I'm old enough to remember that back in the day Tim Burton said during the interviews around the release of the first film, that he had chosen Keaton, among other things, bc he wasn't physically imposing and that it would make no sense for a muscle-bound macho type to dress up like a bat and fight. In Keaton's case on the other hand it seems almost obvious the being a smaller guy he would resort to theatrics and smoke and mirror in order to be imposing and threatening. I don't know if this was actually part of Burton's reasoning but it works for me.

I didn’t watch Keaton’s first Batman film until recently. I grew up watching the one with Devito. That was probably my first Batman, and Batman Begins is the first I vividly remember watching in the theatre.

Out of all screenplay writers Sam Hamm understood Batman and wrote both Batman, Batman Returns and somewhat Batman Forever. Most of his stuff got scrapped and was later reuse or retold. Batman 89 comic continuing after Batman Returns. And Fun Fact fans another writer name John Jackson Miller is rewriting Batman 89 graphic novel which is coming out October 15, 2024. Sam Hamm continues his takes.

The early ‘90s hair, ever so slightly takes me out of the film now. It’s the only thing that really dates the movie. But, the Keaton Batman is iconic.

No disrespect to Julie Newmar, she was the first live action Catwoman and absolutely embodied the role. However, Michelle Pfeiffer's performance in Batman Returns is the definitive Catwoman. Every appearance of Catwoman that came after has been modeled on the foundation Pfeiffer built. Everything from the design of the cat suit to the iconic bullwhip.

Being that they were basing it off of flashpoint, I really wanted to see Jeffrey Dean Morgan play the Thomas Wayne batman, but seeing Michael Keaton get a chance to play that character again was probably the one food thing about the flash movie.

I agree that Kilmer was fine as Batman. Great actor, had the physicality and gravitas to pull off the role, but Keaton had just recently redefined the character and the film wasn't as good as Burton's.

The concept that Bruce only feels at ease when playing the Batman part is very reminiscent of Alan Moore's treatment of the character of Nite Owl II in Watchmen. That character also had issues albeit of a different more pathetic kind than those of Keaton's Wayne.

Nolan's was alright but he wasn't exactly a comic book take on the character he was more of a realistic take so he doesn't exist with other heroes like Keatons and possibly Pattinsons. His movies are the best though but I gotta put Keaton over Bale just based on how the character was treated and viewed.

@@kevinlee5753 And Keaton is comic book take? His Batman kills, his parents were murdered by the Joker, there's little to no exploration on his character. Batman Begins it's basically a character study where Nolan slowly puts every single piece together of what makes Batman who he is, from his philosophy, to his methods, his principles, the state of Gotham, etc. One of the best origins ever made of the character.

@@cahe6161 well Keaton's Batman does have comic books about him which continues to come out in fact one is coming out this week and even though it isn't mainline it's still canon within the multiverse that for his Batman Joker killed his parents and that he coexists with Reeves Superman. Bale doesn't have either one of these aspects going for him since his Batman doesn't exist within the multiverse and his story has already ended which is fine since it's a realistic take. As far as killing goes that is a valid criticism but he did later change in the comics but Bale killed in all 3 of his films while actually having the no kill rule! The rule didn't apply to Keatons since his was drawn from multiple sources that included a batman who killed such as the Dark Knight Returns comic a source material that Sam Hamm used. So the no kill rule didn't apply to him at first but it's still a valid criticism since it was already around in the comic book industry but at least it was later changed. Bales Bruce Wayne was fine since he wasn't as reclusive as Keatons but his Batman was treated as more of a symbol than part of his identity. One of the biggest missed opportunities for Bale is when Rachel died and besides growing closer to having Batman be part of his identity he just retired based on a lie and took the blame for something he didn't do which is not something Batman does as even Kevin Conroy's Batman thought that's a stupid idea in the animated series of the justice league which came back to haunt him when Bane exposed it. Bales origin story is good but Ras Al ghul wasn't his mentor in the comics so that's not accurate. Bale does have some level of accuracy that Keatons doesn't have but overall Keaton's is more accurate in other aspects and wasn't trying to be a specific Batman like how someone like Pattinsons was but just a well rounded one and to that he succeeded. Nolans philosophical approach was good but Keatons also had a philosophical approach but from a darker point of view which made him not be in the public eye a whole lot. So it really depends on what you're looking for and I prefer more of a comic book take but that doesn't negate the fact that Bales is still good since he's also well rounded but from a realistic perspective so I put Bale as a close second.

@@kevinlee5753 We're talking about the movies being accurate to the comics. A comic made specifically as a continuation of the movie doesn't count, I didn't think that would need to be explained. Also all Batman's live action depictions draw from multiple sources that's not specific to Keaton and doesn't mean that the rules don't apply to him. Of every Batman comic basically since Year One, Nolan's and Matt Reeves' versions are the ones that resemble the most

she told me she would always be their for a few months I brought up being poly because I never wanted to feel this way an she rejected it an said it would ruin our relationship an but that open the door. An she kept talking to other dudes one guy was in Kentucky a state away from her an she stoped talking to me as much the day after. Her entire vibe changed an she switched up on me. She said she was hyperventilating as she tried to manipulate me into staying an I ignored her because I know how hyperventilating works an she wouldn't have been able to suddenly speak clearly.
