If installing the spring at this position - gate opens from right to left, you will turn the spring counter clockwise just like in the video. Use the hammer to drive the silver white pin in so it acts as a stopper to "lock" the top of the spring in place

You did it wrong. You dont hammer that pin in the hinge! Look at other videos how its done correctly, Yes your gate closes , but your pin is just digging into the wood, Dont make a video if you dont know what you are doing.
