Crabbers Virginia keep a cut down boat hook on the gunwale to snag the crab pot cork. A even shorter handled one might be worth having in a kayak so you don't have to maneuver so much or go around. Or lean out of the boat. You could keep it by your feet on the ceiling. Taku really knows how to live. There's always a little chaos going on that is funny.

I've lived my whole live in New York, a city dweller, and I wish I could experience a day like that. Crabbing in a kayak on some smooth water, on a calm foggy day. That last bite he took, dipped in the head butter (I think they call it?) with the chili flakes!!! That would beat any vacation I've ever been on.

There's a seafood restaurant in HK from my childhood that used to be a resort hotel. Still there today actually. Back in the 70s, they used to keep a live monkey in a cage at the driveway entrance. It's pretty inhumane. So they don't do that any more, but I still remember my mom telling me to wave to the monkey. What you do, is buy the good stuff from the nearby dock area live seafood stores and bring it to the restaurant. We always make sure to include a few crabs. BECAUSE - they make this amazing crab butter sticky rice dish that's the most fragrant, ocean-y, and crabby thing you can imagine. I think the sticky rice is steamed with the crab butter + lots of garlic + green onions, and may be shallots. Then served with the rest of the crab on top. The moment the dish arrives at the table, you get immediately blasted by pepper spray - if they made pepper spray out of crab butter. Gotta love crab. Yes. I tend to overeat at that restaurant... Can't wait to visit HK again.

First off long time subscriber here and love your videos an what you do! Dungeness crab is my favorite crab even over King crab. You asked for recipe ideas so here goes. Being a Louisiana boy we love our crawfish boils but you can do it with pretty much any crustacean. We add all kinds of things to our boils and you like to mushroom forage and they are awesome in the boils. They soak up all that seasoning! Onion halves, potatoes, sausage, whole cloves of garlic, mushrooms, corn on the cobb, bay leaves, oranges, and lemons are mainstays but I have seen all sorts of things added to it. Lately though I have been seeing videos where they do these Cajun Vietnamese seafood boils with this spicy garlic butter sauce. Just search it up to find a recipe for it and I am sure you will add your own Taku twist to it. They look so delicious but seafood boils are no small affair so you could do a subscriber invite for it! I am way down here in Louisiana so couldn't make it but would love to see some NW folks enjoy a taste of Louisiana! Stay blessed you two and keep the vids coming! 💯👍

I remember the time my family went to Oregon when I was younger and we went on a boat to fish and drop crab nets. Everyone who paid would split all the crab after 50% went to the company. Lets just say there was so much we all got 2 almost 3 large hefty bags of crab. They also par boiled them before we left. AMAZING crab cakes. Plus I always loved the fact that oysters were cheap as hell around that time 2008-2010. We would get 10ish dozen and eat most of them raw but some cooked on the grill. Still love oysters to this day but very expensive here in Arizona compared to Oregon.
