I work at a Benz dealership. I'll tell you now, if I had the money for a new E63, I'd buy the W212 and fix it up. That's not to say I don't like the new E63 Biturbo V8 model, but the older car feels so raw, and that's what I like in a performance car.

Been driving my 2009 SL63AMG Since the day I bought it. 94,000 Miles, tires cost a lot, but other than regular maintenance, only $4,000 has been spent in 11 years for broken parts. I change the oil every 6,000 miles, but it was a great investment, $135,000 in 2009, and when I get gas, people still think it's a $135,000 car. I won't sell it for $50,000, I just love it that much. The M156 motor is the last of the great V8's. I will never again be able to buy a 550 HP NA V8 Motor, that sounds like a 427 Cobra, with MB SL Quality.

I bought my 2010 E63 in 2014 with 34,000 miles. I crossed 60,000 in November 2021. It’s a wonderful car, everything you want: great around town, great on the highway. And I like the look of it more than I do the new E cars. I’m just hoping that the head bolts hang in there-that was a problem with this engine.

Reading the comments brought tears to my eyes. The W212 E 63 is ever so graceful and endulges with the true essence of it's heritage. The 2010 AMG has aged SUPERBLY!! This generation of Mercedez came with a bang!! The proof is in the pudding, and the proof is in the 6.2 V8's!!!! Can we even talk about the design language... I mean man... this car has aged SO WELL!!!! This is inclusive of its group!! I wish I could take it back to 2010 when that older generation was the state of the art. That N/A engine and it's raw sound is just eye catching!! 🥲🥲 What a marvel and being able to understand and be apart of the generational change, but I will stay stuck in the 2010 gen!! It seems that over the two years I’ve been watching Throttle House, the commentary has gotten better and better. More descriptive. More intelligent and relatable. There’s both the perspective of someone who is incredibly familiar and competent and familiar with high performance mixed in with the common average guy. W212 design is ageless and in my eyes superior to any of the latter MBs. The engine (AMG version) sounds superb as well and interior is pretty classic. Could afford either of these and would still pick the older one. The new one has a beautiful front (reminds me of the modern version of SLK300 which according to many is the most beautiful MB ever designed) but somehow looks like a soap box, so I doubt it will stand the test of time like W212.

@M1ATA56 AMG m156 was only in the w212 for 2006-2011 and only 1 year they got it right. It was a poorly designed engine because in 2012 and onward they used the m157 and kept the 63 badge. The cams wear out way too fast on these cars no matter the year of engine which will cause lifter issues. Sounds amazing but again poorly designed. W212 e550 carrying the m278 with a tune would blow the doors off the 06-10 AMG. And ya I agree with you, pre facelift all the way. W222,w213,and w205 all look the same it's a shame

I will forever say that 2011-2015 is the best years for modern Mercedes. Mix of great roaring N/A V8s and the intro of the amazing, better sounding (than the 4.0L) 5.5L twin turbo v8, and the great fun of throwing them around with that raw feeling of machinery, instead of a bunch of computers controller the cars. Cars in that era had personality

Just found the channel....Love your attitude and relaxed way. I drive an 2012 Mercedes E 350CDI. 265hp, 620nm. It have driven 575.000km or about 357.000 miles. One owner before me, all service by Mercedes. Full black leather, ergonomic seats, BiXenon lights, Keyless Go, Ligatronic and lots lots more. Enigine and transmission is never been repaired or modified in any way. Still going strong. Bought at a local Mercedes dealer for 90.000 DKK or about 14.5000 USD... Now I want an W212 AMG...

After a couple of hours work it now does not creek at all. I know it is not an AMG, however probably it is enough for me and gas is not a cheap thing in this country.

I have a 2006 e55 renntech, and yes I did spend half the price of the car on maintenance over a 3 month period but I just absolutely adore it and I just don’t like the 4.0 the new cars, I love the character of older amg cars. Would struggle to want a new amg if I wasn’t leasing it 🤷‍♂️

14:32 - the new E63 doesn't have a dual-clutch. It's a wet-clutch automatic (no torque converter).

It is a dual clutch. The wet clutch takes the place of the torque converter.

As a 2010 E63 owner, and a retired Mercedes repair specialist, I can easily say that the W212 pre-facelift E63 is possibly the greatest car you can actually daily ever made...just be prepared to live with 14 mog combined (i can assure you it's bloody worth it in a way no other car I have ever driven could ever possibly justify)

GREAT REVIEW!! I wouldn’t be surprised if the interior creaking and squeaking of the older E63 may be due to the glass roof. I have a 2015 E550 and had drop the headliner to tighten the screws attached to the glass roof. It’s a common problem with the W212 E Class and Mercedes-Benz is aware of the problem. MB simply didn’t put lock-tight on the screws and the come lose over time especially if the car is driven in sport most of the time as the ride is noticeably stiffer.

Should’ve put in a 2014 E63s compared to the E63s W213. 2012-16 has a 5.5L Bi-Turbo V8 but 14-16 is the FL model which looks amazing and 4matic.

MB totally cheaped out on the rear brakes on the new E63, the old had 4 piston fixed callipers and the new has single piston floating. And yes 60% of the braking is on the front wheels but the rear 4 pots look way better

That Mercedes from 2010, the W212, is the last real Mercedes. The newer they are, the uglier they are and they all resemble each other.

I disagree. The w213 e63s is the most beautiful. Perfect balance of elegance and sporty muscle. 2015-2019 was peak Mercedes styling

My dream E class is the W212 pre-facelift E63 with the 5.5 bored to 5.8 and tuned by GAD. That there is E class perfection.
