I have an immense amount of respect for anyone who can take 20 minutes and tell a story better than another who happens to have unlimited cashy money and 2 HOURS to work with!! Pretty sure back when that writer strike went down, the money men told em all to go kick rocks! They figured we can make comic book movies till forever! They didn't think for a second though, there will be people who are 'starving artists' that will come along and take down Hollywood with a few go pros and a good drone pilot! These shorts are getting better every day!

The exact same thing can be said for nearly ANY western ever made... From the high profile ones to the b-movies. From the 20's all the way up into the 00's. It's a big reason why the genre was made in the first place. It's a simplified setting to throw all sorts of complicated things at. Politics is one of the main ones. (Just watched Shane again, last night...it's all over that movie).
@albakreuk5830

James Avery can't get any more political then bank robbery, banks being corrupt & in the pockets on every level of government, even if there *_IS_* *_NO_* discussion of politics in the movie. Action against politics is just as loud as words, nonviolent action is always better though.

Enjoyed the film, well done. Some historical and cultural inaccuracy. The Black woman would not be so forthright with White men, especially strangers ( and her eyebrows would not have been plucked)! Men in the time were generally unshaved. A Black woman would not have been considered a credible witness in a court at law to identify a suspect.

From New Zealand. This is the first film from Circle Street Motion Pictures that I've seen and I have to say, very well done. The good ol' Southern boys were very convincing as was the black ex slave. The Sheriff really looked an authentic sufferer of TB, or Cosumption as it was known in those times. All in all, a very good production. It held my attention from start to finish. Hearing, rather than actually seeing, the Bank Robbery at the beginning really set the mood just right. Well done everyone.

Jesus pleasus I'm blown away. Jim Cody Williams was amazing, speaking his lines with his eyes as much as his voice. Fidias Reyes portrayal was likely difficult to emulate a former slave (?) instead of a modern, talented and fearless actress that she appears to be. Cullen was perfectly psychologically eager. Myke, Robert and Anthony stayed true to the simplicity of their characters making them genuinely real. How you found these performers who knew how to play each role as honest and clean as they did is impressive. Almost as impressive as the lines you crafted for them. I want to see more of your troupe, the sound, lighting and camera work, but I'm afraid you won't get as perfect as this film. Very well done to all.

+Shon Blotzer only 2% of americans owned slaves. most were in agrrement with their government in a large production facility....so its quite impossible for a lonely man to have owned a slave. besides this tremendous inaccuracy that helps the hollywood narrative of missinformation and demonization of white europeans, not bad short

Excellent. The ending was a little weak. That said, much better than anything Hollywood has put out in a long time.

The best film that I have seen in... way too long. I am neither film maker nor critic but with a product like this things like cinematography, periodicity and editing are so seemless as to be blindingly obvious. Thank you many happy returns.

This was really good. What I really liked about the show about the older man, is that he wasn't a bad man, he was just desperate and wanted to save his farm and everything that he worked for, and he saw no other way to do it. I wish they had made a sequel to it.

What a great 'little" film. More guts, brains, and logic than mainstream releases. The score was excellent, as was the acting, editing, and direction. Very well done.

I love short films because they're like individual scenes in a feature-length film. And I can see that in a way, they are more difficult than full-length films because, in order to possess quality and worth, so much more has to be conveyed and in a much shorter amount of time. They require a certain mastery of storytelling that is very difficult to achieve. And I'm sure for some it is easy to tell in a short film whether or not its producers have the required skill, and experience. I, however, in my judgment, do not have adequate knowledge of such mastery to judge if a short film possesses that quality that speaks so highly of its makers. But, in my limited knowledge, I feel confident in saying that at the very least, this film has some stroke of a higher kind. I thoroughly enjoyed this film and I'd like to suffice to say that it is one of my favorite short films, if not my most favorite.

Wow... thank you so much for the kind words and encouragement. You're absolutely right. Short films, especially ones like this, are very difficult to cram so much story into so little time. We are very glad you enjoyed the film. You made our day.
