Hi Luke I had knee reconstruction and 3rd knee replacement & tibia & fibia stems on my left leg last year in April 2022 I did your exercises last year on recovery and my surgeon said I would only be able to get my knee to 65 degrees but I managed to get my bend over 90 degrees I did your gliding exercises and on sit down ski rower and it helped so much. I had a spinal fusion operation 6 weeks ago L5 l4 with a small cage fitted the tightening of my hamstring pain has gone completely after this surgery but now the knee I had done last year has started to seize up more not bending as well I am doing the 4 lots of exercises led on my back 3 x a day tilting my pelvis and then windshield wipers and lifting my pelvis off of bed up & down plus one leg up to my chest at a time holding in for 20 secs & I’m walking daily and walking in pool & rotating my leg like on a cycle plus Knee glides & putting a ice bag on my knee But for some reason my knee I had done last year is not bending as well as I can’t do my leg exercises the same as before my operation and it feels like inside of my knee is tight & feels inflamed not sure if it is because my alignment has changed as now I’m walking upright tall & no twisting or bending or getting on floor is allowed yet whilst my spine is fusing If only I could lay on floor and do wall leg slides I know that would help me lots like last year in recovery I also worried if I lay on bed and put my legs on wall it may put strain on my spine it’s a bit frustrating when I was doing so well with my knee recovery plus I have a stabbing whilst walking on my leg I’m due to see my surgeon in 2 weeks time & hopefully I will get physio in the next few months Thankyou for this Reel I find them so very good & such great info that has helped me so much 💞

Thank you very much for watching the videos, I'm very glad you have found them helpful for you! It sounds like you are doing a lot of great exercises and activities to maintain good mobility and strength. Right now, I would definitely defer to the advice from your spine surgeon, it is important for your body to heal appropriately following this surgery. You've developed a good foundation and hopefully as your back heals you'll be able to do more of your regular exercises and hopefully your knee and leg will start feeling more like it was with mobility and reduced pain and discomfort.. Best wishes to you and feel free to ask any questions that come up as you go through this process and I'll do my best to help!

Had to repair the replacement Oct 27, 2022. Going back to surgeon this Monday because my knee keeps locking, and I can clearly see the metal.

I'm sorry to hear about your problems after surgery. I hope the surgeon can provide sound assessment and provide the help you need.

Hi Luke,i had my TRKR on 3/1/23 so 14/15 weeks,iam 63 from the uk 🇬🇧 iam at 112/114 rom flex of leg is 3% out of being straight,i do the spin bike and squarts and try to push my foot back further under the chair using heal slides,i did have a tight t- band but that gone but the inner side of knee when i bend or straight i get a sensation like a snap is that another band,all i have now is stiffness night time early morning,From Peter.
@KneeReplacementTherapists Жыл бұрын
Hi Peter thanks for watching. The snapping sensation could be from the ligaments or tendons that run along the inside part of the knee. All the soft tissue around the knee takes time to lengthen and adapt after surgery. Stiffness, especially at night and early morning is very common. Hopefully, this gets better slowly over time as you continue to heal and recover. Best wishes!

Thanks for getting back Luke on the tendon issue,hopefully that will go with time,question iam about 110 rom my aim is to get to 115 to ride my bike is it still possible to reach that target even after 15weeks PO i am still doing spin bike step ups pushing knee to the wall,and squarts,iam sports minded and just want to know is it still possible to reach 115,i do exercises everyday since my operation and physio on 3/1/23 not alot of exercises but enough to keep the knee moving,is there anything else i can do to get the knee to were i want it to go,many thanks Peter uk 🇬🇧
@KneeReplacementTherapists Жыл бұрын
@@Peter-rs6vz It definitely is still possible, but will probably take longer and your progress will be slower. The best thing you can do is continue to stay consistent with daily range of motion exercises 1-2 times per day and also just any type of physical activity or exercise, whatever you enjoy to do and can do consistently.

@KneeReplacementTherapists Hello Luke. I am post surgery 12 weeks. I started off progressing really well. l did have an issue with extreme tightness after approximately 8 weeks. The problem was scar tissue apparently. Under anaesthetic my knee was taken back to my buttocks, to release the pressure and stiffness. Since then it's been harder pain wise to recover and reach 110% bend as before without using pain medication. I've opted to exercise my knee gradually during the whole day. Do you have any suggestions how I could keep bending without so much pain. Thankyou kindly Dianne.

Thank you doctor for your advice Now its 15 month s past I undergone tkr on my right knee but one thing I have noticed there is bit tight ness in my groin region when I do hip abduction exercises with my right leg while lying on bed facing the ceiling with resistance band Will be grateful if you kindly give me some advice regarding this Thank ing you

Hard to tell without personally performing an assessment, but it sounds like some muscle soreness in the hip adductors and/or hip flexor muscles. These muscles are stretched as you perform this movement. You could try the exercise without the resistance band and see if that leads to less pain. You can also do some light stretching of the muscles such as a butterfly stretch with the legs or light strengthening such as squeezing a ball or pillow between your legs. Hope this helps!

Hi Peterson how are you I want to know that how long I have to do knee extensions and knee banding I have my knee surgery eight months ago on 21 September 2022.
@asiyahrashid9897 Жыл бұрын
My extension is almost full and knee banding is 125 degrees.
@KneeReplacementTherapists Жыл бұрын
Good question. If your range of motion looks good, and it sounds like it is, you can start to wean off the range of motion exercises. It is good to remain physically activity on a regular basis, though. This can be anything you enjoy such as walking, exercise machines.

Hi Luke I am 5 wks post TKA, my flexion was measured by my PT at 118 degree, but the knee swelling persisting I do all the exercises. Except for the knee ,the entire leg is nice and slim . My Ortho Doc continue to reinforce Icing the knee & my Therapist tells me to do moist heat several times/ day My therapy was delayed by first 5 days,as I suffered LAD MI right post TKA and required stent . Now I can’t take any anti inflammatory med d/t Plavix & ASA Which is better,it’s confusing
@KneeReplacementTherapists Жыл бұрын
At this point you can incorporate both the heat and ice. They are mainly for pain relief at this point so whichever feels better. Often I recommend my patients use some heat before exercising to relax the muscles to get more stretch and range of motion and to use ice after exercise or therapy or when just sitting at home resting. If swelling is a continued issue I recommend some sort of compression therapy potentially via a short stretch wrap (similar to Ace bandage)… consult with your doc or PT first though

It’s been 9 months since my surgery and I still have some swelling. What can I do and when will the swelling go down.

Try some of the tips presented in the video. If you continue to have issues you may want to seek out lymphedema therapy.. this is a specialized type of physical therapy that include massage techniques, compression wraps and more.
