the SCP i randomly remember the best was one about genetically modified mosquitoes that when they bite you they inject gene altering crisper type stuff into your blood that results in all the cells in your lungs and throat turning into mosquito eggs. So after a while you start coughing up live mosquitoes and then you die as your lungs just get fully converted into mosquito. And of course anyone bitten by one of the thousands of mosquitoes that emerge from your airways also ends up spewing out thousands more in turn. Just the idea of having insects crawling out of your nose and mouth was I highly upsetting mental image to me

Love how when looking for Wurrzag they went "Hmm, he's at war with Balthasar Gelt, a generally passive faction he doesn't border, as well as Queek and Skarbrand, two aggressive factions right next to him. He must be to the north, in the place we've already looked!" Classic Tom & Ben

Ben hits on why I haven't been so crazy about space dwarfs. They all feel like someone went, "lets make space marines in a sort of 90's cartoon toy format." The tank van really confirmed that and the fact it fit so easily as the Ninja Turtle van really hammered that home.

Why does the whole centaur Minotaur thing make me think of the one D&D race with two torsos like it looks like a normal human but where the head would be is just the start of another torso and then it's the person's head on top so it's like a Minotaur but instead of the bull head it's just like another human from the waist up lol

Personally, I feel people are less bothered by "heretical changes to the holy text, period" and more about not trusting studios to make adaptations for the sake of adapting the work to a new format and not have ulterior motives. For example, you'd have to dig pretty deep to find someone saying Charon, the receptionist in John Wick should be played by someone else ( _if_ such a post even exists out there), but few critics believe Lance Reddick was picked as Wesker in Resident Evil simply for being the best candidate, and not because he isn't considered a good actor, much less incapable of standing above the competition in a legit fashion Ultimately, the ip is big enough to carry the series by brand recognition alone even before we consider the quality of the special effects that large a budget will produce, but if I had to predict, that would itself spell the show's demise: a lot of people _will_ watch it, but not as many as they expected when they set the budget. So as seasons go, they'll either lower the budget, which will turn some people off, or they'll drop it entirely; the axe doesn't come _solely_ if a project doesn't breaks even, it comes if the execs, who care about no message beyond the bottom line, think that investment and manpower could make *more* money elsewhere it won't bomb imediately like some are cathartically hoping but it won't be the bottomless gold mine for amazon that it could have been for seasons beyond counting plus spin off on top of spin off
@josephjackson9679

If you're talking about Resident Evil here more than Rings of Power, Resident Evil got cancelled after a single disastrously written season. Lance Reddick in the Wesker-accurate outfit just made me think "wow he would make a great Blade" rather than him suiting Wesker at all, so I can agree with you there. I can be irked by deliberately ignoring source material as much as anyone else, but if Rings of Power had been an at all competently written show then that really wouldnt hamper how much I like it or how good it is objectively. Sadly, the showrunner responses to fan backlash at their departure from canon generated serious levels of hate, which they will use to excuse poor reception rather than listen to legitimate critique about the writing. As soon as I saw the mound of helmets sculpture and heard the dialogue of "a rock sinks in water because it can only look down into darkness, while a boat doesnt because it doesnt" I knew it was going to try and bury itself in meaningless flowery language and visuals rather than deliver a compelling plot and characters

So just a note guys on the whole 'not very famous folks cast in Lord of the Rings' bit.... sorry but youre way off the mark on that one! (ACTUALLY.....) Aside from Christopher Lee and Ian McKellan, theres Ian Holm, Sean Bean, Liv Tyler, Hugo Weaving, John Rhys Davies, Kate Blanchet, all of whom Id say are pretty well known actors/actresses at the time of filming. I'll grant you the 4 hobbits were not super famous beforehand and Orlando Bloom and Vigo Mortensen definitely made their names in LOTR but I wouldnt say they exactly went out of their way to cast unknown actors! Hell theres even Brad Dourif, who whilst not exactly holywood royalty hes definitely pretty wellknown among the nerdier side of TV and movies for playing... well.... creepy pschopaths like Grima so that was hardly out of the blue in casting terms ;)

My problem with Rings of Power is them changing characters like making Galadriel this revenge seeking best sword fighter elf in the world. She is not known for any of this and it is just wierd to force a well known character into a role of the female protagonist instead of making thier own like they did with the new female dwarf. That is a cool and believable idea but making Galadriel into someone she never was and acting as if she is completely alone even though she has a husband and daughter makes it even worse. Changing things for the sake of keeping with cliches is dumb.
@ricksanchez5584

one question, have you read the silmarion?, Its honestly one of the most obtuse things I've ever read however is thoroughly enjoyable. galadriel along with being one of the oldest elves, leads the noldori across the grinding ice, feanor just sailed like a chump, it is entirely believable and I believe even established that at one point galadriel was a warrio,r and though galadriel changes drastically from the third age to the second, I do believe it is odd that galadriel does not have her family ties established, because I believe that could be fitted well. However, I could be misrembering things, I should probably go back and reread the silmarillion again, get started on some citations lol.

@@tallleprechaun1318 yeah, she should have a beard for sure and that does suck. I just mean adding a new character and story does work. Everything I know about Galadriel, I know the story they habe written for her is just an annoying cliche that I do not have any wish to watch. Making elves terrible at fighting to make it seem like she is better than she is. Making her some revenge seeking loner that doesnt need anyone to help her do her mission cuz women are only strong when they do everything on their own. Lack of family even though she has one because women with kids and a husband can't go out and do heroic things. Its just terrible writing and I hate it.

@@onix9818 yeah, from reading the books I always got the feeling that she was scary in a fight but that's not what her strength was from. She used her big brain to be the coolest of them all. @@ricksanchez5584 Id like to just suggest that being a leader, which Galadriel absolutely is, does not make her a warrior, which she is not. She has fought in battles before out of pure necessity, but in the original text I believe she definitely didnt fight against Morgoth in that big war, making her actively hunting down Sauron because his boss killed her brother a weird choice. And clearly fighting/warriorship wasnt her greatest skill because she instead chose to dedicate herself to protective magic and leadership in Lorien, so her being a better fighter than all the other elves travelling with her is really strange. Even Legolas really struggled taking down a cave troll while being helped by two great warriors and gandalf but young Galadriel does it instantly?

It is kind of sad that apparently Amazon decided to not read any of the books or watch even watch any of Peter Jackson movies in preparation for writing the new show. I am a huge LotR fan and to be honest would have been fine with them making changes but wow it is a beautiful, well shot show with good special effects and excellent set design and it is Garbage so far. Which also sucks, cause now that people are hating on it even more racist jackasses are coming out of the woodwork and I have dealt with that enough with Star Wars.

@@savage1764 Yeah but I really feel like they have shot themselves in the foot with a lot already. They only have the Ip to change certain things and forget the books they have already made very big conflicts with their own cannon. Spoilers but the best example I can give is Elrond. Elrond and Galadriel in the books are very good friends (he saves her husband) but the way they set it up is very weird. With the way elves age when they meet Elrond looks to be fairly young and Galadriel being beautiful and of very noble blood looks like mid 30s (and hot) but the key difference being Elrond was born at the end of the first age whereas Galadriel was born like 3/4 through the Years of the Trees before there was even a Sun. She is 700-800ish years older than Elrond and he fucking marries her daughter. I realize that they are Smashing the Second age together and there for the timeline is weird but Elrond who I think is being portrayed fairly well looks at his friend Galadriel he's like "when she has a baby Imma marry that baby and have 3 kids with it". It just weird man, also according to what they said they aren't going to change that (or they can't). Fellowship has a seen were Galadriel give Aragorn a stern talking to because he is in love with her Granddaughter. So yes, Elrond actor is doing a good job, but he is now canonically a baby lover. Sorry for ranting!

Honestly I was extremely sceptical about Bezos Rings before its release for a few obvious reasons (nothing to do with 'wokeness' though which at this point is a completely redundant term) but ended up surprised by how much I'm enjoying it so far. I like that it's taking its time to establish a few branching storylines and I like the characters driving them. The acting is very good for the most part, nobody feels particularly distracting although some of the dialogue is a bit stilted and unnatural. This is especially true of the elves which I assume is the point in order to make them stand out but they could do with toning it down a little. Looks gorgeous, some good practical effects alongside obviously top range CGI. People who complain about 100 percent lore accuracy are not allowed to like the Jackson trilogy so unless you have a Tom Bombadill Body Pillow stop pretending to care. Decent show, lets see how it goes.

The world eaters berzerkers are definitely uninspired IMHO, and I've been playing world eaters exclusively in 40k since start of 8th edition (now getting Khorne Daemons as well). As far as the release being boring/nobody caring - There's nearly a dozen people I know now building a khorne army now because of the release. To me, if you're going to be paying, modeling, painting, etc etc your models - you are playing the game for the aesthetic. People who play world eaters/khorne aren't playing for the rules (cause we don't really have any rules until the world eater book comes out), we're playing and have been playing for the aesthetic. Red's my favorite color, and I DM D&D so playing the bad guy is kind of normal feeling for me. The lore of the World Eaters is cool and all, but I don't really pay much mind to it because it just makes me mad at the game. Kharn can survive laughing off a grey knight's psychic lightning, but in the game he dies to psychic powers just like any other chump. To be honest, kharn should be WAAAAAAAY stronger in melee than he is or have an always fight first, fight last, something ability on him..can only be hit on 4+'s or something cause he's known to be an omegaluldodge champion. IDK, Something. Kharn's lore is world eater lore though, for the most part, and if you care a lot about it then it just makes you depressed to play with him on the table so...just go for aesthetic all the way I say. *That's why the world eaters berzerkers are so uninspiring to me.* Not only is their paint job closer to Red Corsairs, the only real variation is the wannabe Kharn arm. They definitely just look like CSM kit with different bits. I'm still gonna get them because I never converted my 48 berserkers with FW or AOS kits, but by God can I do a better paint job than GW for world eaters.

RoP is written like failed literacy and English GCSE students are writing it, putting in anecdotes that aren't as deep or meaningful as they think and plain meaningless. Assassinating character identities, they make it like only Galadriel is meant to be intelligent or good, yet comes across as the most unlikable and dumb character in it unintentionally with how badly written she is, while not at all acting anything like she would. There is so much wrong with it on just a lore and writing level, uninspired costumes with nothing at all iconic. Not to mention the Americanised politics around it polluting every piece of entertainment these days...
