Yes, good idea, but at the end of the day it’s a farm shed/ barn. We had a lot of farm buildings that were very old early eighteen hundreds i guess, they had iron brackets all over the place holding the various beams, rafters and joists together, nobody ever said a word and they weren’t painted at all.

His energy level and stamina is amazing to continually do this. He's like Shawn James (he has a site "My Self Reliance") who has built a fair sized log cabin entirely by himself.

Shawn's structures are outhouses compared to this project. Nothing against Shawn as he does okay with his work. This is simply vastly superior. 👍👍👍
@philstevens9914 Жыл бұрын
@@wileycoyotesr8623 I get that and there is Bradshaw joinery for example that is also far superior. He is doing one of these projects on his channel right now. You didn't get the point. What Shawn James achieves with the recourses he has and more or less out in the wilderness is quite impressive. I watch Kris because his skillset in may areas like power gen are very impressive. This is to be fair his 2nd stab at post and beam type construction, with the first being the greenhouse. I live in Pennsylvania and there are a ton of timber frame builders. Another thing we have leaned is to use white cedar instead of oak. I own a woodworking shop with machines from Felder and even CNCs. What I know about white oak is it is an open pour wood and from being green will shrink as it gives up moisture content. I've seen structures that the joints open up and can become dangerous with the shrinkage. White cedar does not shrink, insects don't eat it and it is non-permius. I own a 5,500 sq. ft English Tudor style house made 100% of red brick. I have a plan to do 2 large additions on the back of the house that will be done in post and beam. I study these guys to se what I can learn in addition to a new technique I plan to use that will have the inside and outside frames visible and the walls filled in and properly insulated on the interior of the frame sections. In the old days wattle and dawb was used. Can't use that here, but I have come up with another method that will meet the R insulation code and local building code also.
