I'm a ThruNite fan and have several. All have worked flawlessly! I bought this one for two reasons. One is it's rechargeable. In the wilderness where I go I'll always have a charger for the phone so I'm covered in the event I lose or forget batteries. The other is our usual flashlight competition at the hunt camp to see who has the brightest light. I won two years in a row with my old tn12. Last year I lost by a hair to another light one of the guys had. I can't wait to get up there for the spring fishing trip and put the tc15 on turbo when my buddy thinks he's won again! I can't wait!!! Good review!

Good review. I live in the country and bought one of these a couple of weeks ago for dog walking in the early morning hours. I usually use the high setting to light up the road that we are walking on. This morning while walking, I saw that the indicator light was on red. I reduced the light to the medium level and the indicator turned blue again. That tells me that if you are getting low on a charge, you can reduce the intensity to keep the light going. That is a great and maybe overlooked feature.

This is a really good value to start with. $45.00 for a 2000/1050 lumen light that comes with it's own holster and an OK 3100mAh 18650, and is usb rechargeable as well? Oh yes... a very good deal. I'm sure you could probably bump the battery up to 3400mAh without issues as well. Thanks for sharing Tim.

Lithium ion wholesale has a really good batteries 3500mAh & 10amp discharge rating $8 or so... just doesn't say thrunite on it, I think it's the same battery they use just relabel it

Great review. A great powerful EDC light and Thrunite throws in the 18650 3100 mah battery with the package. In fact, they have become so popular that they are currently unavailable at Amazon.

Thanks - and good to know about that Amazon info.

Do either of you know what’s going on with the TN15 now? It’s only available on Thrunite’s website and on Ebay now: it’s been removed everywhere else.

I got one of these in the mail today. I generally carry a Zebralight SC64w which is about an inch shorter, but still puts out 1300 lumens. Reason I still like the Zebralight, is because it's MUCH easier to find the power button. I generally have gloves on and the power switch on the TC15 is hard to find. But, again, I just got it today. So, we'll see. I do like the built in charger port. But, that can also be a weak point for water eventually.

IMO, an EDC light needs a tail switch, preferably including momentary on with partial press. Speaking of standardizing to 18650 batteries, what's the top 18650 powered flashlights for mounting on a rifle?
@N0V-A426 жыл бұрын
Thrunite TC10 V3 would be what I would go with. Unfortunately I can't find a tape switch for it. Nitecore is a good place to look. They also have tape switches for their flashlights
@r.w.72325 жыл бұрын
Agreed! It needs a tail switch where you can instantly access turbo for urgent situations.
@GhostOfJulesVerne4 жыл бұрын
This thing works great as a hand-warmer if you run it on turbo mode for 30 seconds. It gets hot fast.

Perhaps you can compare the TC15 with the Olight S2R II. The price of the S2R II is higher of course, but beside the magnetic charger they are pretty close to me.

This or tc20? What's the difference as far as brightness goes?
@patricj9514 жыл бұрын
I have both. TC20 has nearly 50% higher output, but is floodier. It's also significantly bigger in size. But they are otherwise similar with the same great user interface. Maybe you already have got the answer, but anyway.

I carry the klarus XT2CR. It is just a little bigger but i like the user interface a lot better than the other lights ive had. It is around $60 to $70 but it is 1600 lumens, USB rechargable and comes with a 3600 mah 18650 battery. Ive had O'lights, Thrunites, eagtacks, lumintops and Wowtacs and out of all of them the Klarus lights are the ones i havent gotten rid of. You should give it a try.
@payrocoin6 жыл бұрын
Klarus makes great products. I myself fancy Zebralight, and I've yet to find a true suitable replacement for the SC600w MK II L2 that I still EDC. The only light that came really close however was the Nitecore MH20. The MH20 is such a great little light. In regards to Zebralight though; my only gripe with them is that they don't offer a rechargeable USB port on any of their lights at the moment.

You need to work with camera exposure so beamshots reflect what human eyes see. Otherwise review beamshots are worthless.

I think Thrunite really, and I mean REALLY needs to add an extra (perhaps Medium-High) mode to all of their lights. They make great products but they really need to improve their mode spacing. A jump from 250 to 1050 lumens is way too steep. An extra mode would also improve practical use and actual usable runtime.
@patricj9514 жыл бұрын
I know it's easy to think that. But the step from 250 to 1050lm is not as huge for the eyes as one could expect. But it's still significant, and makes it easy to distinguish between the levels. For example: if there had been another step between of 500lm, this had resulted in that you now and then was unsure about what level is activated. You had now and then wondered: "Is it 250 or 500lm?" or "is it 500 or 1050lm?". This because of the eyes ability to determine brightness difference is not to trust, especially under different light conditions. I am just talking based from personal experience. So I personally think Thrunite has got it PERFECT with the mode spacing. In my opinion the difference between the (memorised) modes shall be AT LEAST 3 times. But 4-5times may be even better. By the way: did you get it or try it?
