Ticking Off a Tenant

The plaintiff says the defendant was her landlord, and when she moved out, she says the defendant locked her out before she could retrieve her bedroom set. The plaintiff believes the defendant wasn’t in the right, and she’s suing him for the cost of the bedroom set as well as harassment. The defendant claims he had to have the plaintiff evicted, and she still owes back rent.

landlords can go to the courthouse and get a judgment on anyone for ANY amount, the courts NEVER check the validity of them, ever. they run those cases through like cattle. it's one of the many problems we have with the legal system right now regarding rentals and landlords.

We have debt collectors who saddle people with debt that they do not owe, we have Zombie debt, and we have people who steal identities and use others' credit and leave them with debt. The plaintiff is one of the most disrespectful and delusional persons I have ever seen on any of these court shows. What I think is happening to her account is that the 3rd party collector is freezing her account. She admitted that she has not satisfied the debt. It will continue to be in collections until she makes an effort to pay. Most debts have a statue of limitations. What the plaintiff doesn't realize is that each time she acknowledges the debt, the clock starts over again. Legally the collection agency can continue to pursue the debt. The defendant may not be aware that the collection agency is cheating him or sold the debt to another agency who now owns the debt.

It depends on the State not all States operate the same way. You have to know the State where the debt was incurred and follow those rules.
