Now, let's get past the sentimental part and dive into the reality of it all-2023 was undoubtedly my toughest year!
It kicked off with the struggles of being ousted from the military. In July 2022, I experienced an assault by another officer in the US Army. Despite reporting the incident, I found myself facing retaliation and the possibility of being discharged from the military.
I had provided CID with evidence, statements from the person who assaulted me, photos, and messages from his parents. However, my fate seemed to hinge on a "2 against 1" scenario. The lack of support from my chain of command made it feel like I had no other options.
Turning to social media, I shared my ordeal, hoping to shed light on the injustices and prompt people to question the unfolding events.
And it worked!
This journey has been a profound experience, reshaping my perspective on my military career. Having been retained in the Army, I now have the autonomy to decide the course of my career. I've chosen to depart from the military on my own terms.
While there's still much to do, I've embarked on the transition to a life beyond the military.
This year's objective is consistency. To be unwavering in my commitment to myself, my goals, and everything I aspire to achieve this year.
