Rod/reel combo with fishing kit as an emergency setup kzbin.infoUgkxntWMOZsO1Zfv-pdn_XuffEtNkTYAYu4Z recommend but started to use this every day. The rod is thick and seems durable. I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.

This is the best instructional video I've found online. I've been an angler since i was a small child, but never had a chance to learn Fly Fishing. I picked up my first Fly Rod yesterday and needed instruction, so this is perfect for a beginner like me. Nice job!

It is one thing to know how to cast, but what separates Tim from other casters is that he is such an awesome teacher. These videos really helped out my cast about 3 years ago.(they still do) I could barely cast 40 ft. and now I can bomb 80 footers with nice tight loops. You can be sure that every guy at Tightlines KNOWS what they are talking about.

Tim is great even in his condescending, "Oh I know how to do it," which is so accurate as I speak for myself almost every time I go out and execute the wrong way again and again. Glad I found this. Thanks Tim!

Coming back here for some nostalgia. This is where I started 12 years ago, and thanks to Tim fly fishing has taken me places I thought I'd never go. Constantly telling myself to accelerate to a stop has helped a bunch!

I learned fly fishing from my uncle when I was a kid growing up in NH. If he explained it like Tim does, well I might have not tossed my first fly rig off a cliff. Thanks!

Great video to get you casting properly. Like many people I just starting casting on my own years ago and I move my wrist way too much. I just picked up a new fly rod to start fly fishing again with my son. Seeing what a good false cast should look like helps a lot. Even after a just 15 minutes of practice I could tell when I did it properly and when I didn't. I just need to spend a few hours to make doing it properly a habit.

Just got the hang of it after bout a month. Biggest thing for me was making a strong back cast so the loop on the forward cast is tighter/unrolls better and when ever the line doesn't go straight it's always that the rod didn't go in a straight path. Try to follow the same path on the forward cast as the backcast just went. I found the joan wulff technique(up over the shoulder) much easier starting out, but if you let out too much line it tends to smack the water while letting line out.

We've all been there!! It is best to practice at home, the park or wherever, get a handle on what you are doing and then go out and fish. It is not that much fun if you are trying to learn to cast while wanting to catch fish....Find someone and ask them questions, look up videos on casting.....etc....It really is a blast once you understand the dynamics of the fly cast.
