I work as a tech at a GMC dealership, and we got out first shipment of Hummer EVs around 2 weeks ago. I think the biggest problem with the Hummer is the fact that someone bought one, and is already trying to resell it for $300,000 on the secondary market. Once they become a reasonably available, I think they’ll be great. But unless you already got one, there’s no shot you’ll ever get one at a reasonable price.

This. You could EASILY break like 150mph in this thing fully unleashed, but it would become just about the most dangerous & difficult to drive vehicle possible at those kinds of speeds... Driving this thing over ≈105mph is basically suicidal behavior. The chances for a serious accident in a car THAT ridiculously huge & heavy at THOSE kinds of speeds are almost a damn guarantee, and with a car that massive is also basically a guarantee you won't be the only car involved in said accident...

The tires are a big thing on this because if those knobbies would be replace with summer rubber for asphalt not just the 0-60 time will drop and the range will improve a bit because of smoother resistance while rolling but then the off-road ability of this EV- will be sacrificed affected.. so i reckon those who want a street version should wait for SUV version and those who want off-road adventure should get this pick-up.. for example if i would have to choose between Tesla x, Rivian and GMC Hummer ev, i would really choose this..

It's hard to see how all the comparisons with pickup trucks and SUVs hold water. This is a different ballpark. Tesla is experiencing recalls every week now and they will never break into the truck market with their wierd minecraft looking design.
@tuurschellekens53852 жыл бұрын
@@Slayer-xi7pu It's clear you don't like the Cybertruck or Tesla in general, but that doesn't mean you should straight up lie or spread bullshit. First off, Cybertruck probably will enter production very soon, Q1 2023 or earlier. Pre orders show that there are more people interested in the cybertruck than in the F150 Lightning and Rivian. Also Rivian and Ford too have massive struggles ramping production and can't even expand production because they are battery constrained. Rivian won't 4680 cells anytime soon, that would mean redesigning the entire pack, while they can't even produce the current R1T in large number, investors won't like that. And how exactly will Rivian offer more range in the R1T than the cybertruck with the same 4680 battery cells? I don't know for sure but the Cybertruck is more aerodynamic and Tesla is known for leading efficiency. Tesla build quality is only improving and we will see that with the new Model Y's coming out of Berlin and Austin. No EV tax credit doesn't matter at all, considering Tesla's production capacity is already booked full this year and will be for many years. Supercruise is shit compared to Autopilot and even FSD, even if it isn't ready, and SC is only available on pre-mapped roads. Tesla' isnt experiencing recalls every week, cut the crap. Other OEMs are experiencing way more, and way more dangerous recalls than Tesla.

@@dzello This is absolute fucking nonsense... Nobody would parallel park from a direct horizontal position even if you COULD make the tires go completely sideways. You ALWAYS want to approach the parking spot from at LEAST slightly in front or behind the car so you can FAR more easily see and line up to the bumpers of the other cars parked in front & behind you. Aka the crab walk even with its turning radius limitations is absolutely PERFECT for vastly reducing the difficulty to parallel or curbside park.
@dzello2 жыл бұрын
@@Cooe. That's a lot of words just to be wrong across the board. The ideal way to parallel park would indeed be a system where your wheels can go sideways because you'd just line up with the car in front and slide in. The crab walk is awful to parallel park because it doesn't turn the vehicle so it will ram the car into the corners of the parked cars. Think more, type less.

My 1989 Honda Prelude 2.0Si 4WS had crab walk 30+ years ago. It was completely mechanical. You turn the wheel slightly and the wheels would go in the same direction. Then, at a certain point, the rear wheels would reverse and go the opposite way. It took some getting used to, but it was the best parking lot car I’ve ever had and that includes my Del Sol which was smaller.

What is interesting is that we are still in the very beginning of electric vehicle development. 10 years from now things are going to be much more impressive. Technology like this is rapidly developing and when solid state batteries come out, in about 5 years likely, it's going to be a game changer. Lower weight, more range, faster charging.......yeah, this thing will seem like a dinosaur.
@Xenon00000000000012 жыл бұрын
I'm not so sure. A Tesla from 5 years ago isn't so different from a Tesla today. You have to remember that electric motors and batteries have been under constant development for over 100 years (even Li-ion batteries have been around for 30 years). It's possible that some new tech, like solid state batteries, will come along and be a game changer, but it's far from guaranteed. My bet is that in the next 5 years the number of charging stations will explode, the choice of EVs will be much larger, but we'll only see slight improvements in range and efficiency.

@@Xenon0000000000001 Batteries were never developed to be car specific, and they still aren't. If the market pours into EV's and if EV companies line the pockets of politicians as much as the gas companies have done, you could definitely, at minimum, double the efficiency in 10 years. After all, it is only about a hundred years ago that 2 dudes flew a plane at 30 mph and nowadays we're flying nearly mach 7 and have rockets that land.
