Shop at Walmart, get price gouged and then get stopped at the door and have to prove you didn't steal anything. I broke up with Walmart and couldn't be happier. I started going to my local Aldi and I'm saving money. I know a lot of western states don't have it, but y'all have Winco and I wish they'd come to Florida.

There’s very much a mindset with people now that it doesn’t matter if you steal from a store because they are a big company and can handle the loss. I worked at a five and dime in the 1980’s named McCrory when I was a teen, and we had theft as well. I watched a man stuffing pants down his wife’s skirt, and when my manager approached them, she bit him on the arm so bad that he needed to go to the doctor. I promise you, the theft gets passed on to the consumer regardless of how big a company owns the store. I find it kind of funny that one response here says everyone who goes in Walmart steals and then another one saying it’s upsetting to have a receipt checked. Our local warehouse club also checks receipts, and yes, I have been stopped for neglecting to ring something up at self-check-out, and yes, it was an honest mistake.
@lisam5744

@@dawnkeckley7502 I know there's theft, but it's not my job as a customer to do their inventory control for them. My last straw with Walmart was when the people at the door watched me leave the checkout lane and walk towards them and told me I had to prove I didn't steal what I bought. So done and done. I won't shop where I have to prove I didn't steal anything. Period.

Have you watched hand held scanners that are used for inventory? As well as"smart" stores that track your purchases. Wal-Mart has these cameras and bio metric systems They already know ,they just don't want the public to know. Why?, because they are allowing this to get the public to accept big brother surveillance. They want the public so fed up that they accept the police state for " peace and safety"

Nutritionally how are you looking? Are you getting enough folate and protein? Omega 3s? If you sacrifice your nutritional status to save money, then you will end up paying in the long run. The contact creators that show off their food halls and it’s all processed meat and refined flower products makes me feel ill. They’re depriving their children of fresh meat and fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains for the sake of cutting down their budget. If there’s nothing else from the budget to cut out, then I can understand, but these people live in huge homes or go on vacations and things like that while sacrificing the health of their bodies and their children’s bodies. Obviously, this doesn’t apply to everyone and I’m only talking about the KZbinrs who have the garbage grocery halls but claim to have saved so much money.

Also, I typically buy the loss leaders and stock up/double up coupons on my food so our grocery bill stays nice along with a home garden. We do pretty decently.

My biggest way to save is going to be wresting the shopping from my husband. Here's the deal: we live 13-14 miles from grocery stores. And he goes into town several times a week since he retired. Every single time he goes to town he has been insisting on "picking up whatever is on the grocery list". Can you see where this is going? It's only the two of us and our grocery bills have been enormous. I told him we had to cut back, and started shopping for basics, keeping close account of food spending. I am making things like cookies, which I hardly eat but he does. I'm planning more carefully. It's still going to be higher than it should be but I'm on track to cut food dollars dramatically in August. I'm just learning, and I don't have the backup freezer items in place yet that I want, but hopefully within a few months will have the stock on hand to keep bills lower than ever. Thank you for teaching me "how to do it".

So a third party is selling it on the walmart website for $40 for the 12 pack. Crazy I know, but I have seen it for many products. Probably not buying as economical as I could be (we do buy prepackaged things like chips/pretzels for my husband’s lunches, and cheese sticks) I shop at Costco, winco, and Fred meyer/kroger for deals. Your tips have helped me a ton! Maybe my next step is to become an ingredient household! I really love that idea.

I tried making my own soaps and detergents because of money, and my perfume allergies are pretty impactful. Laundry liquid is still a bit expensive, but I bought my main ingredient on prime day, so not bad. The dishwasher detergent and the liquid dishwasher detergent are really runny, so I'll mess with that recipe, but those products were super cheap to make. Fairlife shakes are like $5. more per dozen at Sam's than they used to be! I only drink 1 or 2/week, but I need lactose free so I can't just change to something else, but I'm experimenting with protein powders and fairlife milk. Your idea of buying ingredients or other things on sale is so great! You are amazing and I appreciate you!

After following your channel for awhile, I started searching the grocery ads and realizing that the more overall expensive grocery stores usually (not always) have great sale prices. Our main store is WinCo, but I’ve bought 36 eggs at Albertsons for $4.00, personal melons at Smiths for a dollar a piece, grapes a dollar a pound, chicken a dollar a pound- I mean, it’s like a game every week to see where we’re going to get produce or meat or whatever. It’s the thrill of the hunt! 😂. As long as we’re careful like this, we can usually manage $80/week for a family of 5. (And I rarely go to Walmart.)

Same here, and since it's just me, if it's a 'family pack', I divide it up into individual portions and freeze that way. Those chicken breasts in the family pack are HUGE, and I can stretch 3 lbs of ground beef a LONG way. I only shop the sales, too, and make lots of soups/stews in the crockpot, which makes meals for like a week - LOL! Last week, Lidl had 10 lb bag of chicken leg quarters for $6.90! You can't even buy carrots or onions that cheap!

We live near Toronto, Canada. I spend about $400 CAD a month for two people. While I definitely have noticed the price of groceries going up since Covid, my general outgo for groceries hasn’t mainly because I shop hard for clearance. I almost never buy anything full price. It must be on sale or deep clearance. Having a small deep freezer really has helped with this as well.

A lot of times those specialty vet foods aren't all that great for pets. For example: the "diabetic" vet food has 3x the amount of carbs diabetic cats should be eating. There are lots of pet owner's group out there for almost any chronic condition, and many of them have suggestions that are better for the long term health of your pet than the "vet" solutions. I suggested seeing if their is a group for your pet's condition. (Not knocking vets, but many out there really aren't well versed in chronic conditions. My cat would have died a year ago had I followed my old vet's advice for my diabetic cat.)

@@WithGreatJoy oh, I'm so happy you found a better solution for you cat! I do see that a lot, I used to work as nutritionalist for cats/dogs and small pets, so luckily I felt I wasn't being conned! He needs a uraniry diet after he was quite poorly, luckily he loves the food but I don't love the price 😅 the suppliments offered where just glorified treats so I forgo them, but yes I do agree, sometimes a fancy food isn't the answer! An older cat I had as a teenager, was prescribed a very expensive hypoallergenic food for allergies, when in reality she had a version of dematitis from flea bites so just needed a different treatment for that. Got to keep your wits about you don't you! :)

I started making homemade dog food because the fresh dog food options are so expensive. I *think* it is nutritionally balanced based on research, and it is 1/2 the price. I do serve it 1/2 and 1/2 with kibble as I don't have time to make it every week for 2 large dogs. It has considerably helped the digestive issues of our senior dog and makes life in the house better for all of us.

People just don't know how to shop. A box of cereal I bought in 2020 was $3.79. Now it is $4.59. But on sale today it was 4 boxes for $10--well below what it cost in 2020. Also, I may have bought a name brand in 2020--Land O' Lakes butter for example--but now I buy the store brand which is at or below name brand prices from 2020. I get that things have gone up, but there are ways to minimize the impact. Shop the sales and shop multiple places.

Most meals are servings of 4-6 so I typically freeze 1-2 portions because I can only stomach the same meal 3, maybe 4 times. I have a nice stockpile of frozen meals to choose from.
