them look on line. I redone a piece of furniture that was in a fire.It was absolutely beautiful when I finished it

Girl ,,, I have been binging your videos. I absolutely LOVE what you do. My daughter is a teacher and has student debt as well. I know that dry erase marker can dissolve permanent marker on hard surfaces. Since you ripp skirts off chairs try marking on the skirts with permeant marker. then try scribbling over it with dry erase then see if it will clean up with your upholstery cleaner. Just a thought.

We started furniture flipping ourselves now..You have been such a inspiration!!!! We've been using chalk paint and sanding down the top all the way down to the natural wood and then doing some epoxy finish to really gloss, shine, and show off the natural grain of the hardwood..Thanks for everything you do..You help more people than you know :)

@@CassieDavis613 my daughter has it on her fb page and is trying to learn how to upload and do all that stuff on KZbin.I think she's considering to make a youtube.We love this furniture flipping stuff.The coffe table project is going to have chalk paint where its like a navy blue/gray color but shes going to do something called a ombre effect where its going to blend and become darker on the bottom where it turns black once you reach the feet and then expoy clear gloss showing the wood grain..it's neat and the wood grain looks very stand out and complementary to the color on the base.

Velvet furniture can actually be dyed or painted quite nicely. If you got those first chairs you could certainly dye them black or maybe even another dark colour. Just an idea for chairs that are in good shape but have a pattern that'd be tough to sell.

Since you were going to remove the metal glide/rocker and put on legs instead, you could remove the extra boards that supported the mechanism, giving a smoother frame bottom.

How about spraying sticky glue stuff and then put batting on the edge to round and soften the bottom corners then wrap the skirt up under but looking forward to seeing it transformed and yaiiii!!! converting a rocker into a stationary chair. And the truck is great and when you get even more busy you can pull a small closed trailer.. :) flipping furniture is in your blood and when your debt is paid off I'm pretty sure you'll keep doing it !!

There is a product at Hobby Lobby. You can find it in the sewing department. Its called Grandmas secret spot remover. It can also be found in other stores. It WORKS WONDERS!!! I had a very pricey dress taken to the cleaners for mud. They couldn't get it clean. This product did the trick. I have even gotten blood and wine out.

I got one of those midcentury chairs and its been such a pain! I got it for free off Facebook marketplace and felt too awkward not to take it since the owner was standing in his garage watching me. It is so heavy I can barely move it around on my own, there is many scratches, missing chunks of fabric, has many stains, it was covered in dust, and was not smoke free pet free like they said. It is also a swivel rocker recliner - which is kind of cool - but has a big wooden base that is half stained half unstained. I was considering adding some midcentury legs and removing the base but that might mess up the balance of the reclining portion. Hopefully I am able to finish it up tomorrow and can sell it for at least $50 within the next few weeks so I can post the video of it to my channel and never have to look at it again.

I love your drive, you repurpose into some beautiful furniture! I have a suggestion after watching you walk away from those floral chairs. Why not paint the floral upholstery? Check out Debi’s Design Diary, she has a segment on “How to paint upholstery, keep it soft and velvety. I think the 2 floral chairs and the ottoman would have been a profitable set for you. The gray chair turned out great!

Cheap hairspray (Aqua Net) will take out permanent marker or ink pen. Spray it on heavily and let it sit for about 10 minutes then scrub with soap and water

Its the alcohol in hair spray that works on the ink so I use straight alcohol. Also WD-40 removes permanent marker ink too.

You really gotta try painting velvet furniture with Debbies DIY paint. I know I’ve mentioned it before in another video but you could fix up some amazing pieces that have imperfections like stains and marker spots. Yes, buy the ugly florals if cheap enough and just give it a go! A nice jewel tone like navy or emerald green. Like you said, even if it doesn’t work you haven’t lost a lot. Maybe try a bit of chalk paint on one of the skirts you have ripped off other chairs?

If you water down the paint and work it in the fabric you are dyeing it more so than painting it. Seal in the color with a wax and it makes the furniture like a soft leather. DIY Danie did this on a chair that belongs to her mom and it turned out beautiful! It looked like a piece you over paid for at article

Congrats on the truck! It’s beautiful! I didn’t know you were in Omaha. My husband and I are from there but moved to MN 2 years ago with his job. There is a place at 72nd and blondo, just west of 72nd that has furniture sometimes. I used to always go there for picture frames. They usually don’t have much furniture but they put out new stuff daily. If ya catch it at the right time you could find some gems! That’s if they are still open! Haha!
